  • I had the chance to fly an American Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
    This is the takeoff roll from engine startup after pushback from Gate K9 at ORD until takeoff, filmed from Seat 4L, a reverse-facing seat in First Class. It's a much different perspective compared to a typical seat on an airplane. Once I tweak a few things, I'll upload the landing video from our arrival at DFW.
    Spoiler Alert: The real action begins at the 9:55 mark, especially if you love the sounds of a GEnx-1B engine spooling up on the takeoff roll...
    Flight Information
    Carrier: American Airlines
    Flight #: AA2501
    Origin: Chicago O'Hare (ORD)
    Destination: Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)
    Airplane Data
    Aircraft Type: Boeing 787-8
    Entered Service: 28 April 2015
    Ship Registration: N805AN
    Ship Number: 8AF
    Serial Number (MSN): 40623
    Engine Type: General Electric GEnx-1B

      They'll show up as hub-to-hub repositioning flights. In this case, this 787 had flown from Tokyo to Chicago O'Hare the previous day before heading back to DFW, presumably for maintenance. AA usually puts at least one or two widebodies on DFW to O'Hare, Philadelphia and LAX; not sure about Charlotte, since they're relatively new to the 777/787 after being an A330 base for so long.

      Maybe if I hit the lottery, I'll book a flight on an A380. But, I love flying the 787 the most, with the 757 a close second.

      @mtrujillo1973 Not overpowered it's a domestic flight so it's lightly loaded with fuel, producing a high thrust-to-weight ratio

    • @immanuelj8952
      @immanuelj8952 4 года назад

      Turbotroll he’s talking about the 757 which is extremely overpowered but that’s a good thing. The aircraft in this video is a 787 which also has a lot of power to not like the 75.

    They need to bring back 787 on this route!! I have flown this route 100s of times since I have a home in Dallas and Chicago. I have flow, MD-11, DC-10, 777, 767 and 787s on this route and ofcourse the MD-80, 727 , Airbus 321 and 737-8.

    • @CreightonRabs
      @CreightonRabs  2 года назад +1

      I would suspect the 787s are usually used in rotation from DFW to ORD for repositioning on trans-Atlantic flights, though it's been a few years since I've even had the need to fly to Chicago (thankfully). I just happened to time it perfectly on that particular trip to get a 787-8 to ORD and back to DFW. Hands down one of my favorite flights on AA (other than the 777-300 I flew from MIA to LAX a few years ago).

    The cabin is pressurized to an altitude of 6,000 feet compared to the usual 8,000 on other airliners. This helps reduce the effects of jetlag. They can do this because the plane is not conventional aluminum.

    • @GarlandTexasSpotter2024
      @GarlandTexasSpotter2024 Год назад +1

      You’re correct but there are actually some airliners that use the 787s cabin technology, The A350, A330neo, Boeing 777X and A380 all use the same.

      I think they're only on the 787-8s (not sure about the rest of the wide-body fleet), but it was definitely a one of a kind experience for me personally (my pre-pandemic go-to airline was usually Southwest). It also helps for me that I'm a 20 minute straight shot to DFW Airport, but still, it's incredible to experience.

    Basically older 787s are quieter then the newer 787s like this aircraft is 8 years old (now) are so quiet, the newer 787s are not that quiet they’re a little bit loud.
