God bless you. I have been taking an online coding and billing course and basically all self-taught. I've worked as a medical assistant and surgery scheduler for 9 years and was somewhat familiar with ICD 10 and CPT surgical coding, but learning coding as a whole has been a whole new beast. Your Channel is the best coding channel there is and has been such a life saver!
I used to work in CPT and HCPCS when I worked for a large hospital network. My job was titled as general service clerk but I checked all claims for correct codes and made coding notes or corrections and sent them back or forward depending on if they needed corrections.
Good morning, what would you recommend for someone with medical billing experience and less than a year of coding experience that want to take the exam. I guess a refresher course ❤
Question. The Table of Drugs. In the course I'm in, two questions I was given in an exercise had drug lookups in HCPCS for drugs that were NOT at all listed in the Table of Drugs index (I have the 2024 AMA edition of HCPCS). They were, however, listed by generic names in the table and Tabular in HCPCS with no mention of its brand name. I had to use Google to find the generic name. What do you do when you have no idea what the generic name is and can't find the brand name at all in the table? We're not allowed any sort of drug dictionary on the CPC exam.
How do you know when to use a modifier with HCPCS? I'm currently learning about it but all I have ever found is that they are used to describe the story... but there's no reference on when to use it exactly. Could you point me in the right direction please?
For some reason when I took the exam yesterday. When I was to answer the HCPCS questions two of the questions gave me no choice but to pick A, B, C, or D, which is normal, but all four choices included HCPCS codes - (letter following numbers), along with and including CPT number only codes. ex. A. J***, 45741 / B. J***, 45564 / C. J***, 45357, / D. 45741, J*** : I was completely confused. I thought you couldn't use HCPCS codes with CPT or ICD-10 codes. Am I wrong?
Can you review codes 99495 and 99496. When and how they should be used. When does the outreach call need to be made to the patient after hospital discharge. I'm kinda new to this and just looking for some clarification
Hi, I currently have my CPC-A and its hard getting hired as a new Coder. I am interested in the Certified Tumor Registrar. Is there a website where I can obtain my certification as a Tumor/ Trauma Registrar?
"Handwritten notes are acceptable in the coding books only if they pertain to daily coding activities. Questions from the Study Guides, Practice Exams, or the Exam itself are prohibited. Tabs may be inserted, taped, pasted, glued, or stapled in the manuals so long as the obvious intent of the tab is to earmark a page with words or numbers, not supplement information in the book. Altering, whiting out, painting, or printing over any pages within the code books (e.g., marketing pages, table of contents, reference pages, etc.) to supplement information is prohibited. No materials (other than tab dividers) may be inserted, taped, pasted, glued, or stapled in the manuals." Ref: www.aapc.com/training/cpc-exam-faqs.aspx
Hello, good afternoon. I am currently studying the Billing and Couding course at Miami Dade College and they are encouraging us to take the certification Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) What do you think about it, I would like your opinion.
Regarding the CBCS certification, while I prefer not to provide specific feedback on exams for liability reasons, I want to highlight that many employers in the healthcare industry highly value credentials from the AAPC or AHIMA. These organizations are recognized for their comprehensive certification programs. While pursuing any certification is commendable and a step forward in your career, it's crucial to research and choose one that aligns with your professional goals and the expectations of potential employers in your field. Best of luck in your studies and future career!
I took it. While it may be good for beginners, it does not offer a wide range of employment opportunities like American association professional coders and american health information management association. It depends on what department you want to get into and what certification is required so that is up to you.
@@eatmyshorts7973 the question is that i need a job,I am new in this country and I am having trouble to get a job, so I need start, my actual course it is free so I am taking advantage from the opportunities. Thank you for your answer

Preppy offers eBooks, which is where the industry is moving towards. I actually just did an interview with the VP of Products and Services at the AAPC and she spoke about how they're piloting the eBooks for exams and it seems we're moving in that direction -- just not there quite yet. Preppy does offer you the option to purchase the paper books for examination purposes since we're still transitioning over the adoption of digital tools in the industry. If you have any further questions or concerns, reach out to help@preppy.org, they have an amazing customer service team that can help you out.
Oh Girl...Do I need help!!!!! I'm trying to get this job and this stupid assessment that's from 2021 is in my way. I need some suggestions on how to pass it as I've ZERO doubt in my brain some of these questions are wrong. Do you have any suggestions at all on what I can do to pass it? PLEASE HELP!
Facing a tough assessment can be really stressful, especially when it feels like there might be errors. While I can't directly assist due to ethical guidelines, your best bet is to trust your instincts, answer questions to the best of your ability, and don't shy away from explaining your reasoning for any answers you're unsure about. It's also a good move to reach out to the company or assessment provider with any concerns. This approach not only shows your problem-solving skills but also demonstrates your commitment to integrity and accuracy.
What about D codes for dental, such as extractions of impacted 3rd molars? You skipped D codes. Just curious. Love your videos, but you sure speak fast!
Dental coding is not covered in most medical coding programs and my edition of the HCPCS book does not contain dental codes. Those are found in the CDT book. I understand that my speaking pace might not be suitable for everyone. Fortunately, RUclips has some great features that can help you customize your viewing experience! You can easily adjust the playback speed of the video to slow it down by clicking on the gear icon (settings) in the lower right corner of the video player. There, you'll find the "Playback Speed" option, where you can select a slower speed that suits your preference. Additionally, don't forget you can pause the video at any time if you need a moment to catch up with the information. I hope this helps you enjoy the content at a pace that works for you.
Thank you for your explanation. I decided to listen to your lectures before midnight. My brain might be sharper then. 3 am is a stretch. I am learning a lot from you!

I have a question about the preppy masterclass, does the certification help apply to the cpca status being removed?
You can use the contact hours provided by Preppy to remove 1 year of apprentice status.
@ContempoCoding oh that's so wonderful! I just signed up after watching the masterclass, must have missed that in the video. Thank you so much!

Should I take the CPC exam before the CCS?
10:21 Modifiers
How many questions of HCPCS on the CCS?
victoria why is my optum hcpcs level 2 way thiner than yours from AAPC?
The AAPC one has a lot of additional appendices that are not required for simple code assignment.

where can I get the tabs for HCPCS. I got my book yesterday there is no tabs.
Did you get the AAPC edition? Other editions may not come with tabs and would need to be separately purchased.
