People forget that all Carnis can detect and read radio waves. The second that baby monitor came on the elder mimic felt it and knew exactly where its prey was hiding, hence why it stopped searching the house. He doomed himself with the flick of a switch. Had he not turned it on or had left it on the whole time he mightve had a chance
Logically it make sense that he would use it to keep himself distant. It could be that he hadn't been informed or they just purposely neglected to tell him.
That’s what I thought at first as well! At first I just thought after searching the house the Mimic would’ve learned he was in this small bathroom, whether being nothing else being around or hearing him talk maybe, but than I remembered how the Carnis basically communicate through tech
nothing comes over the baby monitor, rlly, so the only plot importance it has is the radio waves. i know people dont like meta reasons for theories but its pretty clear thats what the video is referencing, in my opinion?
To be fair, to the mimic's credit, they are smart enough to wear clothing, and the other kind of mimic evolution allows them to seemingly blend in with people. Remember that an elder mimic evolves from a mimic if it has an abundance of food. If a mimic with a decent amount of food is smart enough to wear clothing and blend into society, an elder mimic is probably capable of the same level of intelligence, if not more.
Well, we know that the bloody skeleton was a prop- a helluva good one might I add. But the spider was real, it was really attacking another spider, and in that way I think the gross factor was amplified.
Also I've said it before and I'll say it again: The thing I really respect about Marcus is just how hard he shills for the analog horror content creators. He is just so dedicated to supporting them and pushing his fans to support them. He pushes their products and their various channels and patreons etc just as hard if not harder than his own sponsors. It shows he really is giving back to those creators and having a genuinely symbiotic relationship with them rather than just mooching off their content like some reaction youtubers. It's that degree of integrity and awareness that I really set as the gold standard for reaction channels.
If it was a normal mimic instead of an elder, the guy’s setup probably would have allowed him to survive. The elder knew every single trick and planned ahead, a normal mimic probably wouldn’t have known how to trick the sensors and whatever
@ManHamLymYeah, cause don't mimics usually go after easy prey? They're not going to stay camped for one person that long, they'll go find someone else to take.
@dontwannagetdoxxed.Normal mimics don’t stay for long as they’d probably look for easier prey, not risking starving for one person behind the protection of a door they can’t bust down.
@@sherrymonnahan9380 Both "usually" and it's been established individual mimic's hunt in different ways, and that our ideas on mimic hunting tactics are very wrong
Since the elder’s teeth are located in their throats, it means that the victim recording was actually being forced into it’s throat, and that the sounds followed by the guy’s scream are his bones being dislocated and broken.
His skeleton looked intact to me, it might've just peeled his flesh off instead. Makes more sense to eat strips of it's prey's meat than to force the whole thing down it's throat.
@ I like to imagine it like a weird version of how a snake eats, instead of ingesting the victim after swallowing it, it regurgitates the non-edible stuff like the bones and clothes.
Turning on the baby monitor was like shining a powerful flashlight onto someone in a pitch black room, it knew where he was, it knew what to do, and it won. Simple.
And considering the state of the body, And the fact that I am an animal nerd, it's safe to say it did a skullcrawler move and put the poor dude in its mouth "chewed" him up, and spit his body back out. flayed and bones. That's probably why the pants weren't torn. His entire torso is bones and tiny flesh remains (I swear if YT bans me for this comment ima be salty ;w;)
@kristopherheiser538 haha, yup, it mostly did all that, if i remember there was this old thing i saw from a book "Taking his arm into it's mouth, apon removing all you could see was bone" it most likely shaved the meat off like a tooth pick
For the end part, Divide and Conquer. I believe that the voice in the background may be the singularities speaking to the mimics, represented as spiders, and the title of it may be trying to convey the message that the singularities want to use the mimics to "take control" over certain areas. Kind of a stretch, I know, but I think its interesting to think about.
You know what's interesting? That in terms of barricading your home or setting up defenses to protect yourself from otherworldy threats like a mimic, they always use methods that would prevent other HUMANS from getting in. Like, 6 screws and a wooden plank across the door is going to do anything against a creature like that. Seems like a lot of characters in analog horror do similar things against super-powered creatures
I was thinking the same. I can’t believe all he had was one board as a barricade for the door and he thought he was gonna be safe…it’s almost like he literally has no clue what a mimic even is or what it does let alone an elder mimic 😂😅
My guess was he was on a budget I think in the beginning he mentioned he didn't get much equipment saying "I can work with this" which usually means you're getting the bare minimum
I’m pretty sure the barricade would probably work against a regular mimic, as that’s what he was preparing for. I don’t believe we’ve ever been told of the mimics having an exponentially stronger physical strength than humans, and it even seemed to be struggling against a regular door for a bit. The elders are the only ones who at least from my memory were explicitly told to be far stronger and tougher than the average person or even mimic.
I think it was all to account for just a middle staged mimic, not a fully grown elder, if that were the test probably would have been stopped before it was even set up or given much more of a budget
I think the "They sent me here to die" and how they didn't expect Farren to be gone 4 months, is the continuation of the "Hole in the Sieve" part of a previous video. Make sure there isn't a hole in your sieve, or something might get through. The 'Sieve' is C.A.R.C.A.S itself. And the 'Hole' is now either 1 person, or a group of people, who are now loyal to the Singularity and are sabotaging C.A.R.C.A.S from the inside.
Yup. My personal theory is that one of the scientists studying the Singularity switched sides after the revelation that they were sapient this entire time. Now he's acting as a mole.
wasn't there an episode where a group of people go enter a building and kind of venerate or something one of the vita carnis? (i dont remember much of the series)
I seen some people i think miss an important thing that was noted at the start of the recording that mimics can learn language. They are able to learn things about humans to lure them around. I seen some people bring up the shoddy door work but i think thats intentional on the part of the creator, as shown the mimic c o u l d of just broken in like it tried on day 16 before getting shot. It was not prevented from breaking in it was literally stalking and learning its preys behaviors and motions. Thats WHY it left him alive for 28 days and purposefully was almost tormenting him, it wanted to learn how humans act under distress to better use that to its advantage in its next hunt.
It was probably related to the fact he kept mentioning other people possibly coming to save him, the mimic only attacked when he gave up on the idea of being rescued. Bro probably was sure he could take the rescue team aswell
@@lordmike9331 exactly. The mimic was listening and fully aware of what he was saying and planning and only made moves when that plan had any divergence. It just shows how terrifying mimics are and especially elder mimics as its heavily implied this is the same mimic that we been following since i think the car episode where those teens investigated a police case that was covering up a mimic attack. This is a place we know all too well as suggested again at the start
@@lordmike9331 Yeah I think he was doomed the minute he said when the rescue team were set to arrive. If it was afraid of the rescue team it might’ve left to avoid being in a house with them. It wasn’t but he (presumably?) doesn’t know that. The second he said 20 days, the EM knew its deadline and if it was afraid it could wrap up its learning session and kill him on let’s say day 19, then leave.
For the record, you're my main source of Analog Horror; I'm too afraid to watch it by myself, and I often miss a majority of them because I don't go searching for them and they go beneath the radar, so sort-of watching them with you through your videos is really great for me. Keep up the great work my dude.
The video isn't that disturbing until he gets eaten. If you know how he actually died it gets disturbing as the elder mimics instead of just like eating you very fast like the regular mimic, The elder probably rips your head off (muscles, organs etc) but probably not bones The reason for that is elder mimics have teeth in their throat instead of having teeth in gums like humans and regular mimics.
This was such a horrifying episode and so well done. Like, you immediately ask yourself wtf you'd do if it went down like that and nobody could do different. He should have had a team. It was hubris and irresponsibly. Especially with the people who let him go get in that situation. Jeeze. What a great episode. It's so amazing how much this show has grown in depth and quality (lemme go post this to the main page too lol. I'm too chicken to watch these alone so it's nice watching them with you)
Notes for the video: *spoilers* 1. It’s SO good to see the elder mimic in action, its size is so daunting and the way it hunts is so interesting 2. I feel like both theories (the elder mimic taking the technology or a saboteur from the company taking all the technolog) are feasible. As we know most if not all of the carnis seem to have some connection or obsession with technology, even crawl will actively grow towards it as seen with the experiments. It’s possible that the elders are intelligent enough to want to hide evidence of their hunting tactics. 3. Your theories and connections to the other videos seem pretty spot on to me Marcus, it’s part of why I love watching your content. You always dive deep and put in the effort to explain things to us, thanks for all the top tier content! 4. Also wanted to point out how he kept picking up motion by the front door, probably the mimics way of trying to convince him it gave up, definitely scary how intelligent they are
there was also hints that the mimic wasn't normal, the MC mentioned the neighborhood was empty, which suggested everyone either left or was eaten, which is a extremely big red flag, and the fact it broke in two days after the guy went in suggested that this creature is not a normal mimic either, mimics take time to stalk their prey and would've poked at any perceived defenses, this thing didn't it just went in, and the baby monitor was the final nail in the coffin, it was also just a terrible idea not to have a way to call for assistance, or at the least, pack a big enough gun, a shotgun might've done actual damage at point blank. At the least you should treat the mimics your trying to observe and hunt as predators as smart or smarter than you and likely already knew you were there, and you should never go in alone.
@@Uniformtree000I doubt a shotgun would penetrate the skin, but the force might be enough to cause internal bleeding and break bones, assuming they aren’t also super durable
@@geraldkenneth119 A shotgun would probably terrify it if it’s only encountered hand guns. It might’ve made it at least give up and flee. If it knows what shotguns are, the EM would probably still be careful.
@@interestingname1857 IIRC there was a part video of scientists studying a meat snake, with it eventually growing larger and its skin turning black, and they found this black skin to be strong enough to that they needed a diamond-tipped drill to break it.
I mentioned this in the OG video, but as soon as he turns the radio on, if you listen closely, you can hear a sort of pulse or heartbeat. Its either the radio locked on to the mimic or the mimic locked onto him is my guess. Could also just be nothing but thought it was worth mentioning.
I somewhat find it hard to think that the singularities would be listening in on this specific event (why would they really tbh since this event to them wouldn't be all too important), but some have proven to have an almost child-like curiosity. So it's not outside the possibility one or two could have been listening in for "fun" or out of curiosity. I can't remember off the top of my head if the singularities can listen in any time anywhere at any given distance, so my thinking is they could possibly use the Carnis potentially as relays to listen in as well over distances. For this, I genuinely think this is just the Elder Mimic locking on to the radio and the pulsing noise is a sort of weird byproduct of the "connection". Or it could be vice versa where the radio is locked in on the Elder Mimic and the pulse is it's "life" or it's frequency or whatever. Either way, there's some sort of connection going on seeing as the Elder immediately found him right after switching on the radio. This does bring up the interesting question though if the pulsing noise acts like a sort of sound que that let's you know a Carnis is nearby in the area via radio and it's frequency.
Marcus, you don't remember me ofc but I've been commenting on a few videos saying your the only person who got me through because my dad was on his deathbed with 4 failed organs but he lived and I feel a special part to you. Thank you
“They are designed to be just like humans, they even hide in furniture!” Oh yeah me and the homies be hidin in furniture all the time, signature human pastime right there
16:50 i’m pretty sure around this point which is pretty sadistic to think about, the mimic was in the in the living room casting its voice to the baby monitor. i feel like that just goes to show that the mimic wasn’t just mocking farren, but was also celebrating its kill due to knowing how free of one it is, i don’t see any other reason as to why it just starts bellowing for no reason other than celebrating a free meal..kinda messed up to think about how these things operate. (p.s. goated content as usual marcus, love your vids
@@meghollows The mimic could've come in to kill him immediately on day 3. I believe it stuck around because the Mimic knew that it would never get such a golden opportunity again to LEARN how its prey (humans) react to things. This dude singlehandedly taught a Mimic human behavioural patterns for 20+ days, and it certainly enjoyed the lesson. Also the other obvious factor is that it just knew it had him. It taunted him by listening in on him through the radio to know when he was considering an escape, just to stop or taunt him in his attempts.
I love how often something horrific will be happening on screen, the audio will be a mix of voliently squelchy death noises, and the subtitles are just like... 🎶Music🎶
36:25 I would say it’s because mimics are like spiders. They’re territorial, they wait. And wait. Spiders can remain dormant for days, either regaining energy, molting or stalking prey. But that’s just a theory.
The part where he opens the door in the elder mimic is literally in front of the door but no noise was made scared the s*** out of me and it was just really scary for some reason
What I’m still questioning is *why* it sat there and waited. It seems almost like it was… enjoying his suffering? It demonstrated that it could quite easily break down the door but for some reason it waited until the exact moment he succumbed to despair to finally come in and kill him. Feels almost like a cat playing with a mouse before killing it, it’s just a pure display of sadism for seemingly no tactical or evolutionary benefit. Do elder mimics perhaps become… bored… by their overabundance of prey? Also for those who said that the baby monitor was what doomed him, narratively they are correct but the monitoring device for the sensors would also be transmitting EM signals along with the sensors themselves. My only assumption was that the sudden activation of a new source tipped the mimic off and it homed in on its location. Or, maybe, it was playing with him the whole time. This thing was stupidly intelligent, completely understanding human speech and knowing where the sensors were, how they functioned, and how to avoid detection. Given how sadistic it seems to be perhaps it enjoyed the challenge of avoiding detection, what was he going to do if it failed, run away? A cat playing with a mouse through and through.
the Mimic most likely left the house when it went by the front door, mimic's dont usually spend more than 1-2 days around the targets area due to the target running out of food or water. So the mimic most likely left, found somone else killed them, returned, saw the door closed and thought that he was still here, getting confirmation later due to seeing the motion sensor by the front door
I think the mimics can store food in their body's like a camel can with its hump and the older they are and less they move the more food they can conserve meaning the mimic wouldn't have to leave. Especially when mimics stalk their prey for days learning their patterns and figuring out when they're the most alone, so they would have to store food in their body some way.
@@ShilliamCit’s a legit point. I was wondering about that 28 day stretch myself. Just seems like a ravenous mimic especially an elder would not stay in one place for a whole month just to eat one human
My Personal theory about the secret spider Video is loosly relaxed to the mimics in a way. Much like this particular elder Mimic, some spiders are known to wait patiently for days or even (in rare instances) weeks to hunt, how this ties to the mimics is pretty simple. The spider that was eating other spiders could possibly mean that this particular elder mimic was maybe hunting and eating other mimics? In the Instructional Video, it says "an overabundance of food" but there were only three (maybe) reported human kills at this location, and I don't know about anyone else, but three doesn't seem like an overabundance to me, so could it be possible that this one was extremely territorial and hunted other mimics that came into it's territory, or Web, and ate those mimics to evolve into an elder? I could be wrong, but it makes sense, no?
That could be why it waited so long for him instead of moving on, since if the mimic hadn't had any humans to eat for an extremely long time, it would wait a while just to eat one
I think you're right and it is indeed the same mimic. I think that is also very cool that we actually see a specific member of the species recurring after it has actually grown!
I did notice that after he turned on the monitor there was a consistent thumping sound that increased in tempo the farther along the video went so it could be the elder mimic communicating or seeking out his location as it gets faster the closer it gets to the bathroom. Also, the secret video, I believe that the skull is a new entity made from the singularity that imbedded itself into a skull.
Most mimics can survive days or weeks just digesting their food, it makes sense this mimic Waited a month for this one guy, it’s easy food and it won’t die without food or water for another long long time, it just ate, it is conserving it’s energy, almost hibernating outside his door, only using some of it’s strength to talk or rip doors open.
I did not expect that ending, but when he brought out the baby monitor I knew he was fucked. Even the tremmings listen to static radio signals. I thought it would alert more mimics- or alert them when the elder screamed.. But then I remembered them mentioning territories. So maybe only one or two mimics stay in different areas- maybe neighborhoods
Yeah my heart dropped too. I'm surprised Marcus didn't pick up on that either. Also you've gotta remember the Vita Carnis seem to be a hivemind so they'd never intrude on each other's territory. They're working to create as wide as a net as possible to complete their goals (be that wipe us out or take over our planet)
It also makes sense from an ecological standpoint; the more a predator eats, the fewer of them can co-exist in the same area without directly competing for resources. Especially considering the fact that this one's explicitly the variant that results from an overabundance of food; that thing's eating _a lot_ . There's not a ton of research on the elders, so we don't know how they interact with normal mimics. For all we know, elders could be actively hostile and normal mimics avoid the area bc it's a bigger, stronger predator. That might be tied to the spider thing (ie. bigger spider hunting smaller ones). Even lions, as powerful as they are, turn tail and leave when they realize they're in a different pride or bachelor's territory unless they're spoiling for a fight. The thing with hiveminds (using bees as the closest IRL example) is that individual members are worth a lot less than the group as a whole. It might be possible for an elder mimic to just merc any normal one that gets in its way or pisses it off, without damaging the carnis' goal overall, bc there's more than enough other members working towards that purpose. It's why individual bees are so ready and willing to sacrifice their own lives at the drop of a hat; there's more than enough other bees to keep the colony going, so sacrificing one individual to potentially stop a threat is worth it. We also don't know if the 'overabundance of food' for the elders comes from simply living in a high-population area where there's lots of chances to hunt, or if it comes from being a more talented hunter. If it's purely based on the amount of food consumed, regardless of how they come by it, I could see mimics potentially stealing food from each other if they live in too close of proximity. What mimics become elders might come down to whoever's the strongest and most aggressive pirate
When it said that the front door sensors were being triggered I thought FOR SURE that other mimics were coming in on this guy. I forgot about territories.
@@Laehada front door sensor is probably the mole in C.A.R.C.A.S coming in to monitor, they are working with singularities to elder mimics due to their stronger connections with singularities probably know who to eat and who to not
Elder Mimic: bro tried to fight me on day 16 of waiting for bro. It's day 28, bro shot me like 10 times so I crashed out and ate bro without making an ASMR
Farren also said in the beginning that the house is on at least one mimic's territory, so that's another piece of evidence that it's the same house and possibly the same mimic.
I, am so mad at myself for not realizing I wasn't subscribed when I been watching so many videos ; ; I love being able to explore these stories with you ! Especially being able to see little details I know I wouldn't catch myself if I was watching alone ! Really love when you go back and explain more details that we know from previous videos, like the detail about the skin layer being protective but the face is different, and how the Mimic is more than likely the same one that turned into a Elder ! Super excited to see more content ! Keep up the amazing work !!
25:43 if you can see the teeth there, the thing is. There at the very back of its throat. Which means it's way bigger, and it's neck is kind of a stock since it's crouching and it's head is probably touching the ceiling-
I can just imagine a scenario where a random mimic somehow managed to live with humans for so long that it developed a normal personality(Most likely shy) and is just found inside other poeples homes just chillin and eventualy getting chased out.
@meghollows But then again, aint this happening in the US?The country where poeple strapped Miniguns to their trucks to hunt down Hogs/Boars?These Mimics have plot armor and are decreasing the americans intelligence.
@@Lazarusgaweseb2438 no, the mimics are extremely stealthy, remember these things rarely make it to elder status because they almost never go on killing spree's. The elder mimic alone we can see being patient enough to spend hours moving to avoid detection if it means he gets a meal. They will hunt for days, hell weeks maybe to guarantee a kill. They are patient enough and nimble enough to pretty much hunt anybody down.
I could also see that happening and then going straight into 'if not friend, why friend-shaped' lol. Especially considering the canon, in-universe reaction to trimmings. I mean, think of how many movies and books exist of 'monster turns good, other humans try to kill monster, monster's human friends defend them'. I could absolutely see someone managing to packbond with one, to the justified horror of everyone around them.
While I think that those doors are just way too shoddy to even consider stopping a mimic I must say that the practical effects are done seriously well. I hope Darian keeps these effects going since it's one of my favorite aspects of Vita Carnis.
Ngl, the only way to survive a mimic would just be going to somewhere remote, with less people, away from a forest or something, or just stay in the ocean…. If the mimics are only in certain continents, I cannot remember if they only live in certain continents or all around the world, if it is in one continent or certain continents, you should probably just move to another continent, or…. Mars
@@SomeoneAviation Mimics are anywhere where there's a big population of humans so they are all around the world. However, staying in areas with fewer people as in population could deter mimics from coming there since they normally hunt in areas with big populations. If being in a less populated area does not deter them then you've doomed yourself as not many people will be around to save you.
That's the point. It could have easily broken it, and the dude knows it. He says as much, it's just....waiting for him. Toying with him. Patiently savoring his fear, until every last ounce of hope slowly faded away.
The dude made some mistakes, all independent of his knowledge about the mimics, but the biggest one was not thinking about an escape route. Worst case scenario you ran away, yet he just turned himself into canned food
Another mistake he made was turning on the baby monitor. Because the Carnis are sensitive to radio waves, the Elder Mimic knew exactly where it’s next meal was.
Just gonna throw this out there that I do fully believe the Elder Mimic is smart enough to take the monitoring equipment. After all, it recognized HOW it was being tracked in the first place and started moving slow enough to not be detected. Also, sightings and documentation iirc is incredibly rare. If an Elder Mimic is smart enough to remove and dispose of monitoring equipment, it would be smart enough to dispose of any cameras or other equipment other victims had when encountering one in the past.
Took me a while to realize that this man was just dead after turning on that baby monitor, if I remember correctly the vita carnis are attracted to radio waves
Iirc a Mimic will wait when its prey is in its most vulnerable position. Which is what happened at the end, the researcher was panicked and hopeless. Its original attacks was still when the researcher had a chance to fight back and had some hope in the situation, making him less vulnerable
That is nightmare for that at the freaking elder man. It was just standing there, staring at him for a moment. I’m surprised he didn’t immediately attack him. It’s probably was wanting to torture him or something.
@@jamesthomas6752 A theory I've seen speculated is that it left him alive to learn his behavior more. That's why it started taunting him and mimicking his voice. It wanted to learn tricks for its future hunts or how humans act under stress. Another one for how sluggish it was moving is that some also think it ate not too long ago and was currently digesting while also targeting an easy meal (since it knew he was trapped). It also waited until he said it was over, and nobody was coming to rescue him. Including hearing him say he'd leave them one more tape. So it very well could have been the mimic taking the stuff since it heard him say that, plus it only killed him after it heard no more food would be showing up. That thing wanted the entire rescue crew
Well actually based on the meat snake dark red skin being very resistant to extreme temperatures. It could be safe to say the elder mimic black skin should be way stronger than this.
@@lackypub8624 Mhmm, we also saw a trimming with it, so all are capable of elder status... oh god imagine an Elder Monolith. So yeah, the only way he would have maybe lived here was if he had a shotgun instead of the pistol and took the same point-blank face shot. Otherwise, we've seen the more genetic material they get through eating a ton, the more unkillable they become
@@ImpassiveSargeI doubt a Shotgun would have helped, it'd do more damage, but Mimics are just Tanky af i'd guess, especially Elder variants. He probably could have ran, but whose to say it wouldnt just catch up and eat him anyway? Afterall we dont know how fast the Elder variants are, and considering how long it waited, it would probably pursuit him and probably track him down
@falco05 Yeah man was cooked, that's why I said maybe. In reality the moment he didn't prepare for all possible scenarios such as the mimic being an elder, escape route, proper barricade, and revealed his location with the baby monitor, he was dead
Eldar mimics can feel radio signals. thats what this is implying. I'm not sure why only one person who's reacted to this figured this out but it's basically a reoccurring trend for this season that we're learning new things about the various creatures, mostly to do with their reaction to signals, an interest throughout the whole species in signals and transmissions. Mimics are the only species we didn't know how or whether or not they had any interest in radio signals but now we know elder mimics do.
The Elder Mimic is just absolutely terrifying. But seeing them for the first time - it does look more human-like, but at the same time it doesn't. It just looked so massive in the bit we saw.
The reason why I especially love this video is how it doesn't do anything *UNTIL* he says he plans on scaring it with blazing guns, then when it tries to rip open the door, he manages to successfully ward it off by shooting it's face. Now, if I were a gambling man, I'd say we were RIGHT ON the money with its weakness being its face (which explains why it's the creepiest looking part of it) it realized the bro was gonna gamble and tried to take action but once he shot it in the face, it realized that it couldn't let him leave with what he learned. You guys know Killer Klowns from outer space and how their weakness was the nose? I think we got something eerily similar with this and I *LOVE* it!
The best kind, imo. Ones with loud sounds are cheap. You never expect silence in jumpscares... And that just adds to the psychological torture that this poor researcher went though. When he opened the door the second time, he knew. He knew he had no chance of surviving his field research. He just kept denying it until the very end. And that's exactly why the mimic waited so long... The best meal is from the waiting game. It probably thought of just going in for the kill several times, but it's experience told him to wait for this fool to slowly lose all hope. The mimic understood just about everything the researcher said, too. You can tell based on its reacting time. The first instance was when the researcher spoke of escaping. The mimic was listening the entire time. It understood what it was saying. To torment him further, it mimicked his own dispair. In the end, it understood that the researcher was finally giving himself up. It only started to break in *after* he made mention that it was the end of the line for him.
My favorite part of all of the voiceacting is probably when the elder does get in and he just goes "let's do this" and Opens fire. RIP researcher, you will be missed
Srsly, hearing the like spiraling or whatever you wanna call it of the researcher was so like, scary but also interesting, and also the way at the end, he sounded like the mimic killing him was a saving grace, which it kinda was... The acting was so good i could eat it
@JustAFantasy2015 Yeah! It's crazy to think that he was fully ready to throw down with an elder mimic and try his best to win, but gets brutally ripped apart
To me, the thing that’s super chilling about the Elder Mimic isn’t just its size, but how it actually would consume its food. Again, the teeth moving to the back of the throat, that would mean it was literally tearing into him, bare hands, probsbky taking time later on to pick off smaller bits. The idea that an apex predator just killing bare hands to something living, but also being meticulous about picking meat off of bones is just jarring
I just realized something, it’s an elder mimic, and they only form when they have a lot of food to eat, and the doctor was apparently in a house with no one else around. My theory is there was neighbors to that house but the mimic massacred them all, which gave him an overwhelming amount of food that he transformed in an elder. But hey it’s just a theory.
From what I heard, there were only three confirmed kills by the mimic so maybe this one is highly territorial and eating other mimics that are coming into the area and that’s how he grew to that size because 3 kills isn’t an over abundance
Normally I'm watching these when writing scripts for my video, but I'm at work today and got a Marcus video while I'm bored? Extremely common Marcus W!

Bro I watched this episode and KNEW you’d love it! I actually am planning on making my own analog horror someday and watching you and other analog analysts has helped me form a world!
I just realized a possible reason as to why the mimic stopped as soon as he turned the monitor on. It was show in earlier episodes that the crawl and the trimmings can both detect and react to radio waves, which, up until he turned his monitor on were only transmitting from one room in the house. It was never really shown if any other members of the vita carnis can also pick this up, but we at least know that the singularities also transmit and communicate with both radio and other waves, and the monoliths can emit an EMP when threatened, so its possible that mimics may also be able to sense radio waves. A note that might support this; when the elder mimic first entered the house, it made its way to only one of the bedrooms, which according to the researcher was where he placed the monitor (though he did forget to mention which bedroom he specifically placed it in). Now, this might just be because an elder mimic hunts enough to know that humans normally sleep at that time (I think the video said it was like 2 am when the mimic started searching), but for that style of monitor to work, its partner had to be left on in the bedroom over the whole 20 days, all the while sending a radio signal from its location. You know what else an elder mimic would likely know? People generally don't leave radio signals playing unless they're still in the area. But when he turned on his monitor, not only is there now two transmission communicating with each other in the house, but the timing would likely tip the mimic off to the fact that somehow it was detected, and the person was definitely still here, broadcasting their location to anything remotely sensitive to radio waves. Also note how it didn't seem to pay any mind to the cameras (and they aren't small or well hidden, so it likely saw them) or even seem concerned about the possibility of other detectors until after the monitor was turned on, at which point it seemed a lot more interested in keeping the researcher stuck in his room while toying with him to figure out just how the detection equipment worked and how many areas were being observed. If they are sensitive to radio waves, it could also explain why elder mimics specifically have never been brought in alive and only one has ever been killed. Most people hunting it would likely rely on radios to stay in communication while tracking it down, as staying close together would practically ensure it escapes. As a result, if it wants to hide, it knows exactly where its pursuers are. If it wants to escape, it goes where the signals aren't. If it wants to kill, either to eat or just to eliminate a threat, it just follows the smallest number of signals until they mess up.
Also, putting this here because it would get lost in the main comment, but I am aware that I'm not the only one in the comments to come to the conclusion that elder mimics are sensitive to radio waves. I just hadn't scrolled down before I typed this comment.
@@alertlucasalexander9994 Find the time to read it, or don't comment this BS. The fact it kept setting off the motion sensor at the front door too. It was messing with him. Just baiting him to leave the bathroom. It knew how it operated. It probably was just staying to learn more about how the tech operates to better hide and use it for its own benefit. It didn't care about the cameras because it already knew what they were and how they operated. It's THAT intelligent. It probably didn't need food or it simply went and ate before returning purely because it was curious and sadistic. Wild
My thoughts on why the motion sensor equipment wasnt found prior to Farren's demise is that because Mimics are intelligent, the Elder Mimic was in hunting mode when Farren turned on the baby monitor. Furthermore, a baby monitor is like a walkie talkie. When Farren turned it on, he spoke right after activating it. The Elder Mimic then realized not only is it being tracked, someone is alive in the house. The Elder Mimic stopped being detected because it deactivated all sensors in the house after realizing Farren is in the house.
Possibly, but the sensors were still active. It kept going to different spots like the front to make him think it gave up so he'd come out. Plus we see it in an awkward position when he first goes out and sees it, the thing DID literally crawl slowly over hours to not trigger them. You are right about the baby monitor though, that's why it took the stuff afterward because he kept talking about leaving the information for C.A.R.C.A.S It's also probably part of the reason why it didn't kill him right away, the thing was learning and also hearing more food (rescue) could be coming. It only went all out once it heard him give up and that nobody was coming
@@ImpassiveSarge the mimic code of reactivate the equipment to give him a false sense of hope like you said is a mimic was expecting food by day 20 the movie could have reasonably thought that if he asked himself before then not only is there a chance help when I arrive for whatever reason but that he also gets out of a free meal. So every so often he reactivates the equipment to give false hope and in return keep the doctor alive and possible extra food.
I don’t think it actually got hurt from the gunshot I think it just backed off to give him the hope of survival trying to make him run out so he can snatch him because when he died he mag dumped and the mimic didn’t care
I think it backed off because he got a good shot and the mimic wasn't expecting it, once it mentally prepared itself for the pain it was over for the guy
I think the first shot landed in the mouth, causing it to back off. The other shots probably hit the outer face, which might be tough for low mm rounds to go through even at point blank
17:15 Im pretty sure that because a mimic's main weakness is fire, incediary bullets, explosions, or any type of extremely hot weapon can deal damage/kill.
I don't remember mimics being weak to fire, the closest thing is meat snakes being killable by burning their membranes, but even then a dark skinned meat snake could resist INSANELY high heat.

My theory for the unlisted video is that the prince is controlling the mind of the people. The "people" being humans in power, sending other people below them, the smaller spiders, I to mimic territory, therefore killing them indirectly. Bro really wants to eat his target right now.
Nahhh
This made me giggle lol
That says the elder mimics aren't looking for food, the way normal mimics are. They simply enjoy toying with their prey.
He learned that after watching his last meal play COD
People forget that all Carnis can detect and read radio waves. The second that baby monitor came on the elder mimic felt it and knew exactly where its prey was hiding, hence why it stopped searching the house. He doomed himself with the flick of a switch. Had he not turned it on or had left it on the whole time he mightve had a chance
It could be the lack of communication to all of the researchers or normal mimics might not have this ability. I think it's the 2nd one.
Logically it make sense that he would use it to keep himself distant. It could be that he hadn't been informed or they just purposely neglected to tell him.
That’s what I thought at first as well! At first I just thought after searching the house the Mimic would’ve learned he was in this small bathroom, whether being nothing else being around or hearing him talk maybe, but than I remembered how the Carnis basically communicate through tech
the mimic would eventually try to get into the bathroom. he was doomed from the start
nothing comes over the baby monitor, rlly, so the only plot importance it has is the radio waves. i know people dont like meta reasons for theories but its pretty clear thats what the video is referencing, in my opinion?

To be fair, to the mimic's credit, they are smart enough to wear clothing, and the other kind of mimic evolution allows them to seemingly blend in with people. Remember that an elder mimic evolves from a mimic if it has an abundance of food. If a mimic with a decent amount of food is smart enough to wear clothing and blend into society, an elder mimic is probably capable of the same level of intelligence, if not more.

If it was a normal mimic instead of an elder, the guy’s setup probably would have allowed him to survive. The elder knew every single trick and planned ahead, a normal mimic probably wouldn’t have known how to trick the sensors and whatever
Given what we know they would have probably left within a few days or less. They rarely bother to stick around
@ManHamLymYeah, cause don't mimics usually go after easy prey? They're not going to stay camped for one person that long, they'll go find someone else to take.
@sherrymonnahan9380 but the mimics do camp tho. In one of the videos it stated mimics are patient predators.

That isnt a bad idea
The reason he was so I’ll prepared for an elder was because he intended to lure a regular.
I think you hit the nail in the head with that take
That is a absolutely awesome on how you thought of that one cause it's really good
You absolutely cooked with this one
I think it just enjoyed the anticipation. It enjoyed making its prey squirm.
@@lordmike9331 exactly. The mimic was listening and fully aware of what he was saying and planning and only made moves when that plan had any divergence. Notes for the video: *spoilers*
1. It’s SO good to see the elder mimic in action, its size is so daunting and the way it hunts is so interesting

I mentioned this in the OG video, but as soon as he turns the radio on, if you listen closely, you can hear a sort of pulse or heartbeat. Its either the radio locked on to the mimic or the mimic locked onto him is my guess. Could also just be nothing but thought it was worth mentioning.
Singularity?
I was thinking this too. The. Beating noise could be interference from the mimic or the singularities communicating and listening in.
@@spookybaby1313exactly.

@@doodlefox.0.5 you may be right specifically because this is an elder mimic but most normal mimics couldn't last a 20-day period of malnourishment.
@EmortalMarcus hope you look over at this and consider, it would mean so much!💙💙

I was literally thinking the same thing! It makes quite a lot of sense when you think about it hahah
It's only three that we for sure know about, but still I wouldn't be surprised if it was also eating other mimics.
That could be why it waited so long for him instead of moving on, since if the mimic hadn't had any humans to eat for an extremely long time, it would wait a while just to eat one

"Lets do this!" As he goes out guns blazing. At least he went out like a champ.
I did notice that after he turned on the monitor there was a consistent thumping sound that increased in tempo the farther along the video went so it could be the elder mimic communicating or seeking out his location as it gets faster the closer it gets to the bathroom.

@@SomeoneAviation Mimics are anywhere where there's a big population of humans so they are all around the world. However, staying in areas with fewer people as in population could deter mimics from coming there since they normally hunt in areas with big populations.

Just gonna throw this out there that I do fully believe the Elder Mimic is smart enough to take the monitoring equipment. After all, it recognized HOW it was being tracked in the first place and started moving slow enough to not be detected. Also, sightings and documentation iirc is incredibly rare.

My theory is there was neighbors to that house but the mimic massacred them all, which gave him an overwhelming amount of food that he transformed in an elder. But hey it’s just a theory.
It's possible that elder mimics were originally mimics that weren't as cautious thus eating more then becoming an elder mimic

It only went all out once it heard him give up and that nobody was coming

it would make sense that the mimic is an elder because he said that the whole neighbor hood was empty and he was the only one there
Probably massacred everyone in the neighborhood, hence why the mimic is an elder one
Marcus: I’m not afraid of anything

Terminal rally, also known as Terminal Lucidity, is the unexpected return of consciousness, mental clarity or memory shortly before death in individuals with severe psychiatric or neurological disorders.
The name could just be a coincidence, as in he just used it for creep factor. But i like to believe its foreshadowing to the end of the video, when he figures out the organization's plan
My theory for the unlisted video is that the prince is controlling the mind of the people. The "people" being humans in power, sending other people below them, the smaller spiders, I to mimic territory, therefore killing them indirectly. The head is using some form of mind control, probably via the singularity. This is just my theory though
