She actually said: “I’m the Empress, sitting on this phoenix that you’ve always been dreaming off. Punishment and reward will certainly be the same via your eyes”.
Whoaa.... that far more impactful. Thank you for explaining
Too Dominant! I really like this line and the actress's performance!
I think ultimately what she said is to mean "i can punish you or reward whenever I want"
"Your tears are to precious. If you want to cry. Don't cry in front of me. In my eyes, your tears are no different from the dirty water dripping from the eaves." The level of sophistication, elegance and savagery delivered knows know equal. I have no idea what this show is but now I'm more than interested to start watching. Omg!
Oh, you have to watch this drama!

Take the opportunity to learn Mandarin then. You will enrich yourself
Jia deserved that. After making that ruckus with the monk, she had the nerve to wear red in the presence of the empress. In China during that time, it's only the empress that can wear red unless there is special tradition that requires them all to wear one
She had some nerve then. She should be punished for her impertinence.
Gold, red, purple and black were also sometimes limited to just high ranking nobles and/or just the emperor and empress. Those dyes were really difficult to make and extremely expensive... also smelly lol especially purple
Can you tell me the title??
@@korita1798 Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace
@@shoshoyi that’s the name?
The Empress's voice exudes so much dominance and elegance and such a sultry-ness...I hope to acquire this type of skill as an actor
I aspire to be this way in real life.
I know right,it’s different from other voices,so calming yet commanding.Even her face exuded that Power.
The actress is Zhou Xun, she is really famous for her unique raspy voice 😂
Yup she is gorgeous and perfect example how a queen should be otherwise i hated tht previous empress she was afraid of the emperor
There was no shouting required; there was no elaborate expressions of anger required. She is the definition of 'elegance' and 'authority' in this scene. 'For I am the reigning Empress of the Qing Dynasty, chosen by the Emperor himself. I can bestow you power; and I can take them away as I will'
The concubines already knew that empress’ intention, to punish Jia. The other concubines are very sensible/intelligent.
They all had it with her. She kept flaunting her status over them and bullied and framed them left and right. no matter how far up she is she still needed allies in the harem yet she made them all her ennemies. Ruyi on the other hand was far more reasonable which is why they took her side.
@@malakzaiter2291 the other concubines knew the cat is out of the bag. Being friends with Jia had become a major liability. They knew where the butter to their bread was coming from.
Actually, they had all been bullied or threatened by noble consort Jia in the past and they all sided with the empress to punish Jia.
Everyone in unison vouched that the empress had nothing to do with anything. The loyalty and fear she exudes without raising her voice or lifting a finger. Composed till the end. Yasss queen!
I also viewed this as a battle of wills. And our Empress Ruyi won out through out-stubborning Jia, and everyone else ganging up on her in their own subtle ways. I loved how Chun gladly put on her earrings without fuss the moment she saw Jia was causing trouble too.
I just love Rongpei. She is loyal, honest, straightforward and fearless. The most loyal servant and friend to Empress Ruyi.
I love Rongpei and Suoxin too. Their loyalty is remarkable
FYI: in "Huanzhu Gege" (forgot which depiction/season) Step Empress's old chief lady-in-waiting was called "Rong _momo_ "
Yes rong pei = rong mo mo 🤣
@@NouveauHomesPH it's not clear in "Ruyi" whether Rongpei is her given name (meaning she has other surname) or her actual whole name (surname Rong, given name Pei)
what about A Ruo? 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
I love how Ruyi just sits there, not raising her voice, spinning that giant pearl…. And Jia just gets what she deserves….
the passive agressiveness is legendary 💖
Ahhhhh, the world of us women at work. I had to deal with the head nurse who was passive aggressive even to the Dr. One day, he just looked at me and said, , "I can't stand her bullshit passive aggressive crap! But did he say anything..nooooooo! 🤣🤣🤣 I hated working with a bunch of women.
This randomly came in recommendation, but I have to say the empress really acted like empress. Playing cool and giving a brutal blow just by playing it nice. Just like an empress, composed and witty.
Pain from being forced to wear earing is little compared to what Suoxin has to live with limping leg for the rest of her life
Okay, now i'm curious. Suoxi is the girl who get the earings right? Why she's limping? I haven't watch the drama, probably not going to but can you tell me what happen? Thank you
@@rdzy123 i wonder too BUT I GUESS SUOXI WAS LIMPING COZ OF THE PUNISHMENT, remember a clip or ep where suoxi had to be sent to the punishment bureau for investigation about the alleged affair of Ruyi and the monk???

"Your tears are no different from dirty water dripping from the eaves..."
Good grief.
Her ear pains is nothing compared to the limping pains her servant SuoXin endured and got from Jia’s schemes.
At least Suoxin got a happier life compared to her at the end. Suoxin married a good man, a respectable imperial doctor, and live peacefully outside the palace, no longer being dragged by the whole harem drama. Jia lost her sons and died in loneliness.
What happened to Servant Suo Xin?
@@keldonmcfarland2969 Jia set up a scheme to frame Empress Ruyi as to having an affair with the head monk who was visiting.. Suoxin was taken to be interrogated and they broke her leg while she was under torture.
I finished watch all 87 episodes in just 3 weeks. My only regret was they made Ruyi so passive. This scene is the only time where she looked and did something that we all believe an empress would do. Dominant, fierce and assuring. It's not easy to control the vicious women in the harem. Everyone was vying to take the throne.
I have no clue what this is our whats going on but i am invested.
Chile so am i ! 👁👄👁😂😂
I know right 😭😭😭
Me too. Where can I find this?
Now i need to watch the whole show
Same! 😂
I think Wan and Shu spoke the most sense. They basically said “You’re the same as us. We are all servants to the emperor and the empress.”
So by giving her those earrings the Empress is basically saying Know Your Place? 😂
Haha yes "Know your place" and also as a punishment for her deed that caused the empress servant to be limp because of her lies and accusations that the empress was having an affair.
That and Carnelian in Chinese culture translates to “horse brain” (Source: Internet)
@@yari110 nothing to do with what carnelian literally means but because ruyi/empress was accused of having an affair with a monk and a bracelet made of carnelian was the symbol of their love,,hence the carnelian is a reminder of the incident
I think the “punishment” was more than generous, and really like a lesson for her to stop making stupid decisions FOR HER OWN GOOD and for her offspring. It’s not evil at all, it was smart....hopefully, the girl finally got the lesson and matured.
I don’t think she could have gone far with her punishment because she still is a sub wife to the king. And she would need the king’s permission to really do anything physically torturing
I love the subtle show of power Ruyi did when she reinstated Yuyan's status as Noble Consort. She definitely demonstrated that she has the power as the de facto empress no matter what Yuyan said about her being only the second wife.
‘I can bestow you power; and I can take away your powers. For I am the REIGNING EMPRESS no matter what’.
Loved it.
@@gp2779 IKR? Ruyi manifesting Boss Bitch Energy.
That was one way of causing ruyi pain later alongside wei lady
Ruyi is indeed supposed to be the original empress instead of Fuca Langhua, but was just given the Consort title because Fuca Langhua was selected to be the main wife. Even the empress dowager acknowledged the fact that Ruyi was indeed meant to be the first empress of Qianlong during the previous episodes wherein Fuca Langhua was arguing with her which princess to marry off. So Jin Yuyan, you better not diss Ruyi.
If I remember correctly it was because a change had happened behind the screens, so Hongli´s father, Yonghzehn emperor, did not want him to make Ruyi his 1st wife. There had also been problems with the 2nd empress of Yonghzehn emperor, same Nara clan as Ruyi.
@@realmofthesenses at the time, yongzheng’s empress was ruyi’s aunt, who was also the current empress dowager’s nemesis, was locked away due to her past crimes, so there was no way they were gonna let ruyi be the empress

That lady in purple who pierced the ear or Jia, have a tounge like a sword. Even in front of the Queen. This is exciting!
She is the empress personal attendant practically her right hand in the harem. She knows that empress being a model for all ladies in the empire and bounded by her royal etiquette and duties cannot stoop low to the level of that foxy concubine and scold her in harsh words therefore she is doing the job in her stead.

Dont worry Toya, i dont even know the shows title, until i've been hooked ;)
She also happens to be one of my favourite and the most loyal servant in the entire drama. This was partly because Ru Yi (The Step Empress) did not merely see her as 'just a servant', she even invited her (with the status of a slave) to sit down with her (a noblewoman) over some tea just moments before she passed away. It was such a bittersweet moment knowing that the servant (Rong Pei), killed herself just to be together with Ru Yi after her passing.

Their acting is amazing!!! So tense and chilling!
Ruyi didn't have the heart for being mean. I could tell it was difficult for her, but she did it for Souxin. Meanwhile, I can see Hailan, Ling and chun would have been happy to do even more to Jia
I can tell that she's not someone that enjoys harming others, by the fact that she's rolling the prayer beads in her hands while Jia was being punished. But she had to do it as a form of punishment and to concretize her status as the reigning Empress.
when i was a child, i liked to watch these chinese traditional shows. but when i grew up, just realized most of all these chinese imperial shows focus on backstabbing and unhappy political lives in the palace, with wicked scheming people here and there. the schemings are always similar, and grew out bored of it, because it's heart-wrenching to see people backstabbing each other. beautiful place with beautiful people, but no happiness. how sad. but thank you for bringing back the hobby of watching these dramas, can enjoy it after a long while.
But these people are amazing, in how they can co-exist with each other even though they're kinda enemies - can you imagine several modern wives of a husband, gathering regularly?? these people's patience are very high.
Rongpei literally said: don't you even dare to spill in front of the emperor or i'll--- *cut throat gesture
