This is accurate and honest advice. I've lived here and also in Chicago/NJ/Michigan. Those places' cloudy winters are completely different from sunny winter in Flagstaff. When it's 35 degrees and full-sun/blue-sky you go to the grocery in a sweater. Not depressing like 8 weeks of overcast. An 85 degree day in Flagstaff summer is completely different from Houston or Dallas. The high-altitude, dry air is comfortable. The top income tax rate in AZ just dropped to 2.5%. If you're coming from San Diego, the weather is more variable but from North/Eastern states, the weather is pleasant. If when you retired you swore to the wife that she would never, ever see another snowflake, then Phoenix is for you.
I found this video very helpful and will be showing it to my boyfriend! Growing up for some weird reason I picked flagstaff as a place I want to move to when I got older. I'm 25 now and still would love to visit/live there. So here's to hoping! 🤞🏻
Its wonderful there. It feels very close to visiting a small town in England ...small shops, a lot of things in walking distance, and dogs everywhere (even though I am not a dog person) I still think its really cool that places let dogs go anywhere...which reminds me of the UK.
Just moved to flagstaff from indiana. I love it here so far. What i like about is its bignenough to have everything you need, but still small enough to have that small town feel. It is WAY more expensive here then in indiana but i got lucky and found a 1 bedroom in sunnyside. Its a nice ish neighborhood. The prople are nice.
I've been looking at moving to Flagstaff from DFW, as I'm ready for a more smaller city vibe and access to nature. One pro you didn't mention: Flagstaff is an international dark sky city.
Hi Tammy - thank you for the videos! Can you recommend a good creative local Lender? I like the ones who can figure out solutions as a deal progresses and who can move quickly and go the extra mile to assist successful offers (rather than big faceless lenders).
No Costco is a dealbreaker ugh.. I literally buy everything at Costco and rarely step foot in a regular store for years. Hopefully you’ll get a Costco or maybe they can deliver.
My husband and I are moving to flagstaff in January! We're looking to get a set in stone job and an apartment before we get there. My husband's an engineer and I'm a human services worker specializing in homelessness/housing interventions! We've been saving up for a while to be able to move out there because it's our dream and we are outdoorsy folks. No children, 2 cats and we're ok staying in an apartment until we are able to house hunt within the state. Any advice would be helpful because we've heard a lot of discouraging feedback from others😅
@joevarga5982 It's working out fine. We found jobs in our respective degrees through word of mouth connections. But thanks for the words of encouragement
@@peanuthead5280 I'm trying to save you some grief, smarty. You didn't mention any connections previously. You're very lucky. Try finding jobs without connections.
@joevarga5982 Every job I've had up until this point has been without connections. A lot of biased feedback based on your poor experiences and assumptions. I'm not lucky I'm blessed. It's been great living here with lots of welcoming and helpful people. We moved with no support or family backing, but you gotta make what you want in life work. Sorry that you're jaded and need others to suffer as well. Hope you get that figured out
It Sucks Living In Flagstaff Would Avoid At All Costs I Honestly Wish I Could Move Out Of Flagstaff ASAP But Given My Current Circumstances Will Not Be Able To Do So For At Least A Few More Years
The homeless people are annoying when they hit you up for money, and Flagstaff is overrun with them. They hit me up several times a day. There's plenty of traffic in Flagstaff and I'm not liking the poor pothole-ridden roads. I go to the laundromat and 1/3 of the machines are broken. I go to the gym and 2 of the 3 showers are broken. I hear over and over that it's nearly impossible to get repair people to show up because they come from Phoenix. WTF? The train is a nuisance. The train doesn't blow it's horn. Instead, there are incredibly loud squawk boxes at every train crossing that broadcast the most obnoxious bell-ringing horn-blowing noise I've ever heard every time a train passes, which is literally 100 times a day. WTF? Trader Joe's? Flagstaff doesn't even have a Lowe's. The lack of amenities is a big negative.

I love that flagstaff is only a few hours away from me to go to the woods and snow!

I would love a video on the schooling options - particularly the schools that cater well to kids with Special Needs...
The traffic sucks when the ski season is in full swing. It is miserable.

Are you kidding? Flagstaff is death for engineers. It's basically an overgrown tiny town. How's that working out for you?

When does winter end? Is winter a short season?
First snowfall in Flagstaff is mid November. Most our snowfall is January through March. April it warms up.
Talk about the flooding. Where not to live in Flagstaff.
@@Dirk-my2zf great idea!! I’ll do it!
