@4:44 I remember watching that disastrous first Peyton Manning playoff game in 1853 and thinking "This guy isn't going to win a playoff game for at least another 150 years." And I was right.
Colts humiliated Denver in back to back wild card rounds. They not only outscored Denver 66-6 combined in the first half, Peyton Manning's total statline was 49/59 for 835 yards, 9 TD'S and an int. That'll never be replicated.
You should do 2 more of these, only one for defense and one for special teams. Im sure theres more legendary returners like Cordarelle and Percy Harvin and Devin Hester that we dont even know about. I nominate Detroit Lion HoFer Lem Barney, who was a corner, a punt returner, AND A PUNTER and ended up winning the '67 DROTY after picking Bart Starr off 3 times IN 10 MINUTES in the last game that season Edit: This was also the first ever AP DROTY award and his teammate Mel Farr (RB) won OROTY. The Lions are one of 2 teams to have the OROTY and DROTY in the same season. Other team was the '08 Saints
@@nb_oovanboi7750 "dogs that underperformed in fights were put to death by such means as drowning, electrocution and hanging." I'm glad he got a second chance, but I will never forget what he did.
You missed out on joe montana in super 24. 22-29, 297 yards, 5 tds, no ints, with a passer rating of 147.6. That was in the most lopsided super bowl of all time
3:57 I always remember that game because my friend Sam came back from about 80 down to win by 50 in fantasy that week because he had Vick, McCoy, Jackson, Maclin, Celek, Akers, and the Eagles defense. Fortunately for me, he was playing our friend Ronny.
As a 90’s kid, you have to put Steve Young’s 6 touchdown passes in the super bowl for the 90’s game. I mean come on, 6 touchdown passes in the super bowl!
When the PRESIDENT OF THE US tells you you made the right decision at qb.. Also - Josh Allen from the 2021 wild card is worth a mention. Literally never punted. Not once, against one of the best defenses in the league.
I mean, it turned out good, but Obama didn't have a clue. "dogs that underperformed in fights were put to death by such means as drowning, electrocution and hanging."
Dalvin Cook in the 2020 Vikings-Packers game, where he became the first player to go for over 200 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns at Lambeau Field in the Vikings 28-22 victory deserves an honorable mention.
I was having dinner at a bar with a friend, mostly paying attention my friend, not the Eagles/Deadskins. However, I swear every time I glanced at the TV, Vick was doing something amazing in that game. It was insane. I hope my memory isn't faulty, but I do have a slight recollection of that Kellen Winslow game (I was six or seven but my dad would have absolutely had the game on). Just vaguely remember my dad saying over and over that Winslow was incredible. Which is accurate.
That Vick vs McNabb game is very telling in that Andy Reid was willing to hang 59 points on McNabb and DC. I'd bet Reid was not a huge McNabb fan toward the end of their time together
I was born in 1974. I saw alts of these games. Or like yourself I would go back and research eras before. This is a breath of fresh air to see someone young that knows their history of the NFL. I was 19 the games Emmitt played with a separated shoulder. John Madden said “this type of performance in that much pain, brings tears to my eyes” It was the last regular season game that CBS had the NFC. Fox came the the next year. It was our last year with Jimmy as our coach. Great video, well put together and ill subscribe. Us old timers like to see the NFL as a whole, and the history be accurate.
Pats blowout vs the Titans is a great game 59-0 Tom throws a record 5 TDS in 1 quarter actually 10 minutes with 5 minutes to spar easily could’ve kept breaking records but spared them by sitting out the 3RD and 4TH quarter
Michael Vick did this time with the dog thing so I don't care about that but when Michael Vick went to Philly his arm strength impressed the hell out of me
I'd also like to submit for consideration Steve Young's performance in Super Bowl 29. He threw six TDs (still a Super Bowl record) to close out probably his best season ever, where he led the league in passer rating for the fourth consecutive year, set a new record for season passer rating, was named MVP for the second time, and led the 49ers to a league-best 13-3 record with a win over the Cowboys in the NFC championship. The actual Super Bowl game itself is impressive on its own (even if it was against the underdog Chargers), but it's the perfect way to end an incredible season.
One of the best games i watched recentish was the colts vs steelers, when andrew luck and ben were on fire, ben had like 12 tds in two games, luck was on a crazy yards per game pace. Back and forth all night. Amazing game to watch
The best single player performance is probably November 14th, 1943, when Sammy Baugh threw 4 touchdown passes, intercepted 4 passes on defense (still tied for most in a single game 80 years later), and had a punt that went 81 yards
tom brady in the 2009 59-0 game against the titans where he threw 6 touchdowns with 5 in the second and only played 2.5 quarters. he could’ve thrown 10 if we weren’t up 52-0 by the time he got off the field
Really surprised you didn't mention Brett Favre vs the Raiders in 2003. He went 22-30 for 399 yds and 4 TDs. 311 yds and all 4 TDs in the 1st half. Only played 3 quarters. And one last tidbit ..... It was the night after his father died. Greatest performance not only in MNF history, but NFL history.
I want to give an honorable mention to Matt Flynn because he broke the packers single game passing yards record with 480 and tied the single game touchdown passes record with 6
Devin Hester changed 2 games to directly win the game for the Bears - Denver and St Louis. Someone who touches the ball 6 times and wins a game should be looked at- more importantly let's agree the best return man of all time deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
3:52 Gotta stop calling it QBR. QBR maxes at 100 and is a completely different metric than passer rating. 150.7 was his passer rating, not QBR. Hate that people are incorrectly calling it that. Come on, man
90s: Randy Moss' Thanksgiving game Derrick Thomas' 7 sacks (still a record, even in a loss) Any big game from Barry Sanders. All those choices would've been better than Emmitt Smith with a bum shoulder
Barry Sanders, one trick pony. Terrell Davis better, didn’t quit until forced out by injury. Ain’t no punk just cuz he has a migraine in the chip, mvp of the damn game.
MATT DUNIGAN and DANNY BARRETT threw for 601 yards and then 714 yards in a single CFL game in the same year, that broke the CFL record again and again in 1993 I believe that was. DUNIGAN is the guy who took over for WARREN MOON back in 1984 and he was a baller. He is a CFL LEGEND and should've tried the NFL too. He is from TEXAS. You are a unique mind I think you are SAVANT level genius. Best regards to you, TUB FROG. MIKE PRINGLE - Edmonton, Sacramento, Baltimore, Montreal as I recall his teams I think were these. PRINGLE rushed for 2000 yards in successive seasons which will never be broken in the CFL as all time records for rushing. PRINGLE was special too, all these guys above were as good as GARCIA and FLUTIE in their own way. ALLEN PITTS was incredible as a possession SLOT RECIEVER. There are so many players you could look into. But these listed above, as a football historian, maybe you wanna look into 3 down football?

Obviously there was a ton of games I didn’t cover, but what was your favorite individual performance you ever saw?
I remember watching Nick Foles throwing 7 tds as a kid, Maybe cover his career in the next video?
LaDainian Tomlinson's 2006 MVP year. Any of those 14-2 games 😎🤙🏽 he would have 3-4 TDs per game.
@4:44 I remember watching that disastrous first Peyton Manning playoff game in 1853 and thinking "This guy isn't going to win a playoff game for at least another 150 years." And I was right.
I thought he was gonna win in 1861 but then he had to fight in the Civil War. Always wondered what could've been.
Nick foles coming back from a concussion thinkin he’s Payton manning and throwing 7td n 1 game
In 2009, Drew Brees torched the Patriots on MNF - 18/23, 371 yds, 5 TDs, 158.3 QB rating.
