  • A south African boxer dies after suffering a brain injury in the ring. Simiso Buthelezi was disoriented after scoring a knock down of his opponent. Buthelezi stubbled across the ring and being throwing punches at an invisible opponent. The video was trending as "boxer punches invisible opponent" on Twitter without realizing how serious his condition was. The Simiso Buthelezi video should be a reminder to all of how serious this sport is.

He's celebrating he won, this has been done in every boxing match since the beginning of time. It's not fair to assume he has x-ray vision and could see a brain aneurysm or similar that would lead to the death of his aponent. I'm sure like you he was saddened by the news and has to carry that guilt for the rest of his life. It's easy for us to sit on our a$$ and watch a 1 min video and start judging the guys who risk it all for our entertainment. What does that say about us??

Im an extremely powerful man.. ive always been strong even as a kid.. so when i was around 14 or 15, i got into a fight with a bully that tried picking on me. I remember hitting this kid so hard he ended having a seizure.. that was it from there, I ran to help and the kid was taken to the hospital. Parents never pressed charges on me because they understood their son was a bully. I never told anyone about that. Not family or friends bc i was ashamed.. After that i was always afraid to fight someone bc of fear of hurting someone or getting hurt myself.. All it takes is one good punch in the wrong place to kill a person. Boxing is no different. Too many punched to the head will end ur life like this guy unfortunately.. but at least he died doing something he loved. Rip brother. And to all stay safe and be humble.. i love u all. 🙏🏽

The other opponent is a coward for celebrating like he wasn’t getting his ass kicked.

I wanted to respect his opponent, but he celebrated afterwards like he had conquered him. Very pitiful, very pathetic, just awful all around. May God Rest his soul

He died doing what he loves, and he went out fighting till the end… I wonder how many fighters die from their injuries during fights

When you box for a living, expect head trauma. Poor guy. RIP.

Very Sad 😔 It's pretty INCREDIBLE " to see a fighter in complete control, then after drifting away, end up in a coma, you know the rest.
My deepest condolences 🙏 go out to his family 👪
    Only, God has the answer...
    RIP 🙏

This is scary, it looked like he was winning too. Little did anybody now that at that moment he was slowly dying. RIP champ.🙏

The opponent became suicidal afterwards, likely traumatised from this.
