Thank you so much for making an awesome series for us all to enjoy! I'm so happy you enjoyed the stream going over it. Really means a lot coming from you :)
I really liked the bit where the police hung up on the lady. It was such a small thing compared to the rest of the content, but to have your protectors wordlessly abandon you upon hearing of your danger, not even offering a "good luck" or a "run"... something about that chilled me.
I interpret the snatcher's ability to 'steal your voice' and 'wear your skin' is just a hallucination to mimic instead of literal stealing and wearing. The 'wear your skin' line especially since an entity as intelligent as it wouldn't bother stealing a costume if it could just wear human skin.
it probally wears the skin to sell the image of you not hallucinating as the skin stealing part comes after everyone knows that it can make you hallucinate, it could also e to lure out people as they would see someone like a friend outside and no effects of hallucination. This is a smart play by the demon
There's so many little details throughout the series that are just SO good. The fact that the two sketches are actual sketches done by other artists to add to the authenticity of them. The fact that ECPD went out of their way to get tect to speech just to avoid the possibility of the demon taking their voices The sound of galloping as the bright light gets closer in search #6, showing that the demon is running on all fours The constant use of the sheet ghost kid, which is shown to actually be one of the first children snatched and is being used to mock and taunt his father And the soundtrack by LyraHorrors that is perfectly used every time it kicks in.
The wonky text on the "Beware the Smiling Snatcher" poster says "THEY GAVE UP." That means the police gave up trying to capture or kill the monster because it was too crafty. So the Lankmann foundation just put out a PSA to warn people what to do and TRY to survive until the curfew ends.

Marcus, thank you so much for making this video. Dreams of an Insomniac is a very special series for me, as it has led me to meet so many amazing people and inspire me so much. I'm so glad you enjoyed doai as much as me and so many others :) some stuff I do want to point out that may help in theorizing: - the veldigun at the end of Vol 1 is actually named Winfrey, one of Pastra's pre-existing ocs, Patient 66 is the woman from the 911 call. You can hear her voice during the part where Winfrey is revealed - Lankmann isn't actually a veldigun! He is human, but has had his appearance warped from exposure to veldigun (Winfrey probably). From what you can see of his face in vol 1 along with concept art Pastra has released, he seems to have contracted some of the symptoms of making contact with a veldigun - Mortimer Gray, the person who animated the Haunted Halloween PSA and the segment with toon Lankmann in the beginning of vol 1, is an already existing character like Winfrey, so it seems like he'll be important - speaking of Mortimer, the video mentioned that he worked on a cartoon called Candy Mouse, which fits the description of another one of Pastra's characters, another veldigun named Klaus, who ALSO shares a name with Officer Kruger's son. so we'll see where that goes - I don't remember if you noticed in the original stream, but the supposed year of Kruger's death in In Loving Memory is actually 2 years before he was said to have told the police what happened when he ran into the Eastridge Demon, so that confirms that the police knew that Kruger's death was a front - The Eastridge Demon's name is actually Clyde! the credits in vol 1 confirm this - As confirmed by Pastra on their Patreon, Alex actually goes by they/them pronouns (slay) - some other comments probably have pointed this out, but the words onscreen during Lankmann's reveal are instructions for a lobotomy and that's everything I can think of right now. You probably won't see this comment, but I hope this helps someone :D

My take on the text that appear on Lankman's reveal is that they are either a dissection/vivissection of the brain, an open skull lobotomy operation, or plain and simple brain observation(since the procesure stops at the brain and doesn't continue)
This analog horror is banging! 1:11:20 I also looked into the operative technic at the last video, and it seems to describe a surgical operation conducted on the brain. According to the text, the novocaine(common medical anaesthetic in dental procedures) is used to numb any pain caused by the incisions to open the scalp, cand it follows up with the incision measurements. In that case, it's safe to assume that the foundation is conducting brain surgery on the patients. To follow up with the fact that novocaine is being used, that might show connection to the symptom of growing teeth in unusual places. Hope this helps! 👍
I haven't heard anyone mention it but at about 1:02:22 you can hear (and the captions pick up) someone saying "Help me" and it sounds like the woman that Alex was interviewing before. It's probably the monster mimicking her voice, but it's soooooo spooky
Yeah if you look in the credits Winfrey (the creature at the end) has two voice actors listed and the patient has the same voice actor listed. So it is Winfrey using her voice :)

if you think about it, we fear a story about a monster but we dont fear the story of a human sized bunny who has acces to every spot on the world to hide eggs
1:11:35 I think the text is how to conduct a lobotomy or other procedure involving the brain. The coronal suture is a connection tissue in the skull and the glabella is the bone kinda between the eyes and above the nose. Lots of medical diagrams show how surgeons would insert a small pick in the area of the glabella in order to get to the brain. Both the glabella and coronal suture are near something called the nasion (nose related?)
Maybe someone else already commented this but if so, I can't find it so I'll post it again. Maybe the Auditory Hallucinations stated at 51:10 where sounds coming from "hidden" rooms, like Room 66. As the knocking as well as the "voices of people that do not exist" could be from victims inside. The Voice of Doctor Lankmann would probably be the voice of the monster, or the voice talking to the people who misbehave and the Music could be the music that played while the protagonist found the monster in room 66. So, the Foundation is basically using hallucinations as a way to keep their "dark" side hidden from the staff and the outside world, by the means of the goggles. Maybe this means that the Veldiguns were created by the Lankmann Foundation and are used to "create" new Patients for the Asylum to feed the Doctor. As to what the Giant monster is, I'd guess it's a special version of the Vendigun which maybe posseses a way stronger version of the effects that a normal Vendigun is capable of. This could be used to mess up more resilient patients, like the women who was featured in the Interview in order to explain why they are kept in the Asylum. Edit: After rewatching, I just realized that the Veldiguns can steal your voice and they seem to erease their victims from history, which is ties into the Lankmann Foundation telling their workers about "voices of people that do not exist". The People did exist, the foundation just likely fed them to the huge Veldigun or Lankmann himself, causing their voice to be stolen and their existence ereased, causing them to "not exist".
Fun fact: The East Ridge demon's is named Clyde although Pastra has stated that the surrounding lore around the veldagin IA non canon if you using said lore in terms of the analog horror series unless it's stated within the series
Hey @emortalmarcus The medical procedure they were talking about at 1:03:32 may be referring to a lobotomy. The orbit could be referring to the bone (orbital bone) which to my understanding encases or surrounds your eye. Typically lobotomies would be done by inserting a long needle or sharp instrument underneath the eyeball to a depth of about 2-3 cm, once it is inserted doctors would do a sweeping motion to scrape the brain in the attempt to fix what is ailing the patient. I could be wrong on this however but from my psychology class when we talked about lobotomies this should be mostly accurate
Idc what haters say Marcus is my favorite analog horror RUclipsr Edit:yooo thanks I’m never usually this popular also I know who I’m being for Halloween now
Loved the stream excited to rewatch the video. Also, some things I want to mention are that in volume 1, we hear of someone named mortimer, who is another character that pastra made (who i think is a veldigun, but idk). Another thing that's mentioned is a candy mouse, which is another veldigun who is named klaus. These may just be references to previous creations of pastra, but idk. Anywho, signing off now, goodbye.
Man looking at that drawing of the demon, I just thought of that “Don’t ever buy no weed from the gas station” video and that killed all horror from that image
I swear to absolute god that Marcus made a full-dive video on this multiple months ago, then made a stream about fully-diving into it, and now he's making another video where he dives into it fully? I'd love it if Marcus could finally check out one of the numerous new and old, quality analog horror series.
Ok, good. I'm not insane - I'm not complaining, because this is one of my favorite analog horrors, but I thought that everything had already been covered before. Was getting so much deja vu.
Technically, anytime is past 6 pm, because the day before had 6 pm, and the current time is past yesterday’s 6 pm. As a gamer, I see this as an absolute win.
5:51 if you look at the kid's eyes you can see they're kind of deformed which leads me to think that they're the little things that takes their skin and wears it and when they went missing it was the things running away
Yay more DOAI content!! Good video, also the events going on with Alex and the kidnapped lady are around april of 1990 (you can see a date on the phonecall to the police being 6th of April 1990). The when the events take place when Tommy is watching is unknown, but it's mentionned in descriptions that his CRT is considered "old", and on Vol.1's description it states the asylum/foundation is long abandonned and empty. We can assume at least it's way past 1996, perhaps around the beginning of the 2000s. You also made a very good point about the fact people in Family Photo Album say they have not seen anyone living in the Wilson house, about it probably being Lankmann's doing, putting pressure on people to not get involved in veldigun cases, this happens to Alex too where he reports after an incident that people pretend they do not exist. Some people, myself included, thought it was perhaps something the Smiling Snatcher was causing anomalously where it makes people forget but it's incredibly inconsistent (Sammy's dad still remembers his son for example). Oh and the writings on Lankmann's face appearance are exerpts of the process for a lobotomy. As for the "creature" calling, many believe that it may be Winfrey, the very large veldigun in Room 66. I think that's it, awesome video!
Marcus there's a new woodland national park and its the craziest yet, its an actually crazy one that starts off interesting and then it gets way more interesting as it goes it, legit the best video yet.
The music at 43:58 in the LANKMANN FOUNDATION video is kinda like a slowed down version of the song that was used in the Babadook, which has similar features (in my opinion) to the skinsnatcher in DOAI
Had to redo my comment due to an issue Series recommedation: Lacey Games by ghosttundra You may wanna hop on this one Marcus since even The Game Theorists just covered it. Edit: Warning, this series covers very real and very dark topics and a warning should be put at the beginning if you cover it, it is quite the disturbing series.
1:08 EmortalMarcus has mentioned Pastra, I can die happy now 😌 1:08:32 the giant horned creature is called Winfrey, he is a Veldigun like the Smiling Snatcher, and Dr. Lankman himself isn't a Veldigun, but, like Officer Kruger, he came into contact with a Veldigun (most likely Winfrey) 1:09:21 they have Winfrey held captive, if you look closely you can see his hands are chained to the ground 1:13:55 same, bro

I was literally about to comment "omg hey! the creature has very Pastra-esque design elements!" and then I checked the credits AND IT WAS MADE BY PASTRA ! The concept of a mimic is always so unsettling :DD
My favorite thing about part 0 is the charming "high school video editing class project" aspect to it. It's just such a like, nostalgic feel as that dude Sean moves all around as they rant about the newspaper And the newsman just cutting the guy off It's just 😘👌 wonderful small town vibes
Thank you for all the vids Marcus, I know the editing process is long and everything, so thanks for all the uploads. I've looked forward to them every week for years dude. ik you probably won't see this, but thank you for all you do
So i have a theory. I think that the creature calling Tommy into the forest is Alex. Maybe, when Tommy was younger, he and his parent or someone else he knew met up with Alex to give him the Tapes. Alex said that he will most likely not be seen agian so thats why Tommy is so surprised hearing him. Now the creature could be a Veldigan wearing Alex's skin to fool Tommy but I'd like to think its not. If anyone can proof my theory as false then i would appreciate some feedback, until then cya at the next vid. (Also, the cartoon Lankmann looks a bit like the smiling snatcher)
Gotta appreciate pastra keeping the text on screen long enough to read but not too long. It really breaks the immersion having to pause every fecking second
To my dearest [name unclear], I know that you’ve endured much suffering. I have watched you grow and persevere through countless difficulties. Life has presented many challenges for you. You have handled them with remarkable strength, and I could not be prouder. I felt it was necessary to be here to help you navigate these trials. Truth be told, your old man has also faced difficulty processing everything. We spend our days avoiding the deeper issues that are of utmost importance. It’s something you cannot accept, and I could not accept it at first either. Even now, I continue to struggle with it. Every day, I think about what I could have done to improve things, but we push each other forward. Much like in the past, you gave me the strength I needed during a trying time. Even now, you must hold onto that strength to continue moving forward. 28.24
I think ,and this is such a stretch, that someone like alex or the guys who worked at the leinchman foundation will turn into one of these vildgun in some way or become like half human or half vildgun cause it said that you "heard the bellowing of a creature that u recognised ITS call then u go to meet SOMEONE you thought u would never meet again"
34:44 smiling snatcher may have extra abilities like manipulation of memories and such of things of the brain, a few can be like emotions, bodily functions, balance etc.. I believe so because when the neighbors were being questioned, none of their answers were "useful" (edit, in the photo picture the creature may also have picture distortion abilities leading it add or remove certain aspects in it and it may include from the news) (another edit, 35:38 the creature may also have reality distortion or im just tweaking and its just shadow type abilities or its able to move in uncanny ways)
The mother and son’s eyes in the family album are blacked out but the father has bigger eyes which may lead to the father having his eyes opened to the smiling snatcher situation like knowing the truth. or something like that.
I think it may be a reference to the three monkeys. the child has no eyes (see no evil) the father has no mouth (speak no evil) and we can’t really see the mothers ears, but I assume it’s (hear no evil) anyways.

Dr lahnkman is likely inspired by the DC super villain of scarecrow. Pastra loves that villain, and you can see multiple similarities here with that.
Idc what haters say Marcus is my favorite analog horror RUclipsr
Edit:yooo thanks I’m never usually this popular also I know who I’m being for Halloween now
He's my favorite youtuber
True

Where'd you find haters at? So far it's all been pretty chill in my experience
He's very bad wdym
The demon just wants viewers for his video essays! He's not a bad guy, he just got the cheese touch!
He did?
Ok, good. I'm not insane - I'm not complaining, because this is one of my favorite analog horrors, but I thought that everything had already been covered before. Was getting so much deja vu.
@@jakubpluhar4914 is it different? Or maybe it was unfinished before? Idk
i think this is a VOD for the stream you were talking about
Pretty sure that one was members only? I don't know, I remember seeing something like this but members only
Technically, anytime is past 6 pm, because the day before had 6 pm, and the current time is past yesterday’s 6 pm. As a gamer, I see this as an absolute win.
You know it’s gonna be a banger when there’s a suicide hotline link under the video
5:51 if you look at the kid's eyes you can see they're kind of deformed which leads me to think that they're the little things that takes their skin and wears it and when they went missing it was the things running away
Hi, I'm kirby from the disc, and ty so SO much for the beginning, it almost instantly made me cry/pos

@@noahmendoza6915yeah he doesn’t! He likes to rip off your skin and wear it! That’s not even close to biting!
Marcus there's a new woodland national park and its the craziest yet, its an actually crazy one that starts off interesting and then it gets way more interesting as it goes it, legit the best video yet.
Love this video. I almost accidentally called the suicide line trying to like the video. 💀
that voice is becoming for Marcus what the sound from the sinkhole became for Dr. Jeffery Baker
We should normalize wearing skin
Of course a skeleton says this.
(In case this doesn't make sense in the future,@slidersides pfp is a skeleton head.)
My bare flesh gang hates this
Personally I would give the demon a kiss 😋
Almighty buffalo bill 😂
Nah normalise wearing other people’s skin
The music at 43:58 in the LANKMANN FOUNDATION video is kinda like a slowed down version of the song that was used in the Babadook, which has similar features (in my opinion) to the skinsnatcher in DOAI
And if this is important or not I have absolutely no idea, just thought it was a cool little detail
Had to redo my comment due to an issue
Series recommedation: Lacey Games by ghosttundra
You may wanna hop on this one Marcus since even The Game Theorists just covered it.
Edit: Warning, this series covers very real and very dark topics and a warning should be put at the beginning if you cover it, it is quite the disturbing series.
1:08 EmortalMarcus has mentioned Pastra, I can die happy now 😌
1:08:32 the giant horned creature is called Winfrey, he is a Veldigun like the Smiling Snatcher, and Dr. Lankman himself isn't a Veldigun, but, like Officer Kruger, he came into contact with a Veldigun (most likely Winfrey)
1:09:21 they have Winfrey held captive, if you look closely you can see his hands are chained to the ground
1:13:55 same, bro
ive been so excited for you to cover this series!!! its my personal favorite analog horror
Pastra's oc is actually a genuinely cool monster design.

Hey Marcus, I started watching you like almost a week ago, and I been watching you nonstop. You are my new favorite youtuber. Keep up the great work. I love your videos
the only reason they made that monster untouchable was to protect it from me 🙏🙏
Ever since I've first seen marcus's vids I immediately fell in love with them I mean it they are addictive:)

It's just such a like, nostalgic feel as that dude Sean moves all around as they rant about the newspaper
And the newsman just cutting the guy off
It's just 😘👌 wonderful small town vibes
Thank you for all the vids Marcus, I know the editing process is long and everything, so thanks for all the uploads. I've looked forward to them every week for years dude. ik you probably won't see this, but thank you for all you do
11:13 I closed my eyes for one moment and then i get jumpscared by the loud siren 😨
The Veldigun saw you were sleeping and needed to wake you up
So i have a theory.

To my dearest [name unclear],
I know that you’ve endured much suffering.
I think ,and this is such a stretch, that someone like alex or the guys who worked at the leinchman foundation will turn into one of these vildgun in some way or become like half human or half vildgun cause it said that you "heard the bellowing of a creature that u recognised ITS call then u go to meet SOMEONE you thought u would never meet again"
its 2AM and yet this is still scary… I’m not gonna sleep tonight!!!
bro when the "spooky inmate" costume was on screen i got a party city ad lol
Thank you youtube for making me aware of how not alone i am, i definitely thought i was!

I had completely forgotten that pastra made an analog horror! I love his stuff and this analog is one of few good short series

I don't know why, but the way that the cam window changed size each time he said it was a cascading hilarity explosion. Undercuts the spooky vibe a bit, but that is prime editing!
honestly the horned creature must be some form of satan because of the the name of vendigon being called a demon then all the sixes it just fits all the pieces together
