I realize the venue is noisy, but even with Air Pod Pros your spoken audio is… at times a bit difficult to discern. There are broadcast, wearable mics that noise reduce much of the surrounding conversation. As to the ‘cue… both places are musts, especially Franklin’s. Aaron has elevated quality BBQ awareness. He is a master.
I love the vinegar bbq sauce too. I am in central Illinois and we had a place called Big Johns BBQ, and they have a home made vinegar bbq sauce that is to die for. I eat it on a sandwich with the pulled pork, and dip the ribs in it, and it is so good I even dip their home made fries in it. That sauce is so good they sell it in big bottles, like half gallon size bottles.
Brisket is my favorite there are lots of good bbq places in Austin. You should try Blood Brothers in Houston. It's Asian fusion BBQ and it's so so good
👍 Another spot in Austin that’s over looked is Stileswitch. When in Houston Blood Brothers, Feges, Truth, Cork Screw, Tejas Chocolate are some good choices for Q.
My favorite place is a dude who works out of an open-air trailer off Brodie in South Austin. He's open when he feels like it or when his day-job schedule allows. I could tell you the name, but then you'll all get in line ahead of me LOL
Everybody's going to tell you there is some other better place, but for the most part it's pretty hard to go wrong. But I did see somebody mentioned the Ironworks, and with the Salt Lick that's a pretty iconic old school place for next time
If you come back to Austin try " The Salt Lick " consistently ranked one of the best if not the best bbq spot in Texas for Decades. It is about 30 minutes outside Austin but gives the absolute Texas experience. Also " Coopers old Time Pit BBQ " in Downtown Austin
Damn I guess we have to back to Austin and try "the salt lick" BBQ !!!! We love Austin so definitely will go there next time and thanks for the suggestion !!!
Salt lick was my least favorite bbq when I went to Texas in Late September/early october.. I tried franklin bbq, valentinas, snows, muellers, kruez, smittys, original blacks and salt lick
@@GaryORiveraSr To each his own. Yelp gave it 4 stars with 4800 reviews. Trip Adviser gave it 4.5 stars with 3400 reviews and has been considered one of the best for over 5 decades. Again, each person has their own favorite and least favorite for their own reasons. I would still recommend them.
@@GaryORiveraSr I agree....Salt Lick is nowhere near the league of Franklin's . They have an open pit that has a major disadvantage...the moisture escapes so the flavor of the smoke and tenderness is sub par. All of the good stuff escapes into the air. Looks impressive but not a good smoking method. It's just a giant grill and not a BBQ pit. That BBQ needs sauce it's so dry. If you have good Q you NEVER need sauce.
What to do with the white bread and condiments: Once you've eaten most of your BBQ, save a little bit to make a sandwich at the end. Put whichever sauce and condiments you want on it. I prefer white onions and fresh jalapenos (if they have them).
The bread in texas is used with the brisket, you add onions and pickles with sauce. Jalapeños if you like heat, i even like potato salad and brisket with pickles . You can also put the pulled pork with the coleslaw and sauce on bread its a Carolinas thing. Liked the Video and love some Texas BBQ
Nice couple! Thanks for the reaction, I liked it! Every state has their own style of bbq. I enjoy Kansas City the most. Definitely have to have that smoke!
Do your self a favor and go to Valentina's in South Austin. It's just as good, if not better. That pulled pork sandwich and/or brisket is a winner. Don't forget to order the queso & chips!!
Bay Area here ....Oakland has Horn BBQ....definitely the best I've had in the bay ..not sure if they have vinegar sauce but the bbq (not quite Franklin or Terry Blacks good IMO) but good ...if you're ever local it's worth looking into ...
@frenchytatum3319 I ate their wayyyy back too...I think it's the nostalgic aspect of it...I've also had some of the country's best in Texas and Midwest...Flints isn't close but I'd smash some if it was back...there was supposed to be a family member starting a popup a few years ago
You need to try Interstellar BBQ, they won #2 on the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ spots in Texas. Goldee's BBQ was #1 and they are right in my backyard here in Ft Worth.
BRUH you gotta ask FOR MOIST BRISKET at any BBQ PLACE! that Terry Blacks Brisket is the LEAN portion which is usually BEST for sandwiches with chopped brisket and also for baked potatoes..... you ate the FATTY AKA moist version of Franklin and why you liked it more....
Assuming that both locations were not sold out of it, you really should have tried the smoked turkey breast. Terry Black's turkey breast is killer and Franklin's is known for it as well.
Texas BBQ is all about the smoke flavor. I did not see you guys commenting about the smoke flavor. I heard about moist tender, juicy falling apart etc. All that is texture not flavor. What sets Franklin apart is their smoke. I don't know what kind of wood they use but it is a game changer. As for sauce, in Texas it is just an afterthought. If your BBQ has to rely on sauce, your BBQ is not that good.
I was born and raised in South Carolina so I know what you mean about the BBQ sauce. If you get a chance try the mustard base BBQ sauce at Maurice's piggy park.
A little over the top playing up to the camera (guy). The smacking of y’all eating I’m the hotel room was a bit much. Tone it down. Enjoy BBQ in Texas.
As a Texan living in the Austin area there is an issue with Franklin's and that's the wait time. It just isn't justified given the fact that the area is saturated with good BBQ places. Franklin's is great BBQ but is not so much better than Terry's or the Smoke Pitt as to warrant waiting in line for 3-4+ hours. That's just my opinion and my perspective may be different if I lived far away from any good BBQ and was in Austin for the sole purpose of getting BBQ.
For us we had no crazy waiting line but if you can tell us where the good BBQ places in Austin besides those two will be awesome !! We loved Austin and would love to go back there and try different BBQ. Thanks !!!
I like Burnt Beans BBQ at 108 S. Austin , Seguin is good. It opens at 11 am Thursday thru Sunday I believe. There's a line sometimes but not nearly as long as Franklin's and it beat Franklin as best BBQ in Texas in 2020 according to Texas Monthly. That's Austin's Dinning / Social event magazine. I say line , but this is all pre-pandemic. If you didn't have to wait in line at Franklin's then they must have made a lot of changes for Covid 19. In addition there is also Show's if you don't restrict yourself to just Austin , it's in Lexington. However its open only on the weekends I think and there is a line. That's because it has placed #1 in Best BBQ for the past two years. Though I've not eaten there personally. I believe currently the rankings list Franklin's at #7 & Burnt Beans at #4 of best BBQ in Texas and again Snow's at #1.

@@TheMochiesAdventure yeah man...the best stuff in outside of Austin..check out the BBQ joints in Caldwell county south of Austin....it's where the craze all began...Franklin's and terry black are for the tourist...blacks is over smoked and if you got a sensitive stomach and guts will sent you into a tail spin at terminal velocity...and Franklin's will work your arteries over with all that tallow..my opinion of course😁
