Another point in Brotherhood's favour is that you can relive past memories. In AC II you can't. Once you finish the game that's it. If you want to repeat a memory you must restart the game all over again.

I add a thing that I think you got wrong: Ezio develops a good amount in AC Brotherhood too!
He gets from a deadly, mature assassin (AC II) to an actual Leader, learning to listen his friends and to command. So I think that the better development still is in AC II but Brotherhood isn't bad either.

Lets not forget the real reason we love these games: parkour! Parkour progression is significantly better in AC 2; every new area is different and asks for more creativity from the player.
Not my experience. Its just more tedious.
Brotherhood and Revelations both are significantly better on the gameplay side.

Personally, I really liked having multiple cities in Assassin's Creed II. I remember playing Brotherhood for the first time and how I kept wishing for an option to travel to Firenze and/or Venezia. These two are my favorite Assassin's Creed games, though. Followed by Black Flag.

Black flag is dogshit, 80% just tailing and the world is empty and dead, even the cities which arent even cities more like settlements

I found the story in 2 so interesting.. Im on brotherhood now and I find myself wanting to go back already. Plus I found the combat too easy in brotherhood. Makes sense, being he's a master assassin with years of experience.
I agree, this is my opinion on ezio trilogy combat:
AC2: underpowered
ACB: VERY overpowered
ACR: a bit OP
The combat is way better in brotherhood. The main reason why i think assassin's creed 2 is overrated is because of the shitty combat
@@rover5058 yeah cuz in brotherhood hidden blade counters don't have a 1 of 6 counters working system. And you don't need the kill the armoures 6 fucking times just so they die. Also the throwing knifes are a big bullshit in AC2 since 1 throwing knife can't even kill the OFFICIAL with no armor
The story in ac2 is very very good but its so badly paced it makes me cringe. You can tell straight away in the first 5 mins of brotherhood gameplay that its the newer generation on gaming. Also the fighting in ac 2 was too stiff dude. It took 30 mins to kill 4 guards. Its not demon souls ffs. Ur an assasin and ur supposed to kill smooth and fast. The chain kills system in brotherhood is the reason assassins creed is my favourite series. Edit: its also the reason I stopped playing valhalla and oddysey and bought ezios trilogy to finally have some proper assasin gameplay
@@Omgllovejesusjokes I wouldn’t say it’s badly paced it’s just slow. That said I think the pacing in ac3 is even worse until it really gets the ground running in like sequence 6 but even with ac3 you can just argue the beginning is really long and slow as opposed to bad pacing. I’ll say that brotherhood does have really fluent pacing from beginning to end and that really helps the game a lot
Brotherhood is obviously mechanically the best game.
But I'd add another point for Assassin Tombs to ACII. Romulus Lairs had time limits for full sync which made it less exploration oriented and it totally took out the magical feel of tombs. Moreover it was just brilliant to explore the interior of great buildings like Medici Palazzo and Santa Maria de Fiore.
But then again Brotherhood had Leonardo's War Machines.
And also I'm glad they had a long pace because without it it'd have been hard to cover up so many cities from Renaissance Italy while keeping the timeline historically accurate.
Personally, I've always *_hated_* those optional objectives for full synch.
They're *SUCH A PAIN* and I'm so glad the new games *_finally_* ditched them for good.
Well 6 missions isn't enough to be its own category but I agree those tombs in ac2 were miles better by everything you mentioned. The annoying requirements for completionists like us and the locations themselves
For me the story, the overall feel and the character development and growth in AC2 are such a big deal that I still think it's the best AC game ever even though Brotherhood has a better gameplay overall.
Usually when I decide to play AC2, I also play Brotherhood after.
I do agree that the story is the best in the franchise alongside Revelations, but bad gameplay sometimes puts me off. For example, the bad counter timing (not to mention that the counter simply does not work sometimes) and lack of combos make Ezio seem less proficient. And I don't know about you, but AC 2's parkour felt like it had too many moments where Ezio just wouldn't do what you wanted him to do and much more accidental jumbs that caused instant Desynchronization.

Brotherhood will always be my favorite AC game. It was the first ever AC game i had played and made me fall in love with the series. Even though the franchise has taken a turn since Unity i will still support and play every Ac game to come!

I agree with every choice here, though AC 2 is my favorite due to personal connection and nostalgia. My top three would be AC 2, Black Flag, and Brotherhood
Also- I've spent this past year playing these games for the first time. Odyssey was the first I bought, and then I went back from the beginning in chronological order. I can confidently say the old games are my favorite
I think it's cool that you went back and played the older games, I never had a PS3 or 360, but one of my friends had a PS3 and he's the one who got me into Assassin's Creed. I would play them at his house all the time.
My top 3 are all of the games in the Ezio trilogy in no specific order

I cant compare ezio series as it's part of ezio's life with different situation and time of growing. They all are incomplete without one another.
I think the level design was more interesting in ac2. Especially venizia. I really like navigating all the canals using the gondola (or just swimming). Tuscany had some tall towers to leap and climb with a large countryside area. Whereas Roma in brotherhood was okay but seemed somewhat bland in comparison with not much color pallet variation.
Color pallet? The buildings in AC2 are grey. It has no lightning effect like brotherhood

True. I've replayed both games several times and every time i play brotherhood i miss the ac2 cities so much. There's just something about buildings in Florence that Roma doesn't have. And it's less exciting to run around Roma. Even tho it's my favorite game

I like AC 2 because it had several cities you could go to including your own and it saddens me that rosa wasn’t in brotherhood because her VA died and she was supposed to play a big role in brotherhood too

Have to agree this time. I've played all the AC games (both before Origins and after Syndicate). I was hooked on the series right at the get go (with Altair's story) but the franchise really seemed to peak with Brotherhood. Good vid.

2 was everything bro. AC2 is life. The music....the journey from childbirth of Ezio to his entrance in the Vaticano. Everything was just perfect. Brotherhood was good, but its rather a perfect sequel. But the best game?????Hands down AC2.

I have seen really no one talk about an AC set in Polynesia what would your opinions on that be? and do you think it should be like Rogue where it has one major city, 4 where it has 3 major cities, or Rpg style where it doesn't have many major cities and you decide what is major? Also by Polynesia I mean Oceania in general so Micronesia and Melanesia would also work.

I think parkour in Brotherhood felt so much smoother as well. Often times when I tried to do parkour in AC2 I was always messing up and accidentally jumping to another ledge and the controls for it just felt so outdated. Now granted I haven’t played an AC game in years before I first played AC2, but I feel that shouldn’t excuse the fact that it took me like 15 tries to do the opening race against ezio’s brother and win 💀. Overall parkour in brotherhood just feels so much smoother and flows way better. I’m able to chain parkour movements in brotherhood so much better than AC2. Why is this? I have no clue lmao, but that’s something I noticed with this honestly
I’d like to see a comparison of Revelations and Unity the two with the biggest love connections in their games and probably both done some of the best changes to parkour.

AC2 was my first AC and is by far one of my favorite video games ever but brotherhood is also really amazing, recently started revisiting the ezio trilogy and still lives up for how great they are

I like Assassin's Creed 2 more, my first Assassin's Creed game, with an amazing story and lots of locations to free roam, Brotherhood is also really amazing.
I just played assassins creed for the first time since April 22nd 2018, and I beat it. Apparently I wasn’t that far from the end when I stopped playing it. Now I just need to finish all the little side missions and make sure Rome is all built
Im always conflicted i recently finished ac2. The combat is fine but with the tank enemies there a bit annoying as it block and spam attacks. However the story and music is just mmmmm amazing. Brotherhood the gameplay and open world is fantastic. Im not bothered if something is easy as i just like to have fun.

I had to turn v-sync back on in brotherhood because of missions not working right with uncapped frames so that point was sadly irrelevant for my sake

Yeah I can see why brotherhood won by a land slide but the main thing for me is story like you said so my personal favorite was AC II I honestly felt brotherhood was a little too short then again II was really long it might just be me feeling it was short playing them right after the other in the ezio collection 😂😂 hopefully one day ubisoft returns to this type of AC game. Hopeing for a remake sometime in the future perhaps just updating to current gen AC visuals and overall smoother combat. Maybe combining all the games into one big game although I doubt it. By all in one I don't mean like what they did with the collection but as one solid game that really ties together ezios life entirely. I mean technically speaking the ezio trilogy is all ACII.
For me also assassins creed brotherhood is the best and it is also my first assassins creed game ,the gameplay and open world side missions and things are amazing not to forgetabout music .

Im more or a story driven gamer. For example Kotor has a great story but the gameplay is a little dated. But it is still engaging and peaked my interest constantly.

AC games are better because they are on all platforms. None of my friends can play Ghost because they mainly game on pc/xbox. Ghost can be the best game ever, I am not paying 300 dollars just so I could play one game.

@@amannanda9700 I never played new Ac games, tried Origins but it has major fps drops every 2 minutes. 60fps then down into low 20ies. It is probably my ryzen3 cpu, Ubisoft doesn't care about optimizing new ac games. Strange because I can run far cry 5 in ultra detail in 60fps no problem.

@@amannanda9700 first game is a bit lacking though. It is the same 3 missions repeated 3 times for a total od 9. After doing those missions 6 times I couldn't do them again. It was tedious, only ac game I haven't finished besides Rogue.

My first AC game was AC2 but honestly i agree with ur opinion on Brotherhood being better.
To see the difference, you need to play consecutively, first in the second AC2 and then immediately in brotherhood. I did so and the huge difference between the games immediately became noticeable to me. Brotherhood is two heads higher than AC2
I played these back to back for the first time recently and I just have to give it to Brotherhood. I adore both, my top two AC games, but Brotherhood pips it.
The only 2 thing that sucks about Brotherhood is the slow death ragdoll when you do an assassination on an enemy, and you have zero access to the Templar Lairs now on PC.

The forli missions in AC 2 we're originally DLC. I wish they kept it that way in the Ezio trilogy because they really drag the end game down.

brotherhood added mission constraints to the game that really was my only complaint and only reason I wouldn’t try to get a platinum trophy cause I’d rather play the game in a more sandbox way to assassinate people which obviously you can still do but idk why they try to make you play exactly the way they want tho game was a massive improvement besides
In my opinion, the line where ezio screamed 'Father!' when his family got hanged stabbed me. That felt realistic even to today's standards, since voice acting wouldn't change much unlike graphics.
Brotherhood is so much glitchier than 2 but it does have more things to do but then again 2 has a better story.

TBH, i get why you'd say brotherhood has a better world, but AC2 having multiple cities is so fun, and cmon not every place looks dull. Venice particularly has such beautiful blueish look to it, almost sparkly, and Florence and the countryside part of Tuscany is so vibrant and warm to look at
would say that AC2 just having multiple places and variety of areas to go to makes it better than Brotherhood being stuck to Rome, I remember being quite disappointed as a kid when i discovered you couldnt go to the old areas in BH
Brotherhood has always been my favourite AC game. I will always love II, but Brotherhood does what every sequel should: take what the predecessor did right and improve on it. Gameplay in Brotherhood is amazing, and gameplay has always been more important to me than story. Its been years since I played II's story, so I forgot which was better. But they were both great, so its not a big deal. With the addition of better side quests, chain executions, one of the best AC open worlds, and the assassin recruit system, AC brotherhood improved upon AC II so much in just a year.
This is kinda like asking which of your children you like best. I go with #2 as it's the original Ezio game and has the better story. It's in my top 5 games of all time. But Brotherhood is also great. I do like Rome better than the locales in #2. Either is way better than the current AC games! Worth playing again in 2021!
Would like to see this comparison in the new format eveyrthing you said here is true but I would say that ac2 is still the better game because the gameplay differences are not as big as the story differences and story is the most consequential
As Ezio considered as the greatest assassin and best protagonist of all time throughout the AC series so there should be a remaster to the gameplay of Ezio Trilogy and same request goes for Altair
