One team dominates in Germany and has dominated for a long time.
Bayern Munich are on course for their 15th league title since 2000.
But how do they do it?

Bayern gets taxpayer support which is banned in England so from our perspective Bayern has an unfair advantage. @RenegadeShepard69 3 года назад +90

@@Mjwara Exactly. I mean the same could be said of the Ligue 1 pre-Lyon and pre-PSG dominance. Sure it had a moment of monopoly by a corrupt Marseille in the early 90s, but man look at the madness that followed in the mid-90s, after Marseille was stricken of their title, PSG won their second, Nantes their 7th, then Auxerre their first, then Monaco their 6th, then Lens their first, then Bordeaux, Monaco, Nantes, then Lyon came, and after Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Lille and Montpeillier won. I mean that's a crazy run of competitivity, with clubs like Metz having a solid 90s at the top too, amongst others. And they were able to be decent enough in Europe at the time. I really like the Bundesliga and mildly enjoy the Ligue 1 and wish it had more respect of the other fans because they have good models on how to run a league overall.

      @DukeSkylocker 3 года назад +15

@@yoorie19 To be fair, that was only one season in 3. Liga. In fact, this season Bayern II are in serious danger of relegation, while Dortmund II are almost certainly going to get promoted to 3. Liga, meaning we could get a case where the Dortmund reserves will be ranked higher than the Bayern reserves.
Which I think just reflects Dortmund's incredible eye for young talent. Already, they've got a host of talented teenagers ready to take up the mantle (Bellingham, Reyna, Knauf, Moukoko, etc). And they deserve credit for the way they went from edge of ruin in the mid 2000s to debt free just a decade later. They've also been doing a better job at keeping their talent longer than expected in recent seasons (everyone thought Sancho would be gone two seasons ago) and they've actually been scoping up more rival Bundesliga talent recently than Bayern have.
Unfortunately, a combination of the pandemic and coaching issues has seriously derailed their build towards being legitimate Bayern challengers. I really hope they can qualify for Champions League, otherwise they will almost certainly be seeing a mass exodus that they've managed to avoid the past couple seasons (and also neither Wolfsburg nor Frankfurt really have the depth to compete in the CL the way Dortmund can).

As a new football fan this is what I found a little weird. In other leagues like NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB I’m used to every team having at least one player that could be considered Top 10 or 5 at their position due to draft and salary cap which incentivizes losing in a sense but it’s main purpose is to stop teams from hording talent due to having more money or history. Players can still leave in free agency but usually when players first start out they have to go to specific teams. When I started watching Football I noticed that all of the best players at each position for some leagues were all on the top 4-8 teams.

I agree, I think they work for their respective sports. Especially considering Football’s size and number of No.1 Leagues draft wouldn’t possibly work, and hard salary caps might but the bigger clubs would never agree to that. Overall I enjoy each of the main 4 US sports and International Football how they are. Super League might’ve been a decent idea when Football was in its silver age but implementing it now would be hurtful to Football as a collective.

Whenever these teams make it hard for us in the league, Bayern becomes harder even in the UCL. 2001,2010 all through 2013 and even 2020 until we got Flick because Leipzig and a resurging Monchengladbach came knocking, Bayern have always thrived on a harder league to become maniacs in the UCL. The problem for other clubs is not necessarily that Bayern buys all of their players, but that Bayern is the only club in Germany that can retain its talent. If Bayern doesn't poach their brightest stars, some English or Spanish team will. Thus, other teams in Germany have to reinvent themselves every other year, whereas Bayern can hold on to those that really do flourish in its culture, like Neuer, Mueller, Lewandowski, Robben or Ribery. In other clubs, those players would have 2 good years, and then leave, or play another year and leave on a free. Look at Werner and Havertz, who have already left their clubs, or Haaland and Sancho (and Bellingham) who will do the same this summer, or the next. If they played at Bayern, there's no need to sell, and salaries are competitive enough, so other top clubs can't easily poach.

They didn't want to sell Lewandowski, and u could see that in klopp's interview before lewa left. I have always had a sore spot when it comes to lewa, gotze and Hummels, those 3 along with Reus could have won many titles and trophies, but they threw it for the easier route
Since then even Dortmund have given up on title races. They have now become a feeder club, a place for youngsters to improve only for them to leave
They need 11 Reus like players who r ready to dedicate themselves, but practicality that's impossible, not r they willing to go out of their way to convince players to stay
And with the potential loss of nagelsmann, Leipzig r also gonna have a hard time playing catch up with Bayern.

Even the players play with such Nature that they'll be in a big team soon once their name gets into News. Look at Halaand for example , after Giants started to Mutter his name ? Dude started to sideline Dortmund & doesn't play the way he should & shows disappointment all the time. This is with Most German clubs & the players . Clubs make a team in s short span , pick out names & planning starts on whom they wanna make the next big thing. I always say - Bayern is a Team of Men that Competes with Dortmund ( A Team of just turned Adults ) & Dortmund Competes with Other Teams filled with New players every season. That's Bundesliga has become but lemme tell you one thing . If you take ou Bayern & you watch other teams plays ? You'll surely like Bundesliga a lot .

The last point of yours is bullseye.
Bundesliga actually has more stories beside the title race like the rise of Union, the fall of HSV and S04. Even the relegation battle is always entertaining every season (which Mainz always somehow find their way to survive).
With the gigantic nature and presence of Bayern in the domestic makes every lose of theirs feel very ecstactic. Just take a look again at their lose to Kiel.

And on Dortmund have managed to retain the title, and to be fair have (for now) remained competitive in most seasons. The hope is that either a team can put together a team of hungry young players and solid experienced pros along with a young exciting manager like Dortmund did to win their successive titles which I feel they are constantly trying to do but keep having the rug pulled out at the opportune moment. Or like with Wolfsburg you get a season where there's no clear favourite (unlikely with Bayern), have a solid squad and put together one of the deadliest strike forces ever seen almost out of nowhere.

I'm curious, and I'd be grateful to anyone who could provide more insight. In light of the Super League rising and falling faster than we could blink, there were calls for reforms, such as 50+1, but I wonder how that would impact the Premier League. The so-called Big Six would obviously have the advantage in terms of revenue, renown, and scope, but I wonder how "bigger market" is defined in Europe. Here in America, "bigger market" refers to larger media markets, so NYC is #1, LA is #2, etc. By that standard, it would seem like London based teams would have an advantage on paper, but I wonder how that plays out in reality.

Basically whenever Bayern drops points 2 matches in a row, the press calls for a crisis. 2011/12 people laughed at us for finishing second in all 3 competitions. Every year before the season starts, fans from other clubs mock us that this year the team is old, fragile, slow, not elite anymore. There is a desire to compete at the top of the UCL (what lead to 4 finals and 2 wins in my time a s a fan), doing it better than the other Bundesliga clubs who haven‘t won anything in Europe since 1997.
