I agree and in support of all the comments they said about malays when it comes to culture and religion. Even though its 2019, we are decades away in becoming progressive and more welcoming of differentiating beliefs/opinions/traditions/etc. (I think so far we merely act as if we do in face value, but a large majority is still unfavourable to anything that is different to themselves) Edit: I love this video as whole! I don think lazy is the correct word, but laidback. The lack of sense of urgency. Back in study days, as a Chinese student, sense of urgency is drilled into many students' mind by parents and teachers. You have less 3 yrs to prepare for PMR and less than 2 yrs for SPM. Those results determine whether you pay 200k for uni or matriks. Same for STPM students. People that are laidback like me arent are not really respected by top achievers, which can be a lot of people in SMJKs. My sister who scored 10As has a extreme sense of urgency, always studying even when going out for dinner. She always have her notes in hand almost 24/7. The main motivation for this is money, many of us are just middle class families, saving 200k means your siblings gets more opportunity and less pressure to push themselves to the extreme. We couldnt rely on matriks placement and it feels like only 2-4 people per high school gets placement. Studying hard for poor families is very crucial as getting 10As couldnt guaranteed full scholarship as there are hundreds of others getting the same or better results. My sister's class for instance, they dont compare how many As they got, they compare how many A+, as almost if not all of their whole class get 10As After SPM, its always sad to watch those from poor families that push themselves to get 10As and fail to get matriks,etc while people with much lower grades gets the offer. When i was in PLKN, I told my instructor and dorm mates that i dont have matriks because I only score 6As they are livid and though I was joking, no matter how i explain, they still wont believe me.
Just for information, you can't separate Malays with Islam, (as one guy had mention about it) because Islam had been Malays culture and part of a live for so many centuries, even Malays festive (Aidilfitri) is the Islamic festive, and that's why you headscarf is matters among Muslim Malays, (because one of the lady questioned it), whether you like it or not, btw still I'm against all the stereotype that girl with no headscarf is going to hell whatsoever because I believe this is the god's job, not the people or especially the ustaz to determine our hereafter life

I don think lazy is the correct word, but laidback. The lack of sense of urgency. Back in study days, as a Chinese student, sense of urgency is drilled into many students' mind by parents and teachers. You have less 3 yrs to prepare for PMR and less than 2 yrs for SPM. Those results determine whether you pay 200k for uni or matriks. Same for STPM students. People that are laidback like me arent are not really respected by top achievers, which can be a lot of people in SMJKs.
My sister who scored 10As has a extreme sense of urgency, always studying even when going out for dinner. She always have her notes in hand almost 24/7. The main motivation for this is money, many of us are just middle class families, saving 200k means your siblings gets more opportunity and less pressure to push themselves to the extreme. We couldnt rely on matriks placement and it feels like only 2-4 people per high school gets placement. Studying hard for poor families is very crucial as getting 10As couldnt guaranteed full scholarship as there are hundreds of others getting the same or better results. My sister's class for instance, they dont compare how many As they got, they compare how many A+, as almost if not all of their whole class get 10As
After SPM, its always sad to watch those from poor families that push themselves to get 10As and fail to get matriks,etc while people with much lower grades gets the offer. When i was in PLKN, I told my instructor and dorm mates that i dont have matriks because I only score 6As they are livid and though I was joking, no matter how i explain, they still wont believe me.

Just for information, you can't separate Malays with Islam, (as one guy had mention about it) because Islam had been Malays culture and part of a live for so many centuries, even Malays festive (Aidilfitri) is the Islamic festive, and that's why you headscarf is matters among Muslim Malays, (because one of the lady questioned it), whether you like it or not, btw still I'm against all the stereotype that girl with no headscarf is going to hell whatsoever because I believe this is the god's job, not the people or especially the ustaz to determine our hereafter life
