I have used the "keep your elbow in" swing thought when I am starting to miss my target, but mainly on the downswing. Your comment about it starts with the push away makes good sense...
Jr., the term to rotate your arm in that position is called supinanation The correct way to teach this is not to rotate your elbow or wrist, but to rotate your actual shoulder, you want to roll your shoulder and forarm towards the outside wall, which will bring your elbow in against your side without messing with your wrist or lower arm. Which will tend to cause people to grab. And that is why most people tend to get Around the ball, when doing this, they compromise their hand and elbow and squeeze. If you do not Use your hand or elbow to rotate your elbow in, You have much more options for your hand position at the bottom. I'm not Professional bowler, or currently a coach , but I did stay at a holiday inn last night. (Butched by voice to text)
DO THIS! And give it time to set in. It will improve everything across the board when you get it. Not to mention less pain and stress on your body parts. Great advice to keep reminding us all, JR. Do you want higher games or Just more hook that is so hard to Controll? Keep listening to JR!
Great point about improving successful outcomes though blending the pattern. This is precisely why the same teams always do well at the Open Championships.
The tendon in my wrist often pops, so I tend to rotate my hand 90 degrees, then rotate it back at the bottom of the swing. I'll try to keep my elbow tucked in to see if that is doable without pain. Otherwise, this could be a non-starter for me.
Yes, and no. If it works, do not change a thing. The left side is a different animal and the 2 mentioned grew up on different equipment and techniques for said equipment. RH bowlers who struggle while getting up the side of the ball, tend to benefit the most from getting the elbow in and hand inside/up the back of the ball.
They were more than likely hitting up on the ball and not rolling the ball in many cases 20-30 years ago. You see many guys still doing it to urethane to get that early roll

It’s stuff we should already know but always good to hear again and again. Needed this today!
This is exactly my problem. So hard to fix! Really have to do a ton of dry swings at home and hope the "muscle memory" starts to kick in.

@joshg218 • Exactly! It's much easier and takes less effort to set up from the top than bottom.

Do I need to get my entire hand below the equator?
Just MOST of it, I think. Even the side is fine. As long as it isn't over the equator, as long as your axis tilt isn't over 90 degrees.
How do I get classes with you
Can you do this wearing a wrist brace...?..
Nope.
So as a lefty that looked up to Parker Bohn III and Jason Couch are they coming out of their ball wrong?

@@joshg218 I’ve watched Parker many of times and he still rolls the ball the same #stroker
@@travishanson166 I’ve watched Parker recently and he still rolls the ball #stroker
My arm is so straight I can not get my hand on the inside of the ball.
At least he's keeping his clothes on this time.
JR needs to stop eating Soy😂😂
