- This video will give you the basic steps in learning how to go big. Because between you and I this is what Kiteboarding is all about. But again make sure you are far away from the shore especially if you are using the SCREAMER model from EPICKITES. This kite will take you for a ride. No wonder why we call it the "Screamer".

It’s so good you were explaining and demonstrating the mistakes as well as the correct procedure Thank you... 5 years later
Thanks for all the videos you make dimitri, it helps a lot
Super awesome tutorial bro! I added it to the list.
making it look easy dim!! love the last show off land on the beach move!
Wow, this is such a clear video. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
I so need to get back into this sport. Missed it too much! :(
Great Job describing how to do big jumps, thanks, Looking forward to watching more of your vids and getting more tips..
Right on for these videos, Dimitri. Thanks!
Sorry my comment is a bit late, I'm now kiting for 9 months now and I really love your teaching, it is well explained, well demonstrated, I would really want to meet you one day to learn some more stuff from you, where do you kite normally. Thank you Dimitri and the people who criticise you, they are jealous ....... !!!
Thanks for this and other videos.
I finally got some big jumps and gentle landings after following the advice to 1-2-3 (pull_backhand - pop_upwind - pull_bar).
Also I am impressed by the hang-time and jump height I get with the 14m 3G Screamer, as compared to the other similar sized or smaller kites.
I specially enjoyed you seeing your beginner employee follow the steps, very informative and even entertaining.
Thanks again.
All the pleasure is mine. Once again thank you for choosing EPICKITES.COM as your kite quiver.
Thanks for the demo. Now jumping better than I ever have....All I think now is 1...2.3.....4 love it. Cheers. And keep the how to going. Would love something about kite loops.
Super video has helped me a lot. Now I also do long and high jumps and no mini jumps .Is still not perfect but much better. Thank you very much.
really really good video :) i will try this on my next kiteboarding trip !
that dismount at the end is pretty cool :)
Great instruction I will try it!
Awesome video great help thanks!
I saw a few times.Thx for your demo. Very well explained. Now the practice.
I gonna try this in an hour in water of 12°C . I think i will also scream !!!!
Great video best by far
Great video thanks
great video! very helpful, thanks :)
I learned how to jump on your tutorial. Thanks dude!
Good explained.
tks
Kosta
Wow that is the coolest thing. I'm getting a preown 14m Hp nemesis kite. I feel like I can do this.
Très bonne explication technique et visuelle.
Nice video!! Good stuff!
Dimitri thanks so much for the video
great video, keep posting
Hello Alex sanz. Well it all depends what you like. Seat Harness are better because you can load more weight and pop easier. But again it's all up to the rider. Now concerning me, I love the chest harness. But mine is very loose because I have broken 5 of my ribs from different accidents so I can't tight the straps and velcro because it digs into my broken ribs.
That's the reason!? I get blue spots on my belly with a waist harness. Too tight or not used to it enough? I'I've seen more tutorials with instructors wearing the waist harness loose and they seem very ok. Don't know anymore
Brilliant video
That's a great tutorial!
AMAZING !!
Awesome video and so concise Dimitri. I've never had it spelled out so simply. It seems to me that when one knows what they are talking about, one can explain it in the way that you do. I've been kiting for a couple of years, never took any lessons... been working with a 16m Naish x4 c kite and a Litewave Designs 152 board. (my height 6'2" 220lbs) I've been launching with reckless abandon and not understanding why sometimes I crashed, sometimes I don't. ( I wonder ??? I'm a bull in a china shop BTW )
I now have a Naish park 14m with a Cabrinha Excaliber 142cm and have brakes and stability. Can't wait to try jumping with your tips... Thank you very much for posting your video... It makes perfect sense to me now after years of just throwing it... Step one right hand... than two and three quickly.. than just before apex, left hand bar and get that kite diving... Thanks again Dimitri !!! In SoCal, Billy D
+William Dunn YOU ARE WELCOME.
Well done!
thanks for the great video...is it the same steps in the winter on the snow?
it looks a nice kite.btw my firsth kite is eclipse truster 2007. :)
You are very good rider, this people they are just jealous, I hope one day I will be riding like you,,, make more videos ..
Espectacular
Thanks so much for this video! After watching it lots of times. I did my first jumps today and got about 7ft off the water. Thanks for the great tutorials!
Jack Fin Now you need to try on the SCREAMER model from EPICKITES. Then you will be kiting like a pro.
I need to have my hernia operated on first!
DIMITRI MARAMENIDES
You are insane, that is the normal comment, but if it werent for u, the limits are hard to find, and guys...who ever thinks is born to be perfect, and have no accidents in life, even if you are pushing close to the accidents, the spirit of the dventurer is like that, this vid, or the crash vid, I think we all have been there is the spot of oh no, this is going wrong, then the experience adds up, and there u go, nice vids man, really cool and instructive. (we learn from mistakes, but if you dont make mistakes, one you are perfect, 2 you are not looking for learning, and this is auto learning guys, the ultimate learning experience, yeah I hate breaking my ribs, ankles, kneees....and not only in kiting, I am a sport junkie, on my own time, when I teach, I try to transmit in to what exactly my student is getting into..Cool Vid man!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good video
Cool video...nice....
Cool video :)
Hello David. Check the EPICKITES.COM to learn more about what kites. Or email me directly so I can help you the best way possible choosing your kite.
Tried your jumping technique today with my 2019 ozone zephyr 17m and very impressed at how much air. Landing was easier using my flydoor xl 170cm, wind was around 45kph and at 55 years old I was totally happy. Keep up the entertaining videos.👍
Great. I am happy my video helped you. Also if you are interested I do have few OZONE EDGE 2019 kites for sale. These kites are new and they were my son's kites during the Youth Olympic games he was in last year. For example I do have a new 19m OZONE EDGE for $800. The retail price is around $2200. If you are interested you can always contact me via email at: dimitri@epickites.com
@@epickites Thanks Dimitri, I'll keep that in mind.👍
Great video but here's a video tip - when uploading to RUclips don't allow RUclips to "stabilize" your video! It wants to do that when it sees lots of movement in the video - however it causes a weird warping effect. (can see it on the freeze frames)
I wish i could choose my equipment like that HMMM 9, 10,6, no 12 thats perfect.... i want to jump big do i have to have to be a manufacturer..... lol i do love these vids
wow bellissimo
Dimitri, will this technique work as well on a bow kite? I'm used to holding my edge and sending the kite while pulling down on the bar. I let the kite rip me off the water. When cutting hard upwind after sending per your video I end up doing whirlybirds- wicked, not getting yanked like you do. I have seen you ride and have not seen anyone since match your height and distance off flat water. Let me know if an adjustment is necessary for my Cabrihna bow kites to catch half your air. Thx
what did you use to film those POV clips. GoPro chest mount or helmet? Great video!
Makes me want to start kiteboarding.
Did you?
i saw you in Miami at crendon
Hey what's a good side kite n board for a kid that's 5 ft n his 115lbs. Air 25 n down
NAPAT ABSILLIS7 hours ago
are you joking???? 22 knots and jumping you don't ever wear a fucking leash please learn to kite before telling your viewers bullshit.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please watch your language Mr Napat. From what you wrote I can obviously see that you have no idea about kiting. Yes kiting is a dangerous sport like every sports out there, and yes for safety you should wear a helmet, life vest, booties, gloves, knee pads elbow pads. Then if you have all these then wear a leash. Because a leash is very very dangerous. It's like dragging a missile behind you. More accidents happens with people wearing leashes. So please make sure you get kiteboarding lessons Mr.Napat before venturing in the water in order to be safe. Thank you.
DIMITRI MARAMENIDES I hope he doesn't mean "safety leash" :D Regarding other comments, i just realized it was you with that awful crash in that older video, damn! Good thing everything worked up fine (i hope).
Regarding NAPAT, give him a ride on screamer, let him show u how to jump over that iron pylon. I bet he will scream but not from the height :D
Very good pointers and nice perspective on jumping, i hope i don't do accidental loop :D
And i want to see some more of that nice downwinders!
Something should be said about how you sheet out a bit after sending the kite up to 12, when the kite is on it's way up.. Then sheet in during pop to get maximum BOOST
good tip, ill remember that.,
Dimitris, Great instructions! I ve been trying for long to manage good jumps but definetely your comments are clear and simple. Still a q: Do u have to go a little downwind and then start initiating the sequence?? Coz going downwind gives u more speed and opportunity to go easier upwind the moment you pull the bar
dont go downwind before a jump. keep a good edge to keep the lines tense.
For a pop or any trick based on a raley you go downwind before you load and pop.
good luck
Very good explanation Dimitri, but where the hell are gone Eclipse kites? Weren't you a co-founder and developer of this brand? I owned a 12, it could handle nuclear wind but in low the kite was falling down like a stone. Is Epic an Eclipse reborn?
Thanks and keep up your good work!
Hey NAPAT take a wild Guess what the board hits when you use a board leash !!!
@DIMITRI don't you do a 'step 2.5' ? I mean - you seem to agressively steer the kite to 12, and when you pushed off, you seemed to pull the bar to maximize power. Am I right, coz it is hard to see exactly in the vid? Or one should pull the bar all the way already at 'step 1', when it starts going to 12?
I am the most jealous person in the world right now. I had a favorite hobby was flying stunt kites and I used to surf and water ski and sail but my time is perhaps over at 57 It's unlikely I will have this kind of time and or money to do this. I wonder if there are kids out there just doing this and traveling the world finding the right spots to do this. And foil baording
Hello Dimitri. I want to ask about step 3. When you say jump off you mean pop? Tnx . P.s. when do you pull the bar to max power? Right when you pop or a little sooner or later?
NICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice spot, where is it?
Great video. Thanks. Shouldn't you be slightly go downwind just for a second before you edge hard, pop and jump? I can see this movement at the pros , but this movement is not explained in the video.
Or shouldn't it be done?
it gives you some extra speed and that will give you some extra height
Great video Dim. But what about sheeting out (step 3.5)? Also noticed, you're not re-directing the kite forward (in front of you) too soon, which is important because you want to allow the kite to pull you up as high as physically possible, *then* redirect. Sorry one more question: any different with higher AR kites like Ozone Chrono?
You sheet out when you are ready to land. For example if I jump too far and I see I am coming close to land I will sheet out by pushing the bar away from me so the kite can depower and bring me down softly.
coooooool men ......a good instructor need cooool
Step 2.5 LOOP!!!
I like your video, but I think jumping should be done farther from the beach and trees.
If your a scared little bitch that is lol.
giving demos of the screamer
Very good video. Perhaps you would like to see mine.
Yes Maciej you are right. Always wear a helmet a life jacket a leach and stay a way from the trees and shore.
are you joking???? 22 knots and jumping you don't ever wear a fucking leash please learn to kite before telling your viewers bullshit.
yeah thats good, your point?
DIMITRI MARAMENIDES i'm a instroctor i work in a kiteschool in morocco , there is forbieden to use a lishe ! to minimise accidents , but we can use GoJoo it's something goes on the board it helps to reache easly the board and it's very usefull , you can finde mour about it on northkiteproduct ,
thanks for your advisec
zakaria
+zakaria surfkaouki he is talking about leach to the kite, no to the board...
+NAPAT ABSILLIS Kite leash can be seen connected at time 3:36.
watched vid ! but i have been doing big air , but i found its practice , and all three things at once ! attack at speed then edge , in one move redirect kite pull bar release from water, enjoy the view
Wow, you're very good at this sport lol. How long since you started kiteboarding? I've been trying to jump but I'm too scared to do so and I always end up having a faceplant into the water.
I started 2 weeks ago. The only reason I am able to kite like this is because of the EPICKITES.COM. For more info check www.epickites.com under BIO.
DIMITRI MARAMENIDES
man...where is this place???
I watch a lot of these videos and the things you say are obvious but i wonder about details because there are a lot of things you can alter and still follow your rules.
For example.
1)What preassure/trim is best to have? Is it good to have the bar on top, close to being overpowerd like having much to pull or is it better to have a good medium trim, keeping the bar in the middle?
2) Where do you have your kite before takeoff (elevation angle)? Like at 10 but deep in the power zone or more above your head?
3) How far do you pull your kite up in the elevation angle? Do you want to have your kite at 1 deeper in the power zone or above your head?
4) When you jump, do you jump up or against the wind or just with the lift?
Thx
Hello Peter. I realized people loose interest after 2 minutes of watching a video. This is the reason why I try to make most of my videos under 3 minutes except the "HOW TO VIDEOS" which are between 5 to 8 minutes long. Now if I have to add every small details then it will be around 45 to 60 minutes HOW TO video. So if people want to learn more all they have to do is take the "DIMITRI BOOT CAMP" that I offer: Check the link and videos of people taking the DB camp: www.epickiteskiteboarding.com/dimitri-boot-camp/
If I go up a little higher than 5 meters, the following happens frequently.
Sometimes my body turns left after jumping like I did a back roll, and sometimes my body turns right like a front roll.
Whenever I jump, I'll find a solution if it's the same phenomenon, whether it's left or right, but I don't know how to solve it because my body turns left and right. Please help me.
You need to make sure as soon as you take off from a jump to keep your core tight so your body won't start turning unwillingly.
Office guy 😂😂😂
This is the best break down tutorial of jumping! 1 - 2 - 3 - 4! Next thing im 4 meters high then landing on my balls!!!
Thanks dude you rule!
I learn how to jump now, during snowkiting season in my area. I have a trouble on landing, when I do the 4th step, pull forward hand, the kite appear to be not on 10 or 11 or 9, but in the middle of the wind window in the stronges part of it, a little bit higher of 6 o'clock. If I pull, not so hard, the tension of lines disappear, and kite fall down on the ground. Also, I don't know, how to manage my legs with skis, it always goes wrong.
Hello "fujimotosa". The reason you are not landing softly is because of the kite you are using. You need a kite that is fast so it responds to your command. So when you are getting to land the kite should be at 10 o'clock going towards 9 o'clock to big you momentum. And you need to go put your board looking downwind and then once you land edge upwind.
@@epickites
Thank you! I analysed my way to jump. I think the problem was, that I understood too literally 12 o'clock, I put kite over my head, but instead I should position it on 12 o'clock in front of me. I will test it soon!
I can't seem to get this right. I can jump 8+ m high without step 2 (upwind turn) and i spend a lot of sessions trying to add it to the technique but I always Always have rotation issues that I never get when I leave the sudden upwind turn out. What am I doing wrong??
Use your core tight to keep from letting your body rotating 😉👍

Very nice Mr.read1986, this video is one of my favorite. Any way, if you are going to post something, please post something interesting because all your post are very childish and very immature. Obviously some thing is not right with you. Let me know if you need help and will do my best to help you.
+read1986 Sorry to disappoint you, but this guy works for us he is not my student. He is my EPIC web designer. And any one who works for EPICKITES needs to know how to kite. So he was a perfect Guinea pig in order to make this video. Let me know if you need anything else "read1986"?
Who can dislike this?!!
people who know how to kiteboard. so sorry to say me
stoke!
Where us yr kite school.at?
Did "Office Guy" make session 13 or get launched into outer space?
Hey, thanks for the video, but my problem is that when I'm landing, I start falling too quickly and the landing is too hard. If I drop my kite when I'm closer to the water, will it help?
Hello Malkin. One of the problem might be the kite you are using. You can email me at: dimitri@epickites.com and let me know what kites you are using. Also maybe you are not flying your kite too aggressively.
Thanks for the reply. I'll try to fly my kite faster. I'm renting equipment from a kite school, so there's not much I can do about the kite - I'll just learn to deal with it!
what am i doing wrong if, sometimes when i launch i end up coming under/infront of the kite and it falls out of the sky any tips?
+logan hannay You are not moving the kite. Once you take off you still have to move the kite and make sure your kite is always in front of you. Then once you are ready to land pull on your front hand so the kite dives for speed. Again you need to have a fast kite. If you try a RENEGADE from EPICKITES.COM you will see a big difference in responsiveness. And that is what you want on a kite. Same thing with the SCREAMER model but the SCREAMER is more an advance kite.
Anyone know what is Nobolaron Manual about? I hear most people can jump higher and dunk in basketball with Nobolaron Manual (google search it).

Hey calm down Jimmy! I guess he is Greek and not Russian, but even if he is, it doesn't matter. He made a really good contribution, couple of people liked it, so what's your problem? What did you make apart of your stupid comments, where you didn't have a reason to be aggressive? Tell me what??? I am sick of people like you. If you can't say anything good, then shut up!
Awesome video! It's now part of our How to Jump compilation at Stomptricks.com
Click here for a definitive page on Jumping with all of the best tutorial videos : stomptricks.com/tricks/jump/
Would edging up as you pop not cause a rotation (back roll) ???
Great question. Yes but this is why you need to use your core to stop the rotation and keep it from cause a back roll rotation. But once you get use to this then you can use this to do back rolls.
@@epickites already getting back rolls. Trying to get past 10m jumps and struggling
@@barrynbreen the technique of jumping is the most important but also you have to remember the conditions play a big role and also what type of kite you are using. You can always email Dimitri Maramenides directly at: dimitri@epickites.com so he can help you privately.
Hello Mr.nikalaitzian, I don't think this NAPAT guy knows how to kite or else we would never mention the "Leash".
