There is absolutely no difference in the way you feel on 2 mg or 16. The only issue is are you through induction which is the process of switching from a real opiate to Suboxone. I was on 5 years before I forced myself to do quit. The issue is tapering the right way. The half-life of Suboxone is 33 hours. That means 33 hours after you took a dose half of it has left your body. Whenever you cut down stay on the lower dose for 7 days. That means you'll totally stabilize and adjust to the lower dose within 2.5 days. And if you cut it in small increments, you can experience the lightest withdrawal ever for those 2.5 days. Let's use an example, say your stable at 2mg. For 7 days you take 1.85mg. The difference is 90% imperceptible. The next cut down 1.65 for 7 days. Then 1.45 for 7. For the last couple weeks you'll get up in the morning and it's hard to take a smaller amount. So what I did was get 10 Tylenol 3s from my dentist and used those for 4 days and just stopped. I'm not certain what I did with the Tylenol 3s is a good idea for everyone. But I was scared to not take that imperceptibly little piece and decided that a final taper with codeine was an acceptable method to mitigate my fears. If anyone ever reads this and has a question I'll answer it

At 13:25 It doesn't actually supress the ability to sneeze, but the sneezing is a usual side effect of the withdrawals. Its not the same as the buprenorphine dehydrating your body, particularly your bowels, and thats why diarrhea is a w/d effect...all of that water/liquid/moisture is now being excruciated by your bowels (the opposite of a lack of water while on opioids and causing constipation).

    • @B_Bodziak

I really appreciate your honesty about your experience without sugarcoating anything and telling it like it was for you. When you went down to a tiny sliver every 3 days, it must sound mind-boggling to someone who hasn't been there. But, what's frightening is that those films are not evenly coated. So, half of one film will not equal the other half of the same film. While it's more visible on some generic brands than others, if you look at a film under a microscope, you can see tiny deposits of the chemicals randomly scattered on a film. On some brands, you can see 2-5 larger white spots of deposits that are in random places on each film. The drug companies really need to make a 0.125mg film BUT, that would screw up their research that a 2mg film is okay to jump from... It's not. From 2mg to zero is going to be painful, if not downright brutal.

@@drugaddictsflyhi There are a LOT of people, and while we often have similar symptoms and side effects, we are all different at the same time. The fact that there are online clinics that offer zoom visits with doctors who treat and prescribe suboxone in 48 states, it's an indication that there are millions and millions of people on MAT programs. Long-term opioid abuse has shown to cause changes, often permanent, in areas of the frontal lobe, and that's why so many relapse without subs. Just go to detox. If you don’t have insurance, do a tiny amount of research on local hospitals, find one that’s used medication, walk into the ER, say you are having thoughts of Suicide. It may be 3-7 days, but 100x easier than doing it at home. Sleeps meds, anxiety meds, meals, and therapy at a minimum. Thank you so much for this advice. I truly appreciate it. I was addicted to heroin and pills for 15 years while working non-stop. I started using because it seemed like the best solution for managing my workload and maintaining my enthusiasm for various activities. Of course, I had some incredibly bad days. Once, I managed to stay clean for three months and felt great. However, I relapsed. Then, I was clean for a year, living an extremely healthy lifestyle, working out, doing gymnastics, and calisthenics. But I fell back into using pills and heroin. While on heroin, I could easily code for 8-12 hours a day and play the piano and bass for another two hours, all before spending time with my family. Sometimes, due to the sheer amount of work, I would code for over 16 hours a day. I didn't know how to stop, and I made the worst decision by turning to methadone. Please, don't go down that path. It ruined me. After seven months of taking 60-90mg of methadone daily and injecting it, I lost all ambition, desire, interests, mood=no mood, and drive to do anything. I couldn't work and kept making excuses for myself-I fried my brain by overworking, burnouts, age. Eventually, I went to a clinic for a health check and blood work. My testosterone levels were the lowest ever recorded at the hospital: 78 ng/dl, which is unheard of for someone my age. I'm 38 and should have levels between 352-459 ng/dl. That explained everything. Even though I had some semblance of a sexual life, it wasn't the same as before methadone. Testosterone is crucial for a man-it's everything: the drive, motivation, confidence, interest, desire, coping with stress, strenght. After realizing it's the methadone, which can save lives but can also ruin them, was destroying me, I decided to take drastic action. I moved to a different country, checked into a hotel, and threw the key out the window. Room service would bring me food, clean up,while I was on balcony staring at Venezia, Italy. I endured 17 days of madness-not as intense as heroin withdrawal, but long-lasting, with body aches, restless legs, diarrhea, and unbearable discomfort being in your body constantly, sneezing like crazy. I couldn't do anything-watching a movie or playing a game was impossible. I could only listen to music, cry, and write to my family. After 18 days of full-on withdrawals, my body craved opioids, methadone so badly. Tonight, I went to get anything just to sleep and skipped smack and choose Suboxone to stop the insomnia and constant irritability that didn't stop at all. I couldn't lay still for even a minute during this time. I took 4mg. People have always recommended Suboxone to me, saying it's better, safer, and healthier than methadone. However, after watching your video, I’ve decided I won’t be taking it again. Thank you so much.

Buprenorphine has a very long half life there should have been no reason to take it multiple times per day, and that's generally not how it's prescribed. All this does is add to the stigma surrounding addiction treatment and invalidates one of the only effective treatments we have for opioid use disorder. Addiction is a chronic illness, and like other chronic illnesses, such a diabetes or hypertension, sometimes requires medication for treatment. You don't hear people with diabetes talking about getting off of insulin. The idea that a person needs to stop taking effective medication that treats their illness is unique to addiction treatment.

You will get addicted without even knowing and the doctor will keep making his commission every month it prescribed to you,I was on it for more than 10 years and thank God I just got out of it by a special treasure from a doctor called Wessman I belive he created it in Israel its called ANR CLINIC, they will clean you up in 6 hrs and you won't have any craving later on you will be free of opios or any narcotics for real.

So heres my take guys. Herion is not easier to get off than suboxone. Most people that say this have never fully detoxed from herion. I think the statement could be true with methadone, and of course it could be true for someone whos taken amounts of suboxone that exceed the amount of herion they were on. Suboxone doesnt have near the life changing effects that herion has and it allows you to get into a place where you are stable and better prepared for withdrawel. The physical and mental withdrawel symptoms do last significantly longer, but are no where near as intense. You'll get there... don't feel bad about being on suboxone... in other words dont let guilt be the driving force in your sobriety. Take it as slowly as you need too if the taper is too intense... and find a dr that wants you to get off of suboxone.

I mean you no insult when I say this, rather to possibly just enlighten you. That being said; your comment sounds like one that someone who has never experienced a dangerous, active addiction would make. I totally understand what you’re saying about his melancholy demeanor and tone; but I know for myself decades of seemingly hopeless bondage affected my emotions on a very real neurological level. I experience, feel, and respond to emotions differently now. Having experienced life in that bottomless pit, I find it inspiring when someone shares their experience of genuine triumph over something that kills most people who make it their companion. After using the way I did, if I don’t say another word for my entire life me just being alive is miraculous. Anyway, nothing but blessings to you and yours!

I have 2 small children. It's so hard! If I can't show up for my kids than what the heck is the point? I need to get off this stuff. I have typical withdrawal symptoms like diarrhea, spine is on fire, muscle and bone ache. Headache. And unfortunately the protocol medicine for withdrawal that they gave me i.e. Muscle relaxer, visteral, and clonidine... This drugs may help in the pain but put me to sleep. Therefore I still can't completely show up for my kids. Any thoughts? I'm desperate to get off of this stuff My recovery is strong My support system is strong I'm a good mom and my life is balanced but this stuff I'm being forced to be off of it because my programs ending and I am also moving to another state in a few weeks we just bought a house in Indiana so we're moving from Florida to Indiana so that's another reason why I'm ready to get off of it. Any thoughts would be helpful as I feel like I'm in the dark but know that I am not alone. Your video was amazing I've watched it a few years ago and I'm watching it again cuz I have been wanting to get off Suboxone for so long. But in those years I was trying to taper off of it we can never actually completely come off because I got pregnant with my son who is now a year old and she would not let me come off of it while I was pregnant and then my cousin died and they (my NP sub prescriber) were worried that the stress would lead to relapse and just there was always a life event...
