    My 1880 is 4 years old too and I agree with everything you said… I was after the stability and storage of the boat and couldn’t have been more pleased… The 115 Mercury is so fuel efficient it almost makes you money 💰 when Fishing 🎣!!!… Great 👍 video, Thank You

    Install traction tape on the front part of the fenders. It will eliminate chipping and it looks good.
    Tire inflation wasn’t the cause of your tire separating. The stock tires are junk. Install Goodyear assurance tires and any tire issues are gone.
    I installed a keel guard as well. Still looks like new. Vexus makes a great tin. Now with the thicker and redesigned hull they shouldn’t crack anymore. great review !

      Appreciate the information Bob. I actually had that type of tape on the fenders, and it worked very well. Unfortunately, I had an incident with buzzards at ramp one outing, and those birds picked the tape clean off!! Thank you for watching!

    I have a 2019 1980 white like yours!! I have not had any issues with weld cracks on my 2019....Have you?? After hearing of them, I wondered just how many Vexus boats seem to be solid and have not had this problem! Love my Vexus!!

      Fortunately, I have never had any significant issues with my Vexus. But when I have contacted Vexus, they have always been very helpful. Thanks for watching.

    I was told by a boat dealer the keel guard will not stay on aluminum what is your take on that?

    • @BassinwithCaptLou
      @BassinwithCaptLou  Год назад

      Thank you for watching. As far as my take. My Keel guard has been on for well over a year without issues.

    Yeah it's not a hard case paint. Scratches to easy. Still love the boat. Car paint holds up better ;)

    How difficult was it to replace the Trim motor?

      Since the boat is under warranty, I took it to local mercury dealer. They took care of the pump installation. Thank you for watching!

      @@BassinwithCaptLou I use to fish out there non-stop. Was a great place 10 years ago for some nice fish. Nice to see my old stomping grounds since I haven't been there in awhile.

    How does this boat do in the wind?

    • @BassinwithCaptLou
      @BassinwithCaptLou  8 месяцев назад

      That's an excellent question thank you for asking. Like most tin boats, wind will not be your friend. On very windy days, I either power pole down if I can, and fish sections at a time. Or, I use drift socks. I use up to 2 drift socks at a time sometimes.
      Appreciate you for watching, thank you for the question.

      @@BassinwithCaptLou thanks; yeah I have a 16ft aluminum boat, so hard to crappie fish, especially without spot lock.. I’m weighing getting a larger aluminum boat vs fiberglass

    • @BassinwithCaptLou
      @BassinwithCaptLou  8 месяцев назад

      @mattman8822 Fiberglass will handle wind better because they tend to be a heavier boat. I had a tracker Pro165 for years, and man, did I despise those windy days. Lol!! Aluminum vs. fiberglass boats both have their pro's and con's. Best of luck with your decision. Thanks again for watching!

      Thank you for watching. Back then if I remember correctly, 1880's were starting at around 28k.

    It’s not the highest it will hold a 135 they just don’t offer the evinrude anymore

    • @BassinwithCaptLou
      @BassinwithCaptLou  Год назад

      Correct. The highest is a 135. But since no one makes a 135 anymore. The 115 is the best the boat can get.
