The look on his wife's face is even more priceless when she realizes the man she's been criticizing & castigating as a no-goodnik is a talented singer with a hit song in a band, beloved by hundreds, if not thousands, of the local residents.

@Musa MusaLerci "old timey" is a way of expressing something from the generation before or perhaps from two generations ago (20-30 years per 'generation'). The phrase ''ol timey' in English has an element of humor to it since from our modern perspective it seems 'ol timey,' or 'old fashioned.' Another aspect of the humor of the words 'ol timey' is that it would be used by rustic, people from the country as opposed to more sophisticated people from the city. Humor is one of the most difficult things to translate between languages and after its explained, you go, "Oh, I see," but no one who has it explained to them laughs.

I remember growing up seeing Good Will Hunting and O Brother, Where Art Thou? all the time going to video stores, but for some reason we never rented them. Seeing as the internet wasn't really a thing back then, I had no idea what the hell either of these movies were about. Was probably only in the last 1-2 years I saw something that reminded me of them and I decided to watch. Crazy to think out of all the shit we rented we never got these as they are brilliant. I wonder if I'd have appreciated either of them the same way as a child? I don't feel cheated having waited that long however
