I am not a doctor or professional in the field of addiction. This is just my experience and opinion. Always consult with your doctor before making changes to your medications.
I'm sharing with you my love/hate relationship with Suboxone and how it worked for me. There is a very specific mindset that must be cultivated to make this happen, but it most certainly can and does happen! If you're feeling stuck where you are at and feel like you'll never be able to make it happen, just know that if I'm able to do it, so are you!

I finally got off after 10 plus years. And I’m happy to say it was a lot easier than I thought. But I prepared with an intense taper. But the biggest factor was I just finally decided I’m done. I worked 12 hour days during the withdrawals and it was rough, but I did it. If you have the right mindset and people supporting you, it’s much easier than you think ❤

I'm down to 6mg a day and still feel fine but I've heard so many people say that getting to 2mg or less is when the hell starts but I've also heard so many people say they still went to work every day and made it through it so the withdrawals can't be that bad. Three withdrawals that I used to have made it impossible to do anything at all so if I'm still able to go to work then they must not be as bad.
I think the hardest thing for anyone is just going to ZERO. People think their withdrawals won't be the same as the next person if they were taking less but getting high is getting high regardless of how much your habit is you know? I was on pain killers for a long time. Around 12 years. Vicodin, norcos, percs, oxy, pretty much anything I could get. I knew I had a problem and finally went to an addiction doctor and was prescribed suboxone. My doctor warned me that it’s highly addictive and many people take it the rest of their life, so my goal was to not let that happen. I started at 16 mgs a day and wanted to immediately begin to taper off. After a few months I dropped to 12 mgs. I was at that amount for a few months. Then 8 mgs for a few months. Then 6 mgs for a few months. When I got down to 2 mgs I started using the strips instead of the pill cuz they’re easier to cut in half without turning into powder like the pill. The last dose I was down to was 1/4 mg for a couple weeks before quitting. It took me 2 years but I’ve been off over a month and haven’t had horrible withdrawals. There were some but they were tolerable. I think if you choose to go the suboxone route you need to be determined to lean off and not get stuck on a high dosage for a long time.

I agree! I microdosed subs to help me get off the opiates and I didn’t have barely any wd! The first 3 I started with a quarter strip in the morning and a quarter in the evening. Then I went to just a 1/4 a day for 3 days then an 1/8 for like 2-3 days then nothing. I did have a super hard craving one day so I took another 1/8th but after that I never touched it again! I was so done with having to do a drug to function that I made damn sure I didn’t get addicted to the sub! But it’s all mindset and you gotta want to be sober more than you want to do drugs

Get your vitamin C, Methyl B complex, trace minerals all of them in water and your fat Soluble vitamins EDK stay away from A unless it's cold liver oil without tocopherol in it and ride the lightning. Took me 6 months to get back to normal but that drug depletes every single thing you need to feel ok as a human. I lost my teeth and my sanity eventually from Suboxone. Yeah, I was a long term pain management patient after multiple back surgeries. When I finally went to treatment in 2011 they prescribed 24mg per/day of Suboxone as well to help “treat” my opioid dependence. It took approximately 2 years of slowly tapering on my own terms to finally jump off after reaching 0.5 mg/day.
I’m on day # 20 and finally clean from all prescription drugs, but it has been brutal. All I can say is cannabis has helped me tremendously throughout this whole ordeal despite what most people will think of me. Anyone struggling with opiate addiction, please know you can get off for good even though it might seem impossible today. Just take it one step & day at a time and remember to keep breathing.

Tapered down to 2mg and that is definitely the sweet spot. 16mg down to 2mg is a cakewalk. 2mg to 0mg is absolute hell but is possible. You have to be mentally prepared to just do the damn thing! I was in withdrawals for months. The daytime is ok but when nighttime comes around that's the true test. The insomnia from all the restless legs and sheer "pain" is the worst but is doable. I commented before I was sober. Now I’m 4 weeks off strips. I’m tired! My body feels heavy! I’m sneezing like I’m dying and my nose runs and eyes water. But I did it! It was more awful than I could have imagined. Makes you wish you just got off opiates. But your video helped me get off and my mind is much more peaceful and my energy already at 4 weeks is fighting to come back. Thank you for your video.

I made it 47 days Sub free but had to go back on the Subs on day 48. I could not believe how difficult it is to quit! Now no more cold turkey. It’s just so frustrating. I was taking suboxone for about 7 years and I know the exact feeling you were talking about. I felt like a zombie like I wasn't able to be truly happy about anything. I didn't have emotions and I felt like numb. When I was tapering down a good trick I did was whatever dose I had I would rip it in half and take a dose in the morning and one in the afternoon. So instead of taking 2mg in the morning take 1mg and 1mg later. Do not jump off at anything over 1mg or you will suffer. I jumped off at 1mg and I didn't sleep for a week straight. I then drank a ton of kratom whenever needed and it got me through it. Kratom works for withdrawals 100%. My receptors were able to heal while drinking it too. After 2 weeks I slept all night and rls was so minimal

Also let’s remind people that 95% or more opiate addicts without suboxone/methadone-maintenance, will die from active addiction and relapsing when cold turkey. But I am proud of anyone who can get off everything and stay that way, for me I had up to 3 years twice “cold turkey sober” and was miserable the entire time and would relapse after years of sobriety and nearly die and lose my life. Now I’m on subs for over 2 years my life has never been better! Yes I sometimes feel a little zombie sometimes but for the most part I am the best I have been. I love the idea of being truly sober and able to feel but I have done that so many times and I always end up relapsing from the monkey on my back that never goes away. Subs take that monkey off my back. Idk I just hope everyone chooses the right path for them. Good luck to all.

It’s crazy the huge doses that doctors put people on. 24-32 mgs a day is soooooo excessive and unnecessary and, in my opinion, setting you up for a very difficult road. Maybe 2 strips a day for the first few DAYS just to get comfortable and functional and then straight to one a day. It might be a little tough. It’s enough tho. I genuinely believe you should be at 4 mgs a day after a week or two. Might be a little uncomfortable but it is enough and it’s worth it later. I think it’s also a good idea to get in the habit early on of dosing once a day in the morning as opposed to morning and night. Get your body used to that longer stretch between doses. Likely has a positive impact on the mental side as well. But anyway. Enjoyed the video man. Glad you’re doing better!

I was on subs for 5 years after around 10 year opiate habit. I tapered down to about about 2mg, then started taking kratom. I had withdrawals everyday for 42 days straight but they were manageable. You probably won’t sleep for at least the first two nights maybe more. I got addicted to the kratom for about 2 years (doing about 50 capsules and an extract shot everyday). I was at my rock bottom so was talking to a friend and he gave me an 8mg sub pill broken into 10 pieces. And I took one of the pieces everyday( almost 1mg) with mega dosing lipinsomal vitamin c (3000-5000 mg) every couple hours on top. That’s how my 15 year addiction stopped. Got off pretty much pain free. My emotions are messed up sometimes and still have occasional muscle aches but it’s been over a year now and feel a lot better. You are going to be sick no matter what accutely for about 8 days and you will suffer from some form of anxiety and sleeplessness for 6months to over a year. I think when you're talking about tapering off sub, it's not addiction, it's dependence. You aren't spending substantial money and hours trying to get an illegal substance in order to get the euphoria. You're just chemically dependent like anybody would be after taking something your body is used to. By the time you're talking tapering off suboxone, you're on the right path and it's just a matter of treating your body's symptoms.

That being said; your comment sounds like one that someone who has never experienced a dangerous, active addiction would make. I totally understand what you’re saying about his melancholy demeanor and tone; but I know for myself decades of seemingly hopeless bondage affected my emotions on a very real neurological level. I experience, feel, and respond to emotions differently now. Having experienced life in that bottomless pit, I find it inspiring when someone shares their experience of genuine triumph over something that kills most people who make it their companion. After using the way I did, if I don’t say another word for my entire life me just being alive is miraculous. Anyway, nothing but blessings to you and yours!

    It's been 1 week and I take
2mg twice a day ...I feel ok on that ,but different to the tramadol..I'm actually not as anxious and got a bit of enthusiasm to do more ..The tramadol changed me to someone I didn't recognize any more,I now feel like the old me is starting to come back pre tramadol..

There is absolutely no difference in the way you feel on 2 mg or 16. The only issue is are you through induction which is the process of switching from a real opiate to Suboxone. I was on 5 years before I forced myself to do quit. The issue is tapering the right way. The half-life of Suboxone is 33 hours. That means 33 hours after you took a dose half of it has left your body. Whenever you cut down stay on the lower dose for 7 days. That means you'll totally stabilize and adjust to the lower dose within 2.5 days. And if you cut it in small increments, you can experience the lightest withdrawal ever for those 2.5 days. Let's use an example, say your stable at 2mg. For 7 days you take 1.85mg. The difference is 90% imperceptible. The next cut down 1.65 for 7 days. Then 1.45 for 7. For the last couple weeks you'll get up in the morning and it's hard to take a smaller amount. So what I did was get 10 Tylenol 3s from my dentist and used those for 4 days and just stopped. I'm not certain what I did with the Tylenol 3s is a good idea for everyone. But I was scared to not take that imperceptibly little piece and decided that a final taper with codeine was an acceptable method to mitigate my fears. If anyone ever reads this and has a question I'll answer it

everything you've said is 100% accurate. many will appreciate your video. too many people are still quiet about this when it's gotten worse than ever with the fet. families are still afraid to admit someone has a problem. doctors don't understand this part of the medication nor does it help the addict who wants help but is being treated medically wrong. suboxone 7day taper in rehabs don't work, thats why people relapse when they get out. that's not what suboxone is used for. suboxone is long term maintenance combined with therapy to learn how to be normal again, then start tapering slowly soon after the first high dose. this is where it becomes a problem with the wrong doctor that isn't monitoring it and then this happens like what you went through. 5-10 years of use. god bless, well said.

A few years ago I was on Suboxone. At some point I started abusing other opiates, amphetamines and benzos all while taking the Suboxone regularly. I totally went off the rails. I went cold turkey and something was wrong with me all the way up until I was approaching year number two sober. I had crippling anxiety the whole entire time I was sober and somehow managed to work full-time and fake that everything was great. I couldn't take it anymore and I relapsed. I went on a 2 and 1/2 month run and then hopped back on maintenance. I somehow managed to hold on to my job and my relationships during that short run. It's been about a year of taking my medicine as prescribed and not abusing or taking any other medication. I plan on initiating the slow taper the beginning of this upcoming year but I will never forget that cold turkey withdrawal off all that stuff.

Psycho-somatic symptoms are so real and can make the experience much more difficult. If you have enough medicine to do a really slow taper below 2 mg you’ll be fine. If you go 2 for a minimum of two months, then 1.75 for a minimum of 2 months, then 1.5 for several months!
If you are in a good spot financially, relationally, emotionally it’s not that bad honestly!

I have learnt that 16mg and over of bupe saturates around %95 of mu receptors in the brain. And down to 2mg of Buprenorphine still saturates around %48 of mu opioid receptors.
So 2mg is still only about halfway of the taper, and still needs to be slowed down or withdrawals will come bad. I am down from 16mg to 4mg now, and in no hurry.

I went from 16 down to 8. Year later I started tapering again by subtracting 2mg and each time it was pure Hell. When that smaller dose seemed to satisfy I would wait a few days and cut it again. I got down to 1mg and then I cut up a15 day plan making them smaller and smaller down to nothing. It sucked. As the weeks went on, the symptoms just gradually got worse and worse. I eventually had a little relief from the symptoms and was able to sleep. But I was completely depressed and lethargic and exhausted all the time. Put tremendous strain on my relationship too. Eventually I went back to 1mg cuz I just couldn’t take it no more. And I’m staying at 1mg for a month. And I’m gonna try cutting it to 0.5mg for a month, and see where that takes me. This thing is like a curse. Leveled there for 2 months. Then continued slowly decreasing daily dose. The strips work really well for this because you can cut them up so small. I walked away on 1mg a day. It was absolutely horrendous. My withdrawals sucked just like you’d expect but worse I think. The physical part is the easy part BY FAR! What was hard was the prolonged insomnia anxiety & depression! Also, I developed almost immediately after quitting, premature ejac/(:&$! But all of those horrible battles were WORTH IT! You will get through it. It may be 3-7 days, but 100x easier than doing it at home. Sleeps meds, anxiety meds, meals, and therapy at a minimum. This morning I only took 2 teaspoons and that was it. My doctors gave me clonidine and gabapentin. Something made me feel dizzy and weird tonight. It might’ve been the clonidine. Because I only took gabapentin probably around 4 o’clock. And it’s now 921. What are your thoughts?

two tips to help anyone who finds this, 1. Use suboxone to taper only, use it for like 5 days at a time then deal with withdrawals for a few days then maybe take a small amount again for a day or 2 for a break, but do your best not to take it constantly. This is what I did and yeah it sucked, but it allowed me to partially withdrawal, and then drop into a second less intense withdrawal later instead of a super intense few weeks cold turkey.
    2. A few months or half a year compared to still being on it 20 years from now is worth the trade. We all gotta pay for the sins we commit, this is just one of them. I had to, and what kept me going is thinking about how awesome christmas would be 2 or 3 years from now when I'm not having to get high to be present.
One last thing, this is likely the hardest thing you'll experience in your life. Take pride in that and remember it only gets better from here, a few months is all it takes. A few months of hardship, but in 5 years those few months will be a distant memory

That’s great to hear what were you on before you started subs and how long and how bad were the withdrawals ? I just stared subs after being on methadone 60mg and 1mg of xan for 15 years they gave me 24mg the first day in the ER and then 8mg per day when I had to go back again 2 days later because my Dr couldn’t get me in asap! I just don’t want to be on subs for years No Thanks!! I hope I hear from you 🙏

    • @hawks3109
      @hawks3109 Год назад

@@svtkilr Hey again, sorry for being slow to reply lol. I was on around 160 mg a day. I had been doing it for a little over a year at that level, but doing them for about 5 years at various lower levels than that. I think what worked for me was tapering slowly. Once a week I would drop down as much as I felt comfortable. The great thing about sub is you don't feel horrible instantly. You can kind of fine tune your dose and get to where you're just comfortable enough to be fine. To taper the fastest, you should get to where you're just barely comfortable enough to make it through each day, but not completely comfortable. That said, as long as you're reducing dosages each week by some amount, you're making progress. Everyone has a different timeline. My withdrawals without sub were horrible. Throwing up, constant sneezing, worst exhaustion and body aches. Worse than I can even describe. With the sub, I was able to maintain a slight body ache, sometimes random hot flashes of sweat (for the first week or 2 only), and slight tiredness and low mood as my wd symptoms. Those lasted for the majority of the taper because I was aggressive with it, but I did what I could stand to quit faster. As long as you're lowering your doses you'll eventually quit. You can have a "rest day" where you take a little more ONE DAY a week only if you need relief. I always saved that day as long as I could and used it as motivation to go a little longer, but only 1 day and then back to the lower dosage. If you genuinely can't stand the dosage you dropped to, then go up a little again, but always try to stay below your previous amount. Sub is meant to make it less painful to quit, not painless. Use it as you need to get to that goal.

Bro, that’s why he recommended taper. It’s a genuine concern to view a multi year taper as a long time, but the chance of beating it is much higher. The alternative is to risk going back to a high dose and lengthen the whole process regardless.

I'm starting to get worried. I've been on 8mg for about two years. My providers are always hesitant to start my taper, but I feel like I'm never going to fully realize my potential on suboxone. I got off a 2-year MAT treatment of methadone in 2017, and even after a very slow taper (with hardly any withdrawal, interestingly) the shift was so palpable. It was like remembering who I really was, and while life wasn't perfect, it felt like life. People really pushed suboxone after my relapse in 2020. I didn't want to do any MAT, no methadone, no suboxone. I didn't want to go through it again and potentially have a harder time getting off this time, but everyone told me suboxone withdrawals were way less severe than methadone. Now after being on suboxone for 2 years, I just feel that same neutered, wing-clipped version of being, and I'm hearing that it's actually really tough to come off of suboxone, maybe even worse than methadone because it's more drawn out.

I started suboxone about 4 years ago, at 8mg/day. My phycologist 's suggestion was "when you wake up and forget to take it, that's a sign to taper down"
I followed that advice (normally it was the *first* thing i would do when i woke up in the morning) and for the past year i am down to 2mg/day.
To be honest, so far it was really easy for me but i heard so many horror stories about going less than 2mg that i am scared shitless to try. I think i will do exactly what I did so far. There are days i forget to take my 2, days that i even skip it on purpose but i fear the reduction from this point.
Good luck to all who struggle.

Oh man, an old addict told me to take as small a dose of subs as possible. Just to take the pain away. I was ok on 2 mil . Per day. For two years. I started tapering and went from 2 to 1/8 of a 2 as I would break the tablets. I could not get off 1/8 the withdrawals were so bad. After 3 days the withdrawals would kick in. Finally the day came . When I realized that all the pain was in my mind. After that no more withdrawal symptoms. Suboxone is the purest form of herion . It has to be , to overcome the junk. So tell everyone to tread lightly when they go in to rehab.

Hi. I’m in the process of tapering. Been on for 18 years and I’ve been steady at 2-3 mg for a couple months. I think I’ll be able to taper down more successfully as well. My question to anyone reading this is will Ativan and stuff like that be much help after you jump off? I have scripts for those and am hoping they are going to help me. My so called doctor just up and bailed on all his patients with a two week warning. I thought he was one of the good guys and thought we’d actually become friends over all those years. Always know these doctors don’t care one bit about your interest. For years all he could say is what a miracle drug this is and on my last day he sure had some other things to say about it that I had kinda suspected but didn’t believe. He would chastise me for reading conspiracy theories about sub on the internet and assure me they weren’t true and not to worry. My last appointment with him as his office is being packed up he basically confirmed all those things and told me stuff I hadn’t even heard. Fuck that guy. The two women who work in his office are furious at him. They actually cared about the patients. This is what passes for medical care in the richest empire the world has ever known. Anyway if someone can tell me what kind of help benzo can be at the jump off I’d really appreciate it. Good luck everyone.

Hey there. All I can say is the right pattern of thoughts, a proper paradigm and healthy intake, as in nutritional foods and a lot of water with some added vitamins is your best shot. Unfortunately, there’s no magic bullet. But you got it! Follow advice from those who’ve successfully been off from it for 1 year or more and have improved their life.
