This make's me think of the old Rabbit's Foot Good Luck Charm, where they used to use real rabbit's foot on a keychain. Where it was supposed to mean good luck; as the rabbit was killed to get it's foot, it seem's like it would be more a bad luck trinket instead.
I did a little reading into the symbolism and significance of rabbits in both spirituality and movies, and a lot of sources seem to agree that rabbits commonly represent rebirth and luck specifically. Not only do we learn that Steven and James are in a time loop, but we also learn *how* that loop seems to form. If it really is Steven 1 that kills Steven 2, then it would easily restart the cycle for him like you said. And the idea of the original masked man being James, who became obsessed with ending the loop and failed over and over, can also play into this. Two people, endlessly stuck in an infinite loop, both trying desperately to stop it. The rabbit being dead on the side of the road could've been an omen of bad luck. Jordan Peele actually has a really cool interview that he did with TIME magazine when he made "Us" where he talked about his reasons to use rabbits in the movie! He talks about how something so innocent and harmless, like a rabbit (or in this case, the desire to help your past self), can turn into something violent and scary, like your past self killing you in a fit of fear. The song that plays on the radio when the masked man appears sounds very similar to the chorus of "Run Rabbit Run" by Flanagan and Allen, so I personally thought it was just in reference to that. Again, this is all conjecture, and it very well could be that they didn't think much of it when the very first video was made over 12 years ago now! Dude if James was the masked man, then he really has it the worst, since he basically has to kill his friend's in an endless loop, hopelessly trying to get out of it.
Honestly they all have it the worse Ollie and the unnamed person (presumably a friend named Andrew) have to be endlessly murdered with no hope of surviving and just having to deal with the pain until their last breath James has to relive the trauma from NTR1 after just trying to pay his respects from what happened 3 years ago And Steven has to learn that all of this is a loop and feels guilt and regret for something he never did but would likely be blamed as he was possibly the one who thought the trip was a good idea And Dave… he’s just Dave
The song that was looped (at 9:30 ) is called My First Love by Gillian Welch and was used in the horror movie The Strangers from 2008, its about a newly wed couple getting stalked by a family of masked killers resulting in their later death, while the family gets murdered, this song loops, and then the movie ends with the family (the killers) asking two boys if they could have a pamphlet for Christianity. By playing this song we can understand that the boys were most likely stalked by the masked killer before the killer strikes a few hours later, just like in the strangers, the loop part where the signs are can show that the killer was most likely trying to panic them (by appearing near them when the boy got out of the car) into taking several loops around the farm area, which when they them escape could possibly be an illusion due to the time and panic, which then let the killer strike and then one of the boys died while the rest seemed to escape. Of course my comment is all assumption as I haven't watched the full video yet.

I think in a way, time and the universe is just simply fixing the hole this loop causes by giving the easiest answer. The boys still exist, but they’re dead. Meanwhile, the actual 5 boys are stuck in the loop. We see time moves on outside of the loop. It’s like how your brain will skip over extra words in sentences or fill in gaps in your vision; it’s fixed with the logical conclusion.
Steven 1 survived being killed because Steven 2 pushed him away, which is when he kills his future self. Nothing really suggests Steven 2 survived somehow, well, save them not showing an actual crushed head which is probably more due to a limited budget.
@@Ollybollyk I came to my conclusion because we see Steven 1 supposedly die (in NTR 1), but he actually survived with cuts on his face from having a camera smashed against it. I love how during the time loop, the radio is playing the music from the series "The strangers" where masked people break in and kill the people inside the home, its the same music!

This is one of the only analog horror that's actually triggered my fight or flight, that's a good thing to me, because it actually scares me, like I got chills and covered my eyes
The 4th body could be Dave and still make sense. We aren't told anything about the bodies found, the killer could have disfigured his face and he wasn't able to be ID'd since real Dave is Alive and James has no memory. James suddenly running off with a mask seems to me like maybe now that he's back in the time loop he regained his memories and realized that he originally only escaped because of someone with a mask and he realized it was him.
When I saw this videos title, I thought it was about that one irl case. Where a family of four during a winter night took a wrong turn when driving back home. The wrong turn was one of their biggest mistakes. Unfortunately, the father of that family didn't make it.
I know that one. Is it the one where the father left the vehicle to go and try help and never made it back and a few hours or a day later the family stuck in the car got help?
Theory: The four bodies ARE the four friends, after all, for anyone to see the tapes, time must have progressed. Perhaps James finally managed to kill everyone and break the cycle, either becoming the fourth body or fleeing the scene.
I dont necessarily think that their death would break the loop unless the existence of the loop itself is reliant on them being alive, which it might not be. They could still be trapped, doomed to die over and over again while the outside world finds their bodies.
@@wolvie1618 I don't think you understand how a time loop would work. It's not a localized problem. There would be no way for the tapes to be viewed by outsiders if the timeline was still looping.
Ngl this series rlly reminded me of marble hornets due to quality and the mic being distorted, I also tried to search for the symbols but could not find anything similar to it, and my theory is that (this could be a long shot) but maybe the amount of times they went through that same area (in NRT 4) they were brought back through when they were first being stuck in the loop. But damn this is so incredible! (Also congrats on that sponsorship!)
I'm glad Marcus covered this analog horror, I see what you mean about it being similar to Marble Hornets! (#1 Marble Hornets fan of all time here FIGHT ME)
i remember coming across this video when i was younger. it scared tf out of me but after i realized it was fake it sparked a lifelong love of horror movies and ARGs/analog horror because i keep searching for that rush of fear it made me feel as a kid.
I’m so glad you decided to analyze No Through Road, almost forgot it existed until recently when I watched the first video again. (How old is it, like over 15 years old?) loved the series, reminded me of The Blair Witch Project, Local 58, The Sun Vanished, RADAR, and Hiimmarymary with the found footage style. I’m also trying to get back into analog horror, and it’s really cool how creative people can be. Anyways, good video as always, hope you had fun.
Brilliant! I saw the first vid when it came out and promptly chucked it into my digital/analog horror playlist...After all this time their narrative and talented form hasn't lost so much as a sliver of its edge. They give us the pieces almost straight away, but they also didn't make this at all obvious, and I love it! Thank you for covering this Marcus, you've inspired me to take a look back on this series, to analyze the clues all over again, and to appreciate the mad skills this guys had thoughout this series! I hope they continue making films like this, because these boys have a true talent that many AAA horror movies often lack. Blumhouse had better keep an eye on these guys 😉
18:30 This! I understand wanting to pay respects to you dead friends but with the freaky supernatural loop stuff going on I could NEVER go anywhere near that place again. My self-preservation instincts would never let me risk getting trapped like that again because of the experience of being completely trapped and helpless before it again. Even if I armed myself to the teeth I just wouldn't be able to do it due to the paranormal aspect of it.
CONGRATULATIONS on the sponsor, Marcus. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎉🎉🎉 I remember this series from way back. It scared the beegeezus out of me because I was one of those individuals who legit thought it was real. I thought Slenderman was real, too, so...🤷🏾♀️
3:21, oh, I remember this! This is the tunnel that makes you go through a time loop of sorts, but you'll see real cars go through them, but when you try to follow them to the exit, you're back to where you started
Thinking about it, Im p sure wherever I saw it, it was listed as wickerman or rabbit man or something? Maybe I was watching a reupload, or am misremembering, but it definitely adds to the uncanny feeling
Hey man, just gonna say that Ive been watching ever since the Vita carnis video, You're stuff is incredibly good man!!! Never once regretted becoming a member. Keep up the good work and get those sponsors!!! Might see the movie cuz of this.
Reminds me of that RPG “Cat in the Box”. Vlogger/Yotuber chick goes into a supposedly haunted mansion and gets trapped in a time loop with a past version of herself (technically more than one) trying to kill her and break the loop. One of the endings has her running out over a cliff and falling to her death. The shot showing so many bodies that look exactly like her, many of which that seem to have been there for a long time. Very interesting game.
Is it just me or does anyone else hear the beginning of the song "Run Rabbit" during the sound loops? I legit think that's the reason for the rabbit...
The dead rabbit is actually a symbol in Wiccan belief. It's a symbol of Doom and Time. Whether the director did that intentionally or not, I don't know.
1 absolutely sick sponsor I’m honestly hype for Imaginary 2 so glad you’re covering No Through Road the theme that looped in the tunnel unironically terrified me as a kid
I think the Masked Man being James plays into how there are 4 bodies. James successfully kills all 4 version 1s of him and his friends one day. The loop stops, and James either lives his life in the new timeline or just offs himself.
This is 5 months late, but I was rewatching and decided to clear this out. The fourth body is Dave since he wasn't in the original ntr event, but the masked man killed Dave at the end putting the count at 4.
fun fact: the killer in the n.t.r series is named "no face" and its said to be a surreal and supernatural being. so the no face could most likely be why this loop is a thing.
I think what might have happened to James 2, is that he came up with the idea that killing the masked man could stop everything so he finds the masked man after the other person and Ollie are killed, but before James 1 could be killed, and kills the masked man thanks to a surprise attack, then he obtains the masked man’s clothes, but then I don’t know who encounters Dave at the end, the masked man before he’s killed, or James 2, I would think James 2 cause the 4 corpses cuota has been completed and that allows Dave to get away and not be envolved again
What I think this guy isn’t realizing is that these aren’t vlogs, they’re recovered from the crime scene; The story telling is fairly direct, canonically that last scene with the hat man is probably when this time loop stopped, we may not know but we don’t need to
I remember seeing the first film years ago and the tension building when they got lost and then the relief when they got back on a highway was so real I felt it- plus the acting was so real; it was like how my own friend group would react, trying to joke though the fear- that's def why many thought it could be real footage. it was an amazing short!
That fact that Steven looped himself like that caught me so off guard. This whole loop is kinda flabbergasting. Whoever made this was thinking too hard.
this is one of the best analog horrors ive watched to be honest like its a complete story and everything leads to an interesting plot point and they made the concept of loops wayy scarier
I may be overthinking it and it's just a fun analog horror project they wanted to do but I feel like No Through Road is a representation of how people who suffer from persistent depressive disorder (PDD) feel like they're stuck in a loop; in result of Steven, (who I believe is who is suffering from the symptom), killing himself. Including in some people's eyes, rabbits are symbolism of freedom. In No Through Road 4, the caged rabbit symbolize people held without freedom, another way how people suffering depression feel, trapped. But again I might be overlooking it, idk though
The symbol of the stickman in the circle is a puka. Pukas are mischievous rabbits that either befriend you to enter you or they're out right ready to cut your throat. Their nemesis is a Puka.
why is nobody mentioning how true-to-life the banter and dialogue is in the first part of it all? Feels like actual bros just chilling, and it likely partially is
ive watched this video 3x now. no through road is so so so good the comforting scene while crying on teh dirt road is so wholesome, we all deserve a friend liek that who comforts us.
Just a heads up, Hertfordshire is pronounced "heart-fud-shuh", also a no through road basically means theres no route to the main destination, sometimes its a dead end
for the ending theory: did the time loop get destroyed? did "james" manage to end it, somehow making it so their true final deaths were somewhat different? since dave was not there on that fateful night, him being alive makes sense, and "james" mightve just faded out of existance theory 2 that i dont really believe but eh whatev: maybe james-3 has been there so long he became a bit more insane, to the point where he might have forgotten why he was killing them
This series is the reason we have things like Local58, Mandela Catalogue, and Kane Pixels. This is the OG of found footage/ARG/analog horror/internet horror. Yes I am sure there are others that are older but just imagine seeing this in 2009, browsing old RUclips and having no idea what it was, and no social media to go talk to others about it with. It's so brilliantly done and was really ahead of its time.
Yea I noticed too. I think it’s the same man but moved to diff part of car. Or it’s just a retcon and the other 3 stories are added more to the story and didn’t think about the 2nd person behind the car.
Okay, the way they popped back up at the tunnel when He shuts the lights off…. Straight up chills. I haven’t been scared like that since I watched Lake Mungo
NO WAY I was JUST trying to figure out what the hell this was called. i just remember them being outside the tunnel freaking out and it was so believable it freaked the hell out of me as a teenager.
You're like the fifth person I've seen thank him for taking their suggestion. Maybe humble yourself and realize you're not responsible for someone else's work
this is some of the most realistic acting ive seen in a horror series in a LONG time no wonder people believed this haha edit: well at the start anyway. it's clearly not real after a couple minutes in
I like how the first footage flashes old clips that is in the camera more intense when they were being k*led. Is like representing how their lives is flashing before their eyes.
Gotta say, the fact that no through road continued after the video (with the same name) I never knew it had anything after (definetly scared me as a kid xd)
Marcus the symbol looks like a stick charm, which is the symbol used for the blair witch project. In the blair witch project the symbol *acts as a portal.* And the symbol is shown right after they go teleported back to the tunnel in tape 3...
Thx for the warning at the start marcus i might’ve pooed on myself while watching :( i keep editing but just before 15:24 like when you’re looking at the fields i swear ive seen that exact place in like tennessee or something

@@Puroboi8894It could be a localized thing if the author wanted
"Where this guy is megamind" most legendary sentence ever 🗣🗣🗣
Congrats on the sponsor!! Can’t wait to see the movie, actually looks really good
I’m so glad you decided to analyze No Through Road, almost forgot it existed until recently when I watched the first video again. Anyways, good video as always, hope you had fun.
local 58 mention!!!
You have awesome taste
The way everything just links back to that page is so on point! Because all roads lead here, there's no thru roads here 😊
I remember this series from way back. It scared the beegeezus out of me because I was one of those individuals who legit thought it was real. I thought Slenderman was real, too, so...🤷🏾♀️
Fr
3:21, oh, I remember this! This is the tunnel that makes you go through a time loop of sorts, but you'll see real cars go through them, but when you try to follow them to the exit, you're back to where you started
I never actually thought that you’d cover this series but I’m actually kind of glad you are since I’m scared to watch it alone 😅
your profile picture scared me
@@26deadlyhornets much apologies, i changed it to a taco
@@vananimations-1 you did not have to do that kind sir but thank you
I saw the first video years and years ago, i didn't even know where was more!! Very nostalgic in a weird way, great job with this
Thinking about it, Im p sure wherever I saw it, it was listed as wickerman or rabbit man or something? Maybe I was watching a reupload, or am misremembering, but it definitely adds to the uncanny feeling
Aye, congrats on that big ol' sponsorship! You deserve it Marcus!!
this series was definitely the reason why im in love with analog horror 😭
Hey man, just gonna say that Ive been watching ever since the Vita carnis video, You're stuff is incredibly good man!!! Never once regretted becoming a member.
Keep up the good work and get those sponsors!!! Might see the movie cuz of this.
I also really hope you get 1 Mil subs before the end of this year, it's looking like it tho!!
@@FritzVonMoltke it's not even less than half to 1 mil. 500 thousand subscribers in one year ? If that happens it's gonna be a miracle.
@@tazepatates4805trust bro
@@tazepatates4805 it not even march and the channel has gone up by 200k subs. He may get very close.
I can see why people thought this was real because the acting is so good seriously it’s like watching a AAA movie
@@AnsbachthePurebloodman the way you shortened No Through Road😂
fun fact: the killer in the n.t.r series is named "no face" and its said to be a surreal and supernatural being. so the no face could most likely be why this loop is a thing.
WOOOOOO LIONSGATE!!!! (an old inside joke w a friend lol)
congrats on the sponsor!! this is huge
18:44 They basically say to your face this is about people meeting themselves from the future and past and all this dude noticed was the rabbit part
That last scene, first tape, really sent chills down my spine with the screams and the kid being beat with the camera.
But again I might be overlooking it, idk though
the acting in this was genuinely phenomenal, i could definitely see why people would think its real. those guys did amazing!
Feels like actual bros just chilling, and it likely partially is
W Upload as always (I only have ever seen the first video so I'm glad you're covering the whole series now since it's so Good)
ive watched this video 3x now. no through road is so so so good
the comforting scene while crying on teh dirt road is so wholesome, we all deserve a friend liek that who comforts us.
Just a heads up, Hertfordshire is pronounced "heart-fud-shuh", also a no through road basically means theres no route to the main destination, sometimes its a dead end
This video genuinely traumatized me for quite a bit as a child. Seeing it being covered AND learning of its sequels is awesome now
the music from the first video will haunt me forever now
Do you know what is the song name

Whenever I'm in the mood for analog horror I watch this guy. This is fire bro
Finallyyy thank you so much Marcus for seeing my suggestion
You know its well made when they put some irl footage.
for the ending theory: did the time loop get destroyed? did "james" manage to end it, somehow making it so their true final deaths were somewhat different? since dave was not there on that fateful night, him being alive makes sense, and "james" mightve just faded out of existance
theory 2 that i dont really believe but eh whatev: maybe james-3 has been there so long he became a bit more insane, to the point where he might have forgotten why he was killing them
ive been in love with no through road for at least 4 years now, i love seeing these analysis videos on it pop up every year or so
It’s been a while since I’ve seen this series, but from what I remember, the acting continues to be incredible.
It's so brilliantly done and was really ahead of its time.
no one ever mentioned it but in no through road 1 at 9:34 you can see the second masked man just appear out of thin air
The video: 😱💀
Me listening to him talk about the time travelers while driving: DOCTOR WHO.
yoo W emortal upload (bro the first video made me feel so disturbed 💀)
I had NO idea there was more to the first video. It’s so cool being able to see more in depth into a story I thought was a one off thing.
I love your videos Marcus, you got me back into analog horror and have inspired me to try making my own short analog horror film
Thank you for making this video for my request!
You're like the fifth person I've seen thank him for taking their suggestion. Maybe humble yourself and realize you're not responsible for someone else's work
Yeah, maybe you’re right.
@@HiSpace2013. No I'm just jaded I'm sorry :(
Oh.
this is some of the most realistic acting ive seen in a horror series in a LONG time no wonder people believed this haha
edit: well at the start anyway. it's clearly not real after a couple minutes in
I like how the first footage flashes old clips that is in the camera more intense when they were being k*led. Is like representing how their lives is flashing before their eyes.
Gotta say, the fact that no through road continued after the video (with the same name) I never knew it had anything after (definetly scared me as a kid xd)
It'd be crazy if this was announced as a group project but then it turned out to be a goosebumper for all the viewers
Marcus the symbol looks like a stick charm, which is the symbol used for the blair witch project. In the blair witch project the symbol *acts as a portal.*
And the symbol is shown right after they go teleported back to the tunnel in tape 3...
This Boggles my mind, and considering how old it is, it really completes a part of me to have it explained. Thanks!
Thx for the warning at the start marcus
i might’ve pooed on myself while watching :(
i keep editing but just before 15:24 like when you’re looking at the fields i swear ive seen that exact place in like tennessee or something
this is so old of a video and its amazing watching a genuine reaction to it with someone whos never seen it before. love this
if i'm not wrong its one the very first analog horror in the early history of youtube
Finally you reacted to this! This series was legit so unsettling and the storyline is really getting me interested. This is awesome!
This video made me feel surprised, scared, and shock . But I'm glad i gotten to be watching your video Emortal Marcus but earlier.
I gotta watch imaginary with my dad, looks good. One of the only times I have actually looked into a sponsor.
I grew up in Stevenage. It’s an okay-ish place to live. Lots of good memories
This short film is so well done, but I could never get immersed due to recognizing the “QUICKSILVER GIIIIRRRRLLL” sound (and the screaming sounds that follow) from the trailer for The Strangers
Hey man, nice job getting the Sponsor anyway the man in the suit got a new episode and I think it has enough info to make a video about it
When I first saw the original video it was terrifying 😭 the music that starts playing sounds genuinely creepy. I LOVE IT.
I remember coming across the first video one day and watching the whole thing. Genuinely creeped me out.
Just wanna say that this is so insanely cool!! I felt so attached to these characters in such a short time. They honestly felt like they could be my friends. ALSO this feels so real!! These guys are awesome actors and so good at making uncanny videos! I'm here from Coryxkenshin! I just HAD to see the rest of the series but I didn't feel comfty doing it alone so TYSMMM for making this video man.
I've seen the first video but I didn't realize it was a series! That's super cool to learn!
Same!
I already saw this video in a SSS with Cory or something, but I didn’t know it was an analog horror, this is freakin awesome.
I remember when the first video first came out honestly as a teenager I kinda thought maybe it was real because it was so well done and unfiction was still new
I love these time loop analog horror things
No analog horror didnt really scare me, but after seeing no through road 1, it genuine made me scared. Whoever made this needs a round of applause 😭
