Dan Tyminski's got that pure country tenor that I've loved ever since I was a little boy. It's one of the things that's kept me into country and bluegrass all these years -- that vocal style. It just does it for me; what can I say? BTW, he and Jerry Douglass do a killer version of this song on The Transatlantic Sessions, the BBC series that aired in the US on PBS a while back. DVD's are available. I recommend them.

I never really liked country nor bluegrass until I watched the movie, and I got to say, it gave me a whole new understanding of bluegrass music. that whole soundtrack is absolutely one of the best I've ever heard and it definitely opened my ears to all of the beautiful sounds and different music genres out there that still need to be heard.
During an interview on the Actor's Studio, George Clooney said he actually recorded this song in his own voice and thought he did a really good job with it until he asked the techs in the recording booth, who all shook their heads (sorrowfully) and then played this version for him.
He could have done like Tom Cruise did, he took voice lessons and practiced for hours every day for months. He did a version of Dead or Alive that, I though, rivaled the origional!

And the boss , played blue grass guitar , along with another painter , who played fiddle , and mandolin, he was really good , and had played with the Bill Monroe , the god father , of blue grass , at the time , I really liked that simple all acoustic sound , but I was still a deep hard rock / metal head ❤️👍🏻
