Absolutely! Light , but warm colors for the light areas, darks but cool colors for the shadows. Add in the darkest shadows and the cast shadows, then the highlights.
Iv only been drawing & painting for the last 5 years or so , & it's the values of light & dark I struggle with still , I can never get it right & most time put shadow & light in the wrong areas or totally opposite. Iv done a colour 1 also , that was actually fun to do. 😊

The trick , which they don't tell you is learn to view in in light and shade , forget about the colors, for the moment .
