@@TSM8088 Hilarious House of Frightenstein was a fave on Saturday mornings in the 80’s on CHCH TV out of Hamilton. So bizarre and hilarious. Billy Van was amazing.
It's too bad that people don't remember the silent film era. Mary Pickford was the first global superstar, and a pioneer of Hollywood. "America's Sweetheart" was born in Toronto!
Kiefer Sutherland was actually born in the UK because his Canadian born parents were working there at the time of his birth so he has dual citizenship .His maternal grandfather was Scottish-born Canadian politician and former Premier of Saskatchewan Tommy Douglas, who is widely credited for bringing universal health care to Canada.
I see someone has already mentioned Lorne Greene, but two big omissions from your list are Christopher Plummer, and Graham Greene. Chief Dan George should be on there too.
For those of us who are "old movie" and TV fans: Glenn Ford, Raymond Burr, Raymond Massey, Hume Cronyn, Yvonne De Carlo, Marie Dressler, Art Linkletter, Deanna Durbin, Walter Pidgeon, Norma Shearer, Fay Wray. "Scotty" (of Star Trek fame), James Doohan, was also Canadian. And where would Hollywood be without two of the most famous studio-builders of all time... Louis B. Meyer (MGM) and Jack L. Warner of Warner Studios.
John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, and others started in a small studio together in Edmonton Alberta producing SCTV. Which went on to become SNL's top competition on Saturday NIght's. In fact for a year and a half they consistently beat them in the Ratings throughout the US. This is why so many of them found Hollywood stardom just from that show.
SCTV was actually started in 1976 and filmed in Toronto at the Global studios. All the original cast came from the cast of Second City in Toronto It didn't start shooting in Edmonton until 1980. Living in Toronto, and being a fan of comedy, I had the pleasure of seeing all of the original comedians live at Second City, and caught others at Yuk Yuk's.
@@singtweetypie True they produced 19 episodes in a broken 1.5 Seasons and then Global Dropped them they were picked back up By an Independent in Edmonton where they did there best work and it was from there they were picked up by NBC and Became SNL's evil twin.
@@captaincanada67 It was a bit frenetic as they ended up back in Toronto later on, at least according to the Wikipedia page on the show. I just know that I saw every SCTV member performing live at The Old Firehall/Second City in Toronto in the late 70's and early 80's - even Gilda Radner. But I had been introduced to all of them for the first time when I went to see Godspell in 1972. Victor Garber, Paul Shaffer, Jayne Eastwood, Dave Thomas, Don Scardino, (30 Rock, Murders in the building) Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Martin Short etc were in the cast and when that finished, they moved over to Second City. Avril Chown, had taken.her friend Paul Shaffer as her piano player for the Godspell audition. Steven Schwartz asked him to replace the piano player he had hired for the auditions, and then asked Paul to be musical director of the show. It was a stroke of luck that he was even there. So many talented performers and comedians were born out of that Godspell cast. godspell1972.wordpress.com/company/
Tangential fun fact: Leslie Nielson's brother, Erik, was the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada for much of the 1980s. Leslie often maintained that Erik was the funny one. Also Pamela Anderson is Canada's Centennial baby--she was the first child born in Canada on Jan 1, 1967.
Pam was born July 1, 1967, she was close but not the first. The first was Kara ffolliott of Regina born at 12:18 am. She was the 15th child in her family and her mother and doctor delayed the birth so she could try to be the first (40 hour labour)
Pamela Anderson is from Vancouver Island and has moved back here after buying her grandparents farm. She’s busy renovating the place and growing organic vegetables. A very environmentally focused woman who loves animals!
@@maryloulauren8108 I remember when Pam was on the Juno Awards when they were in the Maritimes and she brought up her PETA beliefs and was roundly booed. She was taken aback by that, kind of similar to what happened to kd Lang in Alberta. I don't think either fully appreciated how deeply and culturally ingrained hunting and fishing were to those areas, especially to native people. Not sure about Pam but I think kd came to understand the other side of the issue while still maintaining her beliefs, maybe Pam did too because I never really heard of it again.
Great list, some were forgotten. The ones I recall missing are Lorne Greene ( Bonanza ), Raymond Burr ( Perry Mason ), Nathan Fillion ( The Rookie ) Adam Beach ( Windtalkers ) Graham Greene ( Dances With Wolves ). I know there is more, just can’t bring them to mind now.
Most of the world just does not realize how much talent is or comes out of Canada in general, Chief Dan George, Adam Beech, Taantoo Cardinal, Raymond Burr, Lorne Green ( Bonaanza, original Battlestar Galactica ), Howie Mandel was known more for his stand-up he had an animated series too Bobby's World, Grahem Green ( Dances with Wolves) He hosted a true crime series in Canada too. What you will note on most of these list's ...a lack of their Canadian show's they've been in.
Pamela Anderson was born here on Vancouver Island in the little town of Ladysmilth. David Foster was born here in the beautiful city of Victoria Vancouver Island
Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, Martin Short, Rick Morranis, & several others were once part of the same comedy troupe on a sketch show called SCTV (second city tv) together. That’s where that Bob & Doug McKenzie skit originated. Apparently they were told they had to increase the Canadian content on the show & they said “what do you want ? Should we put up a map of Canada, dress in plaid , drink beer & talk like hosers eh?” and the producers said yeah that’ll work.
A great list Tash. One actress, who I absolutely admire for her range, is Tatiana Maslany. She played the lead in Orphan Black (among many of her credits). I can't believe they missed this talented actress.
Canadians have been invading Hollywood since Mary Pickford who was dubbed "America's Sweetheart". King Kong's love interet Fay Wray was also Canadian. The list of Canadian mainstay actors over the years include Ben Blue, Lloyd Bochner, John Colicos, Hume Cronyn, Glenn Ford, Chief Dan George, Graham Greene, Walter Huston, John Ireland, Raymond Massey, Robert Ito and Natasha Henstridge. Perhaps more recognizable would be Lois Maxwell (Miss Moneypenny in 14 James Bond movies), Jay Silverheels (Tonto from the Lone Ranger), Christopher Plummer (Captain Von Trapp in the Sound of Music), Lorne Green (Ben Cartwright of Bonanza), Raymond Burr (Perry Mason), Yvonne De Carlo (Lily Munster), Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong, and Matt Frewer (Max Headroom). But that is just the tip of the iceberg. Did you also know that William Shatner's sidekick on Star Trek, James Doohan who played Scotty, was also Canadian? That accent was manufactured. But James Doohan also has a fascinating backstory in that he stormed Juno Beach at Normandy on D-Day as a Canadian soldier. Here is a video you may want to react to. Spoiler: there is a reason you seldom see his right hand....................ruclips.net/video/_hND78svrVs/видео.html
In fact a lot of the creators of Hollywood came from Montreal Quebec like Mack Sennett. The only reason Hollywood got it was because it was warm all year round compared to Montreal.
Storytime! Yay! Once upon a time there was a boy from Toronto named Keanu Reeves who dreamt of being an NHL goalie but goalie equipment and hockey camp are expensive so he did a little bit of acting on the side for some extra cash because he had taken some drama classes in school, most notably a Coke ad as a marathon cyclist. Time Jump time; In the fall of 1984 young Keanu had turned 20 years old and was pursuing his dream of making it in the NHL, he attended the Windsor Spitfires training camp and was eligible for the 1985 NHL Draft (which was when Mario Lemieux went #1 overall to Pittsburgh) when the location scouts for a hockey movie about a fictional minor league team the Hamilton Mustangs called Youngblood came around and asked if any players had acting experience and wanted to be in a movie. Keanu said he did but there was a catch, the filming would be taking place during both the regular season and playoffs of Windor's season. Our young hero had to decide to quit hockey and withdraw from the NHL Draft and go for the role of Heaver, goalie for the Mustangs...he chose the role and never looked back. Youngblood stars Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze and was filmed in Canada around Southern Ontario. The USA has Slapshot, a parody of hockey, Canada has Youngblood, a more dramatic and realistic view of the sport as it was in the 1980s with a predictable love story in there somewhere. You should do a movie reaction to it.
My mom went to school with Margot Kidder here in Vancouver. And Rae Dawn Chong is Tommy Chong's daughter. Pamela Anderson is from Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. She was discovered during a BC Lions football game on Vancouver when the camera focused on her in the stands. She was then on posters in all the bars as the Labbatt's Blue Girl. Google image has the poster. One name clearly missing in this list though is Yvonne de Carlo, from Vancouver... Lily Munster, as well as Sephora in The Ten Commandments. It's also missing Michael J. Fox.
Tash, speakin' of beautiful actresses, one of me favs is Natasha Henstridge from Springdale, here on Da Rock. You could say she's the epitome of her "Species". We've no shortage of famous talent from our neck of the woods: Gordon Pinsent, Shannon Tweed, Allan Hawco, Mark Critch, Tommy Sexton, Greg Malone, Mary Walsh, Cathy Jones, Robert Joy, Shaun Majumder, Nicole Power, Jennifer Hale and Ruby Holbrook, to name a few.
I just watched a wonderful little film with many of the actors you've named in it - "The Grand Seduction" - loved it! Another actor/musician from the Rock is Alan Doyle whom I just watched in Russell Crowe's "Robin Hood".
@@CharCanuck14 Yep, that film is a gem! I can't believe I didn't mention Alan Doyle, considering one of my fav shows is "Republic of Doyle" and fav singers is Damhnait Doyle.

Rae Dawn Chong is the daughter of Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong fame. She was also featured in one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's well-known films, "Commando".
Pamela Anderson is from Victoria BC and she was discovered when a camera was panning the audience at a football game in Vancouver and focused on her - someone in the film biz saw her and went after her. The rest as they say, is history.
Great selection 😊 I supremely enjoyed watching that! Dan Akroyed and Christopher plummer and Michael Ironside were all in a miniseries/docudrama featuring the Canadian Avro Arrow...bitter-sweet historic account of national security and politics.
Smallville was filmed in BC, Just east of Vancouver. I can not believe Christopher Plummer, and Loren Greene were not on the list. I thought the original movie queen would have made it, Fay Wray, was from my dad home town of Cardston, Alberta. They also only showed shows the were big, or mainstream in the US. Shows from Canada were not included, like Little Mosque on the Prairie, Corner Gas, Degrassi and Reboot were all shows that were big internationally but none of their actors were shown. Also smaller names were not shown either. I went to school with a girl who won a Juno and was in movies like Harry and the Henderson, and she was not on the list. I guess they had to draw a line somewhere. Hollywood actors often joke that there are more Canadians in Hollywood than Americans.
@@pvdogs2 One of my best friends in Oakville was Arlene Duncan, who played Fatima. I've known her since grade 2. We always laughed watching Little Mosque because she doesn't actually have any accent at all. Fun facts: Her first job was at Consumer's Distributing, Donovan Bailey is her brother from her mother's second marriage, and she also sings under the name "Kairene". When I was at University of Guelph, my roommate and I used to take the bus to Hamilton if Arlene was singing at "Galley Pump" on Wentworth.
@@pvdogs2 Yes, she played Velma. She's been in just about everything, from Wayne & Shuster (she was the communications officer "O'Hara" from Dublin in their parody of Star Trek) to The Littlest Hobo.
Another great Canadian actor is Paul Gross. Many Americans might remember him from the show Due South, but there have been quite a few other shows and movies and he has always been a wonderful actor and producer.
Leslie Nielson went to Victoria Highschool in Edmonton. Met him once in the eighties, around the time he was in police story the precursor TV show before Naked gun. Cheers😊
@@TheCanadiangirl4 He used to carry around a joke gas machine to embarrass people, so he didn't have a lot of pretensions. His early upbringing was fairly strict as his father was an old school Mountie.
Tantoo Cardinal played Black Shawl, Kicking Bird's (Graham Greene) wife in Dances With Wolves. Like Adam Beach & Graham Greene, Tantoo has been in so many films & TV programs......too many to mention here.
2:36 Rae Dawn Chong starred in an amazingly well done prehistoric film, "Quest for Fire" (1981). You may not know her, but you might know her dad, Tommy Chong of the 'Check & Chong' movies, "Up in Smoke", "Still Smokin'", and other stoner classics... He's the confused guy who can't hear properly through the door as his buddy Dave is knocking and yelling to identify himself... Tommy: _"Dave? ...Dave's not here, Man!"_
Great show! Thankyou, I’m Canadian and there were a couple of them that I didn’t realize were Canadians. You did miss a number of others but I enjoyed this and your wonderful reactions.
Let's not forget Lorne Greene. Also known as "The Voice Of Doom" during radio broadcasts during WW2. He played Pa Cartwright on "Bonanza" and was also in the original "Battlestar Galactica". Also while not an actor, don't forget Peter Jennings. Also, Gordon Pinsent, and Steve Smith from the "Red Green Show"
@@robertpearson8798 - I remember them too! I think the best Christopher Plummer movie I ever saw was "Remember" about a NAZI hunter. If you haven't seen it it is amazing. What a shocking ending.
To me, Gordon Pinsent as the bullshit artist Hap Shaughnessy was the funniest thing on Red Green. Also Pinsent played Sergeant Scott in The Forest Rangers which was probably the best kid show ever made in Canada. Pinsent had a ton more memorable roles.
If you are familiar with Cheech and Chong, Rae Dawn Chong is Tommy Chong's daughter. You might be familar with Elisha Cuthbert from when she played the daughter of Kiefer Suttherland's character in the TV series '24'. The TV show 'Designated Survivor' that you refered to was filmed mostly in Toronto. Howie Mandel is a great comedian. He is currently a judge on both America's Got Talent and Canada's Got Talent. He also hosted the game show Deal or No Deal and a fun fact Megan Markle was one of the briefcase models on that show for a year. Another wonderful Canadian child actor is Jacob Tremblay. He has been in a lot of movies including Wonder with Julia Robers and Room with Brie Larson. Great, fun video! This list of actors was a really short one. So many more great Canadian actors out there. Neve Campbell and I went to the same high school in Toronto. Drake was also a student there.
Before Marvel, Simu Liu was on a Canadian show called Kim's Convenience. Elisha Cuthbert played Kiefer Sutherland's daughter on 24. Kim Cattrell is UK/Canadian citizen, one of her earliest films was Police Academy, which was filmed in Toronto. They missed a lot of great actors, but not even a shout out for Drake who was in the Degrassi series LOL.
wish they had gone further back - Lorne Greene - was the "voice of doom" on CBC radio, moved to the states and was Ben Cartwright on Bonanza (Michael Landon played "Little Joe" Cartwright. Lorne then went onto Battlestar Galactica -
Hi Tash absolutely loved your reactions priceless! We do have a few greats from Canada so many comedians now looking at the list… Awesome have a super day🤘
Simu Liu is most known for the Marvel superhero movie Shang-Ti and the Ten Rings. Howie Mandel is first and foremost a comedian but he's still best known for the game show Deal or No Deal, America's Got Talent and Canada's Got Talent. Keanu Reeves is not just a great actor he's an amazing and generous human being.
Meg and Jennifer Tilly, Andrea Martin, Nia Vardalos, Raymond Burr, Yvonne DeCarlo, Lorne Greene, Christopher Plummer, Academy Award winner - Anna Paquin, and hundreds more who were missed in this list. But good list, none the less. Thank you.
Tasha also Lorne Greene who is also a Canadian as well & he was on TV-Shows like Bonanza & also he was on the Movie called Battlestar Galactica & also he had his very own Wildlife TVI-Show, which was called, Lorne Greene's New Wilderness (or just New Wilderness) is a Canadian television nature documentary series debuting (14th) September 1982. starring Lorne Greene. The series initially aired on CTV but was syndicated in 80 per cent of the U.S. and (23 Twenty-Three) Foreign Countries. It was a follow-up to an earlier, similar 1970s documentary series entitled The Untamed World (later titled The Untamed Frontier).
There'll often be a lot of Canadians in the casts of US movies and shows since the 80s because so many are filmed in Canada. The leads will often be American, but the supporting cast will often be full of locals. And sometimes Canadians will even get lead roles. I'll sometimes, e.g., recognize someone who was a lead or important supporting actor on a Canadian series do small roles on US productions, like the prolific Don Lake. Terry David Mulligan (a former music video station host, and Chuck E Cheese franchise owner) has probably had a speaking role on every single series filmed in Vancouver since the 80s (X-Files, etc) at some point, usually as a slimeball reporter or PI.
You’ll probably know Howie Mandel from the series that has no home grown talent, America’s Got Talent, we do have some of the best comedians in the world because we don’t take things so seriously as Americans
Interesting that they had Alan Thicke on this list and credit him for HIMYM, but somehow didn’t have Cobie Smulders who was one of the main cast of the show and whose character was Canadian because she herself was. Also as many comments have pointed out there’s way more. This video was like the tip of the iceberg of famous Canadians.
When I was 8 to 10 can't remember when it came out my mom was a hair dresser and one of her clients was a big wig at Warner Brothers. I went to the sneak peak of ace ventura and got to sit right beside Jim Carrey for the movie. It was awesome.
A lot of people mentioning Lorne Greene and Natasha Henstridge. They were actually in the video, but were cut out of the reaction. James Doohan was also in the original video. I have seen the full video, and they are definitely missing Christopher Plummer, Anna Paquin, Michael Ironside, Graham Greene, and more.
A lot of missing examples in this video. More current Comedians like Samantha Bee, Andrea Martin and TV history should include Lorne Greene, Raymond Burr, Gloria Reuben, Megan Follows, Caroline Rhea, AND a whole bunch more award winning Canadians. Recent decades also have many of the Tv or Netflix and movies produced in CANADA with more new names found. ALSO NOTE: Chief Dan George's legacy of film (Outlaw Josey Wales) ,
Tash...Try to control yourself girlfriend! 🙄 Dan Aykroyd was nominated for an Oscar for "Driving Miss Daisy". He was always hilarious as one of the original members of Saturday Night Live which was produced by Lorne Michaels, another Canadian. Many early skits from that show were terrific, like the Coneheads, Lisa and Tod. Jim Carrey's face is made of rubber! One of Keifer Sutherland's early roles was in "Stand by Me", a very good Stephen King flick, worth a watch For me the most egregious omission is Christopher Plummer who most people thought was British. He called "The Sound of Music", "The Sound of Mucous". He thought it was too saccharine. For me one of his best was "Remember" about a NAZI hunter. What a shocking ending! Another must see. There are a few others like Victor Garber (Titanic, 9 to 5, &c.). Also Graham Greene an amazing indigenous actor who appeared in may great films. Lorne Greene, Tommy Chong, &c.
Pretty good list. They should have added Elliot Page (Juno) and Christopher Plummer (best known as portraying Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music). That Pamela Anderson is Canadian seems to shock most foreigners, not sure why. She was discovered at a BC Lions football game in Vancouver. I believe she still lives in BC and currently hosts a BC home renovation show. She seems far more grounded and down to earth than that public persona we were shown in the 1990s.
Lorne Greene who played Adama in the original Battlestar Galactica was Canadian, so was "America's Sweetheart" Mary Pickford. Although he's not Canadian Buster Keaton's last silent film The Railrodder from 1965 was produced by The National Film Board of Canada as a tourist promotion that played in theatres around the world, mostly non-English speaking so they went with silent-era style with a silent-era star, no dialogue means no need for language translations. It's 24 minutes long, Buster plays a British tourist who travels by train across Canada. It's mostly scenic views from the POV of a passenger from Quebec to British Columbia including going through Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver. This could be a good reaction video.
one of the most versatile actors out of Canada was Lorne Greene star of Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica he won many awards in theater and television. I thought the video would have mentioned him you can also add Celine Dion to the list she is staring in an upcoming movie
They missed Barry Pepper, who along with Pam Anderson and Kim Cattrall all graduated high school in the Comox Valley, where I live. Pepper played Sgt. Jackson in Saving Private Ryan and Roger Maris in 61, as well as Bobby Kennedy in the miniseries The Kennedy's.
Kim Victoria Cattrall was born on 21 August 1956[1] in the Mossley Hill area of Liverpool, England. [2] the daughter of secretary Gladys Shane (née Baugh) and construction engineer Dennis Cattrall.[3] She had a brother named Christopher (died 2018).[4][5] When she was three months old, her family immigrated to Canada and settled in Courtenay, British Columbia. At age 11, she returned to Liverpool when her grandmother became sick. She took acting examinations at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art,[6] but returned to Canada after one year and moved to New York City at the age of 16 for her first acting role.
From what I've heard, if you wanted to run into Dan Aykroyd, yer best chance was a liquor store. I lived in Ottawa for a few years and used to work with a feller who bartended on weekends in the Byward Market. He had mixed feelings if Aykroyd stopped in because he was a fascinating conversationalist but got right dark and moody after a few drinks and would refuse to leave at closing time.
Yo Tash, Doc here, Pam Anderson was born was born less than 1/2 an hour up the road from my hometown on Vancouver Island. She's done the Island community proud.
Going thru the time machine to: Donald Sutherland, Raymond Burr, (Perry Mason), Raymond Massey, Yvonne De Carlo (Lily Munster), Arthur Hill, Barbara Parkins (Valley of the Dolls, Peyton Place TV series & my husband's BF dated her in high school), Mary Pickford, Alexis Smith, Glen Ford, Gordon Pinsent, Kier Dullea, Marc Sanger......so many more and Yes all those you mentioned are certainly Canadian...just ask this Canuck!!
Did not see it mentioned, but another one missing is Sarah Chalke. She is from BC and was on 'Scrubs'. She was also a frequent guest with Crag Ferguson.
I'm a month late leaving this comment. No worries! Fun video. I loved the show Travelers, and was so disappointed when it ended. It was filmed in Vancouver BC Canada where I live. If you want to see Jim Carrey in a funny yet a bit more serious/unique movie I recommend "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" Kate Winslet also stars in it. It's a Romance/Sci-fi from 2004 and very good. Fun Fact: In the 70's and early 80's, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short Rick Moranis, and more all stared together on comedy skit show called SCTV in Canada. 🇨🇦
Elisha Cuthbert the Canadian actress was born in Calgary Alberta but was raised in Montreal. Elisha Cuthbert played the daughter of Kiefer Sutherland in the television series 24 and she was also in the Horror Movie 🎥 The Wax Museum with Paris Hilton and Chad Michael Murray, which was filmed on location in Australia I think. Other Canadian actors and actresses Cobie Smulders, Anna Paquin, Joshua Jackson from Dawson's Creek and the Might Duck Movie 🎥 series, Alexander Ludwig from the TV series The Vikings, Victor Garber. Here's an interesting fact? Eric McCormack and Mike Myers went to the same High School in Scarborough a suburb of Toronto.
Over a year later, I'm watching this again! I just wanted to mention something about Pamela Anderson that I found out more recently. Although I've known she's from Ladysmith, British Columbia, she's actually moved back to her hometown. She was doing a home renovation show where she was renovating her mom's house, I think. She's pretty much staying out of the spotlight these days, though.
Fun video, thanks eh! We output some pretty darn good actors...many of them are legends in the comedy world! I don't know how the list could omit Christopher Plummer (RIP) - absolute LEGEND! This list could continue: Joshua Jackson, Elliot Page, Shawn Ashmore, Jay Baruchel, Victor Garber, Raymond Burr, Nathan Fillion, Bruce Greenwood, Tommy Chong, Phil Hartman (RIP), Graham Green...just to name a few more! I just found out that Mantis (Pom Klementieff) from Guardians is from Quebec!! Cheers from Canada.
"Uncle,Buck" is and will be one of my fave movie's classic....So, So funny... I love John Candy's stand up...hilarious funny stuff. Ans he will be missed.
Pamela Anderson is definitely Canadian, born on Vancouver Island. At age 22 she went to a BC lions (Canadian football) game and while wearing a very tight Labatts beer (Canadian beer) T Shirt she was caught on the jumbo screen jumping up and down.....Some Labatts beer executive at the game saw her and she was hired to be their spokesmodel. From there Playboy saw her and well the rest is history!
Dave Foley (SNL, NewsRadio both with the late, great Phil Hartmann) is Canadian and 1/5th of the comedy troupe Kids In The Hall, produced by Canadian Lorne Michaels who also created Saturday Night Live and produced The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Jay Leno up to Jimmy Fallon today. Watch the KITH skit "Dave Foley Talks About Menstruation", any of their skits actually. Haven't seen anyone react to them.

There is another Canadian actor singer Native not on list well known Tom Jackson, North of 60 for one .
Lorne Greene, Graham Greene, Christopher Plummer, and I can't believe that you had two from Smallville and still missed their "Lois Lane" - Erica Durance.
Since you're a big fan of Shatner, I think you should know that his chief engineer, Scott himself James Doohan, also comes from Canada. Fun fact, Doohan also had a finger shot off while fighting in WW2.
I saw Margot Kidder in a film shot in Vancouver in 1968/69 and it isn't even listed on IMDB. I can't remember the name of it. I saw Sandra Oh's "Double Happiness", another little film shot in Vancouver and was really impressed by her acting. I'm glad she succeeded after that. The third film I saw was Keifer Sutherland as a teenager in "Bay Boy" filmed in Maritime Canada. It was also very good. Just saying that sometimes you need to get out and watch something different.
Canadian actor Hume Cronin was born in London Ontario and was married to Jessica Tandy. Paul Schaffer from the David Letterman show is Canadian too. Small ville was filmed in Vancouver BC. Pam Anderson was discovered at a football game and became the spokesmodel for Labatts beer.
people to add to the list Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle, The Rookie) grew up in Edmonton AB Canada, Lorne Greene (Bonanza, 1970's original Battlestar Galacita) Christopher Plummer ( the Sound of Music) and many many more.
Hi Tash. If you have missed it, you have to see Best In Show. Eugene and Catherine are spectacular as the befuddled puppy parents, in one of the greatest comedies of all time.
There are another 199 names missing in this video list, from the 1920's and until current time. Almost every leading film, each year, has a Canadian in the cast lead and production. Since early TV series of the 1950's, such as Munsters or Perry Mason, Canadians are in the lead roles. Game show HOSTS, like Monty Hall, Alex Trebeck, and major NEWS anchors on US TV networks have hired Canadian voices; Morley Safer from CBS (60 Minutes), John Roberts , Keith Morrison (NBC), Ali Velshi (MSNBC) and many more.
WAY too old for you but my two favourites that NEVER get mentioned: June Lockhart: Lost in Space (1966) / Lassie (1954) Lorne Greene: Bonanza (1959) / Battlestar Galactica (1978) So the first American woman in "space" and the quintessential American rancher were both Canadians. Also the Battlestar Galactica reboot (and yes I'm judging you for not watching it - it is not a show to watch 'a few episodes'...start with the miniseries and follow it through girl) was filmed in Vancouver with a decidedly Canadian-heavy cast. It is noteworthy that Keifer Sutherland's grandfather, Tommy Douglas is the father of the Canadian Health Care System, and one of Canada's most respected historic figures. Donald & Keifer did us proud too!
Fun fact: one of our Canadian wireless carriers, Freedom Mobile, uses Will Arnett as their spokesman for both radio and TV commercials. They're usually pretty funny. :) The list misses a lot of peeps. Christopher Plummer, Graham Greene, James "Scotty from Star Trek" Doohan, and the legendary Edmontonian (and I say this with cringe, as a native Calgarian!), Nathan Fillion, who has starred in Firefly, Castle, and The Rookie.
Missy Peregrym, currently starring in the series FBI. Michael Wincott, who played mostly baddies such as in The Crow, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Along Came a Spider. So is his brother, Jeff, but he didn't get many big roles.
My sister lives in Ladysmith British Columbia where Pamela Anderson and her son reside, she sees her at the grocery store and stuff and she is a just a down to earth Canadian girl who lived a crazy rock star life.
I met Jason Priestley as a doorman at a hotel in Victoria, BC, a super nice guy and really proud BC boy! Pamela Anderson is from Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, and I drive past her house every couple of weeks on my way to the airport.
Priestley is a cool guy, a good director and documentarian. He helped the Barenaked Ladies early in their career by directing a music video and recommending them in the US. He also had a horrific near fatal crash while auto racing that required facial reconstruction amongst other issues IIRC
There was also Lorne Greene from Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica the original series and one of the best impressionists ever “ Rich Little” and also Elliot Page😊
I can't believe Christopher Plummer is never on these lists. RIP

Ad to the fact he also never came to live in Canada until the age of 9. Still a true Canuck
I see someone has already mentioned Lorne Greene, but two big omissions from your list are Christopher Plummer, and Graham Greene. Chief Dan George should be on there too.
Yup, three more greats.
Graham Greene, aka the Margo Martindale of native character actors.
Your comment made my heart sore like a hawk.
Another famous director/builder was Mack Sennett known as the King of Comedy
You missed out one famous person who first was in radio and was it “ the Voice of Doom”, Lorne Green.
Bonanza
Yup! Now, let's start on singer/songwriters.
Ruby Keeler (the dancer who was the star of Warner Brothers musicals) was born in Nova Scotia).
Well done with the early years list !
This is why so many of them found Hollywood stardom just from that show.
wow that would have been incredible to see back in the day
@@aussietashreacts It was an absolutely hilarious show Tash!
She was born Canada Day July 1, 1967. at least that's what google says lol
Pam was born July 1, 1967, she was close but not the first. The first was Kara ffolliott of Regina born at 12:18 am. She was the 15th child in her family and her mother and doctor delayed the birth so she could try to be the first (40 hour labour)
She was the first baby born in British Columbia.
Don't forget Nathan Fillion in the TV series "Castle".
Susan Clark was a noted actress: Coogan's Bluff, TV's Webster, Biopics Amelia Earhart, Babe (Didrikson)
Stana Katic too.
Melissa O'Neill ( officer Chen, The Rookie ) was the youngest winner at 17 years of age of Canada's got Talent.
@@CharCanuck14 along with Stana Katic. They also left out Aaron and Shawn Ashmore
Graham Green was one of the most popular minor characters (Marlon) on HBO's The Last Of Us.
As a Canadian we often forget how much acting talent we provide the world, not to mention the singers too
Pamela Anderson was born here on Vancouver Island in the little town of Ladysmilth.
Exactly. IMHO she is one of the best of the best anywhere.
She's from here in Regina ❤
I really enjoyed Orphan Black, too bad about She-Hulk.
She scared the piss out of me when she was Elena
Fox.
That list is missing Christopher Plummer (or Captain von Trapp if, like me, you grew up watching The Sound of Music).
He called that movie "The sound of mucous".
Heather Menzies (Louisa von Trapp) was also Canadian, went on to play Jessica 6 in "Logan's Run", and married Robert Urich.

I loved Little Mosque on the Prairie!!

Thank you.
Tasha also Lorne Greene who is also a Canadian as well & he was on TV-Shows like Bonanza & also he was on the Movie called Battlestar Galactica & also he had his very own Wildlife TVI-Show, which was called,
Lorne Greene's New Wilderness (or just New Wilderness) is a Canadian television nature documentary series debuting (14th) September 1982. starring Lorne Greene.
Pamela Anderson was born on Canada's 100th birthday.

Dan Aykroyd was nominated for an Oscar for "Driving Miss Daisy". He was always hilarious as one of the original members of Saturday Night Live which was produced by Lorne Michaels, another Canadian. One of Keifer Sutherland's early roles was in "Stand by Me", a very good Stephen King flick, worth a watch For me the most egregious omission is Christopher Plummer who most people thought was British.
One of Keifer's first movies 'The Bay Boy' was shot in my hometown.
great movie loved it :)
Hi Tash. If you have missed it, you have to see Best In Show. Eugene and Catherine are spectacular as the befuddled
puppy parents, in one of the greatest comedies of all time.
I enjoy your videos and comments and learning more about my follow Canadian
William Shatnerlived in Dorval, Quebec. He
Lived just down the street from my Uncle. Cool guy. 😊
WAY too old for you but my two favourites that NEVER get mentioned:
June Lockhart: Lost in Space (1966) / Lassie (1954)
Lorne Greene: Bonanza (1959) / Battlestar Galactica (1978)
So the first American woman in "space" and the quintessential American rancher were both Canadians.
James Doohan, who played Scotty in Star Trek is also a Canadian. Born in Vancouver.
Fun fact: one of our Canadian wireless carriers, Freedom Mobile, uses Will Arnett as their spokesman for both radio and TV commercials. They're usually pretty funny. :)
The list misses a lot of peeps. Christopher Plummer, Graham Greene, James "Scotty from Star Trek" Doohan, and the legendary Edmontonian (and I say this with cringe, as a native Calgarian!), Nathan Fillion, who has starred in Firefly, Castle, and The Rookie.
Kim Catrell dates the Prime Ministers dad, pierre, another PM from early 80s..
We have produced some great actors & singers
Elliot Page, Lorne Greene, Tatania Maslany, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Plummer, Sarah Polly, Elias Koteas, Norm MacDonald, etc.
Elliot Page is incredible, should have been on the list
Pamela Anderson is from Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, and I drive past her house every couple of weeks on my way to the airport.
wow that's so cool :)
Priestley is a cool guy, a good director and documentarian. He helped the Barenaked Ladies early in their career by directing a music video and recommending them in the US. He also had a horrific near fatal crash while auto racing that required facial reconstruction amongst other issues IIRC
Rich Little as well.. lol Good Compilation 🇨🇦🐢❤️👏🏻
There was also Lorne Greene from Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica the original series and one of the best impressionists ever “ Rich Little” and also Elliot Page😊
they forgot Elliot Page (Ellen Page before the transition)
Elliot Page is absolutely incredible as an actor :)
