This actress delivered a fantastic performance in this series. She makes you hate her and pity her on cue.

@@minghaoxu3421 it wasn’t her dog. She was manipulated and framed to get rid of her and her kids intentionally excluded from the throne so another’s child/eventual child could benefit. Her children were not well looked after when she died. She was doomed since she was from Korea. A hostage more than a real consort. Her children had almost zero chance of the throne. She was in a complicated situation.
Among the things that differentiate the two villains (Jia & Ling) is Jia genuinely cares about the important people in her life including her maid..while Ling ready to sacrifice people who love her (her maids, her boyfriend, even her own mother) for her own gain
Ling's mother didn't love her. She just made her daughter as sources of her own wealth. But about Ling's servant and boyfriend, i agree.

Jia is a much better villain than Ling - not in terms of evilness but in terms of intelligence, prowess, character and development

You see the real villain in this series wasn't Jin Yuyan or Wei Yanwan or even the empress but the emperor.
I really liked Jia ..in the begining you really hate her and then you understand that for the people she loved ..her family ..her lover ..she sacrified all ..in that time where power for the family was all , she a woman what could she do.... .but to abide by her duty ..but sadly in the end she died alone ...betrayed by the family she gave her life for .....
Ehhh for me its hard to have any empathy for her even after hearing her sad back story. She planned and instigated the death of many people in the palace with little remorse /: she only expressed regret when she was about to die. at the end she got what she deserved.

Jia didn't feel for the miscarriages that she caused. She didn't care for the babies or their mothers. She framed, she killed. She used others to do her dirty deeds.
I really liked Jia's character. Too sad though, imagine if she was actually in love with the Emperor instead~ She had sons she raised on her own, she's charismatic and playful that he liked to indulge, the Empress did not see her as a threat~ If she wasn't greedy she would've been living a good life~ But she loved the wrong man and did everything for him in exchange for what? It reminds me of Shu Fei too. Loved the Emperor, not calculating but still wasn't fully trusted, wasn't able to raise her son and not totally loved, also lived a sad life. Both opposite characters and situation but if the good parts were combined, life would've been good for them~
This makes me so sad for her too. Poor girl! Was so excited to see her love just once more after so long and ended up doing things all wrong.

Jia didn't love the emperor - he was her ladder for unlimited power only. All her life she loved her clan's heir.
Even if she loved him she would have been miserable the emperor didn't treat any of them well
Man so many lives ruined by the emperor (and a selfish, annoying one at that) she could have been so happy if she had been allowed to stay with her first love. I know the character has done horrendous things, but that’s how she tried to survive the constant struggle for power in the royal harem. I haven’t watch this drama-only clips-b/c I loved yanxi palace and consort ling was the heroine in that drama so it’s hard to see her as a conniving evil character😂

Story of yanxi palace is literally one of my all time fav series! A bit slow at times but you get hooked watching the unconventional, smart consort ling exact sweet justice on many a cruel character🤣hope you check it out!
I have trouble watching a lot of historical dramas because it seems like the heroine is constantly being bullied with very little real justice so this drama was amazing to me. I also really liked how the emperor was portrayed. All in all a good drama with great character development and interesting plots!
That's doubtful. It seems that the King could have sent any other women to be the concubine to the Qing Emperor but he chose her. Later in the show, she was thrown under the bus by the King to removed any bad reputation.
The emperor didn't pick her. The Yu king did.
The Emperor's not at fault on this one since it was her first love,the Yu Clan's prince,that sent to be Qianlong's concubine in the first place for the glory of her mother country

You would to in their situation. It's all about survival. Jia's status is really high compared to the rest. They can't go against her alone, nobody will believe them. But if all if them points to her, then it will turn heads for sure.

The series is far lighter than reality, I often read some history. Women's life are pretty harsh from the past, if JIA discovered by the emperor in real life, she probably executed together with her whole family in 9 generations. 🤔

the prince was wearing the robe of a joseon king. so I guess the "prince of the yu clan" is actually joseon's king? was it king yeongjo?
the costumes are far from accuracy but it was a nice attempt. it's cool to see a korean figure in a Chinese drama.
According to historical records, Concubine Jia was from a clan that was originally Korean but was later promoted to Manchurian Nobility status.
@@blenderpain8249 yesss, although i feel kinda confused seeing how in the drama, they portrayed concubine jia as someone from the same clan that the king of joseon belongs to. since the jeonju yi clan was the ruling clan of joseon, is concubine jia from the yi clan too? is she royalty? i doubt, but we’ll never really know 😂
@@ynyn2875 That would be cool but I don't think she was royalty. As far as I know, during the Qing Dynasty, Korea was not subjugated under Manchu rule. During the early Qing Dynasty, Manchu soldiers tried to invade and subjugate Korea. Maybe there are a few Korean clans that changed sides to the Qing side and got promoted to be noble Manchu clans but the ruling clans are clearly still on the Korean side. Besides, Korea had other things to worry about such as internal corruption and Japanese invasions.

What's the name of the actress who portrayed Consort Jia? I really like her and her acting. I bet she has many dramas. Also, I figured out why she always catches my eyes. She light brown eyes! It's not really common for Asians to have light brown eyes unless they have foreign blood or are really lucky with their genes.

Irrespective of whatever evil she committed how can they all treat a pregnant lady like this and endanger the innocent child in her. They could have punished her once she gave birth. Emperor is truly evil. Treating his so called wives like toys.
They did plan on waiting for her to give birth. Jia couldn't contain herself however and kept making a bad situation worse and not calming herself. Also, it's the mothers number one duty to think of the child in her womb, you can't expect to ride on the "hurray I'm pregnant so I'm safe from harm train". She should have never done all the things she did because in the end it caught up to her and sadly her panicking reaction knowing the possible hells her maid was going to face and the rest she set into the motion the loss of the child. No one elses' fault but her own.

I think she is both, she is bad but not to the level of bad done by the real crook who will be found out at the end of drama.

Actually, it has been said by herself and even her own son that she loves the Prince of the Yu clan more than anyone else, even above her own children, family and the emperor. Take this clip for example, when the emperor takes her children and will probably take the one she is carrying now, she instead chooses to kneel before the Emperor to beg him to spare her lover when she finds out he’s in trouble. Her children aren’t even an afterthought. She has lived entirely for her former lover and no one else. Also she did many horrible acts and there is no “good” side to her bad side. You can write a list of the people she’s killed and I honestly think she’s worse then the other villain because Jia can get shit done without half the scheming. Brutal and efficient.

Although things can go unnoticed, generally all concubines picked to serve the emperor are virgins and come from nobility. Women of nobility are guarded against having any pre-marital sexual encounters. Thus, the chances of a high nobility women of contracting an STD is probably a lot less likely than a brothel worker.

@@leenonme [spoileralert] it was actually confusing hehehe... But it was clear that Noble Consort Jia was in love with the prince. She went to be Hongli's concubine due to the prince's request. She fougth so hard in the palace to win Hongli's favor. And she was actually succeeded several times. However, her main goal was to preserve the glory of Yu clan and to win the prince's heart. In later episodes when she was arrested due to her another wrongdoing, Hongli finally dismantled all of her titles and locked her in Qixiang Palace for good. The Prince sent letter to Hongli which said that Jia was an adoptive daughter of Yu Clan and that the clan had nothing to do with her. So, basically the prince abandoned her to save Yu Clan's glory. She the admitted all of her wrongdoings to Ruyi, including the death of Empress Xiaoxian, Prince Yonghuang and concubine Mei's son. In more later episodes, the death of Noble Consort Chun and Prince Yongzhang were also related to her intrigue.
