New subbie! I just signed up for courses last night, starting with inpatient medical coding, through CCO. I am an RN leaving patient care. Excited for the new opportunities ahead. Thanks for the helpful tips!
Congratulations to you!! And thank you for the sub 🥹 you got this in the bag 🫡
Congratulations on your new endeavors you said you are an RN.. just curious about the reason you are making the transition from RN to Medical Billing and Coding respectfully not saying anything is wrong with it again just curious. 🙂
This is awesome and congratulations you are an example of a rising star your dedications are amazing.
Thank you so much! 🥹
@@Earthlycousin really you have done great work
Hello❤ THANK YOU! I passed the test you really helped me out thank you !!!
That is amazing news to hear!!! I am proud that you have passed. Congratulations! 🎈
Hi, congratulations on your accomplishments. Im an HHA looking to get into Medical Billing and Coding.
Hello! Are you interested in going through your state for education?
I actually just got my books and didnt have them during the class, in fact we barely even went over the coding part. I am really nervous but I am going to start writing notes in the books.
The NHA website has a practice test on the website that you can review. I mainly focused on coding appropriately bc my instructor was the same way.
for work ... look at clinical /research billing positions ... they usually want you have a coding back ground
Yes! Most jobs do want people to have experience; however, I would consider applying at hospitals or clinics in this industry
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
You’re welcome!! I wish you all the best 🥰
Hello beautiful, I appreciate your video that you made. I was searching on RUclips for content on tips and notes for the exam. I am actually scheduled to take the exam this year on January 16. I'm actually able to take this exam free of charge because of the organization I took the training with. So, I’m trying to make sure I’m able to pass this test the first time. I am a visual learner and also am a note taker as well. We didn't have the option to take books home being that this was an organization that is not-for-profit; all the books remain at the school. But I did have an old CPT book from me doing medical assistant training a few years back. I have no problem with learning prefixes and suffixes because I’m used to that as a medical assistant. I watched your previous video that led me to this one and it's funny because one of your links I already have downloaded from me finding it on my own which is the Quizlet notes which I share with a few of my classmates that I study with. I am a single mother of four so I'm hopeful to be able to pass this exam. Your video is very calming especially as an expecting mother in the video for you to take the time out to make a video for others I'm truly grateful. I hope to come back to be able to update you on how I did on the exam. The teacher that I have talks fast and has a strong accent so it's hard to understand him but like I said I like to study on my own with notes that I have taken or found. They just started giving us practice questions last week and he'll talk and give some information that we would need to know that's important. But the video gave me more details on what to expect. So, thank you again and God bless hopefully I can come back and update you. And congrats again on all your success with your schooling.
Hello, May I ask what's the name of the organization that that allows you to test for free? I'm interested
I am taking the exam in a few weeks and I am a mess... Thanks for your help
You got it! You have all the resources you need for the exam!! 😏
You are APPRECIATED!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!! 🫶🏾🥹
Can you share your notes that you have ? Please
Hi there! I have recently stumbled upon your page and have so far found your videos very insightful. I was hoping to ask you a few questions regarding this exam since I will be taking it in two weeks.
For starters my books are not mine to keep- I have to return them to my school at the end. That being said, my school has told me our books cannot be tabbed or any notes in them for this exam, not even sticky notes. Is that true? because they have misled me in more ways than not, so it is hard to believe.
Secondly, what certifications do you plan to acquire next? I have to do 180 hours of externship after my program, which leaves me unemployed at this moment, and am curious to know what I need to secure a job.
Thank you for your insight!
Your school has to allow you to use them for your exam. I owned my books, which is different from your case. I would still put sticky notes all through the book and write notes on them.
I received my masters degree and plan on starting for a second one this fall. Currently, I don’t have to work right now with my husband working and our children are small, so I’m at home with them.
Definitely look into hospitals or clinics depending on if your cert is in inpatient, outpatient, or both. Speak with the supervisor when it’s time to start applying, and tailor your resume to the job needs based upon your education!!
Congratulations on completing the course. Buy the note tabs from dollar tree. Tab the book and take the tabs out when you return it.
@@Earthlycousin Thank you for responding! I appreciate you taking the time to get back to me. Fortunately, I have been using sticky notes in my book throughout the course, but for some reason, I'm getting mixed signals from my school. Saying they won't let us have any notes or tabbing in our books. I can't find it on the NHA website stating whether or not we are allowed to which is stressful lol.
I will be obtaining a CBCS certificate, and want to work in a clinical atmosphere!
Thank you so much, congrats on your Master's degree!
Congrats!!! What class did you take? I’m trying to find a class in Arizona and I haven’t had luck yet.
Have you spoken with anyone yet?
Hello! Do anyone know where i could get books i would need to study that is in this video. I graduated in 2019 and went through a few things and no longer have books. Is there a specific website to get what i need to study and sit for exam?
You’ll need the updated books for the year to sit for the exam. Only because codes and dates have changed and you’ll need them for accuracy. www.amazon.com/s?i=stripbooks&rh=p_27%3AAmerican+Medical+Association&s=relevancerank&text=American+Medical+Association&ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1 the first 3 books you’ll need. I used quizlet to study. I’ll link 2 more study websites

Hello, I will like to know where to get the books from as well please
If you don’t mind can you send me your notes
Hey, did you do in person exam? Or online? Did they have you flip through your book?
It was online. They checked my materials to make sure I had the proper books and other materials that did not belong. I had to be the only one in the room, which was my living room, and allowed one blank paper and pen for notes. They didn’t have me flip through the book, but they could see my work area the entire exam.
@@Earthlycousin so you have to bring the books but you can’t open it ??
On the exam did it have areas that made you know what blocks have what from the CMS-1500: like did it expect you to know what’s on block 18
There weren’t any blocks, but questions asking about CMS-1500. My exam didn’t have that. However, it is good to know how to fill it out and be familiar with the form just in case 😉
Hello! I'm taking my test this Friday! I wanted to know if you still have any advice when taking the exam. I'm super nervous!
Write in your book when you are studying: oncology-study of tumors on that page. Process of elimination, do not leave a question blank, use context clues, a answer maybe in another question, highlight dates in your book,
Hey! How did you do on the exam?
So funny, I was about to comment to let you know I passed! I got a 84.8%! I just want to thank you for giving us the advice to write in the notes section and even being confident in what we already learned! So thankful for you :) @@Earthlycousin
I just did my CBCS exam and worried if I failed it the 2nd time 😭 wish they give me a passing result‼️
@@daboiimj3568 let’s have high hopes!!! As long as you had your “books” I’m pretty sure you did great. And took thorough notes
@@Earthlycousin I failed the 2nd time on the NHA PSI CBCS exam :(
I have a question that hopefully you can answer I bought the NHA practice kits. From what I noticed a lot of the questions are the same on 4-5 of those quizzes are those questions going to be on the exam?
Similar question will appear on the exam.the questions you see will not be on the exam. That’s great that you bought the practice exam through them.
Ahhh gottcha. Im beyond stressed about the test 😅I take it on the 13th
@@jniki0312 how did your test go? i hope it went well, i was wondering the same thing as you... Were the questions anything like the fourth practice test on the nha website?
@@kady7013nothing from the practice test was in the actual exam
@@jniki0312 oh damn, my test is tomorrow and I've been studying the questions from the fourth practice test 🤡
Hello congratulations! Do you have actually code cases on this test or its multiple choice and just mark the correct answer?
Hey! Thank you 😊 it’s multiple choice
Do you remember the 125 questions that would be asked for the CBCS exam?
@@daboiimj3568 no. It’s random questions each time the test is given
I'm Registered for course and was wondering if any place that has cheapest books ?
I’m unsure about that because they come out with new books every year. I would compare prices on Amazon and different credible websites
Did you get certified through AAPC or AHIMA? How long was the actual test? How much time did they give you to take the test? Thank you for sharing.
Hey, I got certified through the NHA. It had 100 questions, and test was 3 hours
Hey there! I'm currently stuck in a toxic work environment and I'm looking to make a change. I've been eyeing a CBCS through this company called NHA, but I'm not sure if they're recognized enough. The thing is, the company is asking for AAPC or AHIMA certification and I'm wondering if I should go through them instead. Can you help me figure out what my best option is?
Hey Anna! It all depends on your goals if you are doing outpatient or inpatient. CBCS qualifies you to be a biller and coder and that’s what I have my cert in. I was taught to do inpatient and outpatient documentation. AAPC AND AHIMA is specific. AAPC is outpatient coding: clinics, or physicians offices; and AHIMA is inpatient coding: hospitals. I hope this helps you in the direction you want to go in. 🫶🏾
@@Earthlycousin Hey there! Thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate it. Your response indeed cleared up some of my doubts about the different certification options out there. I'm still a bit confused and would like to find out which certification would be the best fit for me. I've noticed that many companies in the healthcare industry, as well as RUclipsrs, don't seem to recommend CBCS from NHA as it lacks recognition, and employers typically prefer certifications from AAPC or AHIMA. That's why I was wondering if you or someone else could offer some insight into whether CBCS certification would still be enough to land a job.
I passed my exam recently too ! Have you been able to find work in this field yet ?
What did you use to pass? Was it open book test ?
Congratulations!!!! I have not been looking honestly. Once my children get a little older and I graduate grad school I’ll start looking
@@aniaoliviale4182 yes it is open book. You’ll have all your written notes with you
I M TAKING ON JAN 29,,,, THANK YOU FOR HELPING US,,,,,,,I HAVE ONE QUESTION LIKE WHAT IS IT MEAN BY OPEN BOOK BUT YOU CAN'T FLIP THE PAGES? I AM TAKING EXAM NEXT WEEK SO TRYING TO FIGRUE OUT JUST LITTLE NERVOUS TOO. @@Earthlycousin
So the book we have to get have to be 2023 version?
Yes. It is recommended because of updated codes and dates
Can you please send me some of your notes
So do we get to simulators on mock cases?
Yes, there are 2 workbooks that are used as homework and every page is completed during the course. In my class we went over those specific pages prior to the lesson to make sure the students understood the assignment
Oh cool I’m still in School for medical coding and billing with Purdue Global and currently taking Medical Coding I so I definitely try to keep up with everything so when the time comes I can pass the exams etc.
Anyone here take it based on studying and work experience?
I never did coding in the field; however, I have done billing as a therapist for a couple of years which brought me to take the test.
I take my exam next month ! Is the exam mostly multiple choice?
@@lifewithqueen0109 Congratulations! Yes it is multiple choice. ☺️
Is it all multiple choice ? Your video was sooo helpful I have taken so many notes on your video . And I’m also a mommy of 2 and 6 months pregnant doing this so congratulations to you as well and thank you for replying!!
I have 2 pages of notes from your video that I added to my book . THANK YOU SO MUCH
Were there any questions that were not multiple choice ?
Where to register for the exam ? Is it the AAPC?
You can go through the AAPC, but I went through NHA
Is it multipe choice
Yes!
I’ve been trying to figure out how or what certification to get and I had settled on a cbcs to start out but I’ve been seeing a lot of videos saying that no one will hire you with this. What have you guys who have gotten the certification noticed job hunting
My instructor told my class to stack certs. Im combining this cert with my degrees to become a contractor therapist and I can bill and code my patients records
You need to take the AAPC exam and get your CPC.
Is this course hard ??
That’s a difficult question to answer. If you know you typically do well with test and have great study habits, then you’ll be fine. Either way, definitely ask the teach a lot of questions and find quizzes and pre-tests online.
@@Earthlycousin thanks 😊
Do you recommend any good online schooling ?
@@sutherlandpettyAAPC
So I would like ask a question...Do I have take covid Shot to work this job?
It depends on the employer. Some state covid regulations on their job postings
I have worked for a hospital that required it.
Most will let you sign a form to decline it.
@@Earthlycousin Ohhh okay thanks
I’m sorry but the background noise and boobs out was so distracting 😮
