  • Опубликовано: 6 сен 2014
  • We all know the stereotypes.
    We all know what other races think about us.
    And we all know that on social media, remarks by individuals fan the flames of
    racism.
    To explore this issue, we decided to do a test.
    We got Malaysians from different races, ages and backgrounds to audition for a
    short film.
    They did not know the script. They did not know the camera was rolling.
    Are you ready to find out what Malaysians really think about each other?

      Penghinaan Rasmi Indo terhadap Malaysia terjadi di zaman Soekarno yg dihasut PKI. Secara tidak rasminya pada zaman org Indo terlalu prejudis dgn Malaysia termasuk soal budaya.Budaya itu milik bangsa bukan negara.

    It would be better if you tried doing it outside of very urban areas. The target group are urbanites and most of us do mix and grow up among many races. That sentiment might very once you go to places considered hot spots for racial stereotypes..

      @miguelcsh 10 лет назад +4

      not to generalize if urban people or the rural people are racist, but we do see racism everywhere in Malaysia. its up to us who are not racist to educate our fellow same race people. lately i've seen a few circumstances on facebook, people defending other races other than their own, and its really nice to see. sure this video is a feel good video, but its an indication that the good exist and not everyone is racist. hopefully one day in the future there wont be anymore racism at all in malaysia.

    For me, if you want to see the truth, the best would be a casual talk (with hidden camera), with people they know or comfortable with. Only then the racial stuffs will come out (if they are in fact racist - I hope all of us are not). In this video, even if they do not know they are recorded, they are still talking to somebody unknown to them. They are still holding back...

    • @ZairulAzri
      @ZairulAzri 10 лет назад +10

      It's ok to be racist with limits? Are you listening to yourself?
      IT'S NOT OK TO BE RACIST. PERIOD. Not in front, not at the back. What makes you good is not whether you're brown, dark brown, black, yellow, white, pink or even blue. It's your good deeds.
      Just like what the Prophet SAW said: "All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action."

I mean , my teacher from Terengganu also said that Sabah is far more advance than his place ... & I don't think there's partly ' no racism ' in Malaysia ... Most of my friends who are in Semenanjung studying in the university there right now didn't fit well with the people there ... They looked us up like we some kind of alien ... & a group of people asked my aunt if we go there with balloons & my cousin's friends laughed at me from the way I talk ... LOL

    I find the results of this "survey" to be prone to error. People act like they do in social media because it provides anonymity. When in face to face with another human, everyone would stop being judgmental/racist/prejudiced whether being filmed or not. Thats why sometimes I feel social media is bad. Emails are still ok though

    Nak tgk betul2 semangat satu Malaysia silalah dtg ke Kelantan. Sy x tipu. Bayangkan, sebelum Malaysia merdeka bangsa2 kelantan dah lama bersatu xkira Melayu,cina,india & siam. Cube tgk Kelantan, Melayu cina india & Siam semuanya berckp dlm satu bahasa, Bahsa Kelantan. Malah 1Kelantan lebih mengatasi 1Malaysia.
    Info:
    - Hampir 700 thn Kaum Melayu, Cina, India, Siam & Org Asli menjalinkan persahabatan. Buktinya? cuba tgk kampung dkt Bachok & Tumpat dimana satu kmpng tu ada 4 bangsa (Ngam-ngam). Tokong tertua di asia terletaknya di kelantan (Tokong Mek).
    - Bangsa kelantan berkongsi@asimilasi dgn budaya yg same. Cth; mkn budu, sirih, mempunyai nama timangan melayu Kelantan.
    - Bangsa Kelantan (melayu,cina,india,siam) dh survive 2 zaman penjajahan bersama2. (Zaman pendudukan Jepun & British).
    - Walaupun majoriti Kelantan adalah melayu, minoriti pula adalah kaum cina,india&siam tp tu x menjadi penghalang utk hidup harmoni. Cube tgk kt Kelantan, bangsa Kelantan still boleh tgk wayang kulit Cina same2, tgk dikir barat same2, main Wau teraju tiga (Kelantan) same2.

      mohamad shazrin sabahan speak sabah in their state too... pure perak also speak like perak.. its called accent nothing to make big deal about... when majority of their people have accent speak like that.. high chance for everybody to speak like that..
      fact no 1 = awal2 lagi dah salah.. hampir 700 tahun? dude china and india come to malaysia just less then 200 hundred years ago.. jadah apa 700 tahun sedangkan zaman melayu melaka dulu pun tak sampai 700 tahun lagi.. parameswara menjumpai melaka tahun 1400 - 1450.. sooo 2014 - 1450 pandai2 la kire sendiri....
      fact no 2 = bukan kelantan jeeee alami benda tu.. satu malaysia pun survive zaman penjajahan sama2..
      fact no 3 = kalau aku duduk kelantan 10 tahun.. sah sah la aku makan makanan kelantan.. kalau aku duduk luar dari kelantan pun sah sah aku makan benda lain.. takde kene mengena langsung dengan budaya... aku makan budu = aku kelantan la ek... terrenganu pun ada budu gak..
      fact no 4 = same macam no 2.. bukan kat kelantan jeee ada benda tu.. negeri2 lain pun ada gak..

  • @abfirdaus5753
    @abfirdaus5753 10 лет назад +102

    This is just a selective interview or I can even say staged, you want to know how racist majority of people really are in Malaysia? Just go to some Facebook pages and click at them comments and see for yourself. Hell, you can go to the streets with your hidden HD camera and ask those strangers about what do they think about other races and ask them to say those melayu pemalas/cina pendatang/india pemabuk lines and rest assured you will not be disappointed. This interview proved nothing to be considered as 'Malaysian is not a racist country/society' or 'We Malaysian defends one another'.
    Just like not everyone interviewed are not a bigoted racist, doesn't mean that everybody isn't one, because racism is a real deal, not something you can waive off from a short video and expect your audience be like "Aww we ARE MALAYSIANS" while in reality it's not like that.
    The idea of racism are nurtured & moulded by the society, so to the society must we ask them how it's gonna end or how to curb the racism at bay. Do some real stuff MalayMail, you can't give this 'feel-good' facade video to your audience

    • @seventh
      @seventh 10 лет назад +17

      I think the "feel-good" video is great rebuttal to the racism remarks that we often see on Facebook. The video isn't trying to hide anything but instead, it's pushing a message of "Is there a reason we should be racist?" which I think is fantastic. Like you said, the idea of racism is created by the society. This video makes us question our own opinions of other races and hopefully, the next time we think of something racist....we'll be reminded not to.

    • @abfirdaus5753
      @abfirdaus5753 10 лет назад +1

      seventh What I meant to say is what we need most is an honest insight from people out there, spontaneously, what do they think about racism, how ugly & damaging racism is to the nation/future society and about what actually inciting this racial dissatisfaction, go out there and not be selective. Because RUclips videos can only do so much and targeting a limited group with already good conscience about racism and need no rebuttal.

      people in general seem to be more sensitive to racism and it triggers but are not too comfortable accepting the aftermath and how it can destroy a society. Say am rich, I don't care too much about being a racist even just for a joke, while my same high self esteem can ruin the low self esteem of someone in my own same race to think 'owhh! I should be racist too maybe I will feel better or be a better supporter of my race.' I like this Country and battle everyday to still like it, am not Malaysian.

    Im gonna say, in my honest opinion when most of us live in a community of same race,we dont mingle & we have what we call race superiority that be planted since we were a kids(government policies & education system) the prejudice & racist thought towards other race is still there. And its not only happen in Malaysia. I admit sometimes this racist thought come across my mind plenty of time. But if we be able to open our mind & heart, to understand, educate each other,I believe we can be truly Malaysian.

    Hi, I do agree with you that this video may not be an exact representation of every Malaysian, but I don't think that was the intention of the video. I think the people behind this video know that there are tons of racists among us (like you pointed out) and they're trying to remind people that there are Malaysians who would stand up against racism, and maybe we should all do that too.

    This is a decent video, kudos to Malay Mail for the commendable effort in showing Malaysian society as what it really is- a generally tolerant people (forget about ISMA, PERKASA, etc, the former even lost their deposit the last time they contested in a general election).

Just because you met bad one, you already made your conclusion that all of them are racist. Some of them are living with other, support each other regardless of what kind of their own races. I daresay y'all still have no clue about their true values. So, i suggest learn more about them instead of talk bad about them in here. Another said, the Chinese don't want to study in national schools because they don't want to be forced to learn Malay. My Malay neighbour buried his wife's placenta at the roadside in front of my house. When I protested, he said the land does not belong to me and threatened to throw a cow placenta in my house. These are the average people I share my country with, not those in your interview.

      Doesn't mean that SOME people of the race are STUPID and racist, all of the race are stupid and racist. That is down to individuals. Stupid people where ever they go in this world they will still be STUPID and racist, no matter what race they are!

      I apologized on behalf of all malays that has treated you like that. where are you from? personally, i have never made any racist comments on any race whatsoever and neither does my malay/chinese/indian friends. where i came from there are roughly the same amount of malays, chinese and indians and it's the same to the school that i go too. there are no majorities or minorities. in my school or neighbourhood i have never seen anyone being racist to anyone. everyone is united. if you go to my school you will see malays, chinese and indians hanging out together. it's actually depends on where you came from/live.

    Malaysia can be more powerful if all races are together bring our country to the world... But it just the politicians who are so discriminate towards all races. As Malay I really really wanted to see my Malaysian friends united and working together so we can make a big transformation to our beautiful and beloved country.

    Proud of your effort and proud of being a Malaysian. Thumbs up guys.
    And pls guys, just show appreciation to the effort being made by the producers. Humans are not brought up to be racist. Let's just all take a moment and be glad to be Malaysians who stood up for other races.
    Those page and profiles in Facebook are just useless keyboard warriors using fake profile to spark racism matters in Msia. But you and me knows that whatever happens, we will stand up for each other, regardless of the race.
