      @@RC-kn5cd I completed some of the AAPC’s CPC course, but didn’t finish it. Having access to the textbook that went with it was very helpful though. i dont get why they want us to focus on speed rather than accuracy. the way it's set up with time, and multiple choice just lends to process of elimination and checking answers as opposed to a real world scenario of verifying codes. Just seems like it is setting up students to fail, but thanks for the tips!

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 месяцев назад

      There is no specific "license" required to use ICD-11 codes. Additionally, the United States has not yet implemented ICD-11 for health diagnoses and statistics. The transition to ICD-11 from ICD-10 will be a significant change, and as far as I'm aware, there's no set plan for implementation in the U.S. at this time. It's best to keep an eye on updates from official bodies like the CDC and WHO for the latest information on ICD-11 adoption.

    I am currently self studying for my CPC-A. , I have been a nurse for over 31 years and am now retired. I want to do part-time remote coding to supplement my Social Security. During my years as a nurse I had to do pre authorization for treatmennt and medications as well as, chart review for charge capture. Would this count as experience? Should I get certified in more than CPC? I found a externship on LinkedIn so hopefully I can apply and get experience that way since I didn't use a program. Honestly, most programs teach what I already know from being a RN for decades.

      The exams get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. So, even though ICD-10-CM codes might update on October 1st, those changes won't show up in the exam until the new year rolls around. 🗓️
      Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance:
      www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx
      " What year's books should I use?
      All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets."
