    I have put in hundreds of hours in study, went to finally take the exam, knowing that I had 2 minutes and four seconds per question. Did not pass. It started off well, and I had a good flow going, until I reached the cases. I spent far too much time on the 2 that I managed to answer, and ran out of time for the remainder of the exam.
    I also did many practice exams prior to taking the exam. Can you offer up any valuable tips when it comes to better managing my time and reading through some of these very long winded cases?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  3 дня назад

      I’m so sorry to hear about your experience-it’s tough, but you’re not alone, and you’re already on the right track by seeking ways to improve! For long case questions, focus on skimming the documentation to pick out key details like the diagnosis, procedure, and any modifiers, then immediately refer to your coding manuals. If a question feels like it’s taking too long, mark it and move on; it’s better to answer all the quicker questions first and circle back if time allows. Practicing with a timer and focusing specifically on long cases during prep can also help you get more comfortable under exam conditions.

      The exams get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. So, even though ICD-10-CM codes might update on October 1st, those changes won't show up in the exam until the new year rolls around. 🗓️
      Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance:
      www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx
      " What year's books should I use?
      All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets."

    Hey there, I was wondering on the CCA exam, will the questions look like what you are doing here? will each question say for example: what CPT code do you use or what is the is the ICD-!0-CM code do you use?

      I've not taken the CCS exam and am not a member of AHIMA, so I'm not sure.

    Are the test question here on this video compared to the actual exam? I have some test practices and they are much harder than these. Wondering about the difficulty level.

      Thanks for reaching out. As you can imagine, I get many requests for advice for how to get into medical billing and coding, so I’ve compiled all of my best tips in this RUclips playlist:

    Hi, do you recommend reading the entire question first? Or look up the codes first? Also when do you recommend looking in index for a code than just jumping to the code it self? I hope that made sense lol. I just want to be faster at it. In my first try I didn’t get to answer like 15 questions, and I was shy by 8 points to pass. Thanks for your videos. I am taking my second test try tomorrow.

      Yes, I recommend reading the question and answers first. As for looking for the code or the index, it depends on the question.
