Some.answers..afterlife is bad because someone is dead. You see the son pass out and dream about a pool with a church group in a pool...all white people..most likely it has to do with him being Mexican/Hispanic struggling to fit in with his Caucasian peers. That is also referenced in the beginning of the video with the kids speaking English and Spanish. They are first generation in the US so are struggling with their identity and trying to fit in with their new country but also trying to keep hold of their language and traditions. The flowers is because the fathers job is selling flowers in the side if the street which is a job that people from a lower socioeconomic class sometimes do. This whole.video kind of has a double meaning. The afterlife of the dead mother and their new life in the United States being a struggle. "Can we work it out" can probably be interpreted as being able to work out being in a new country and making ends meet etc
