    Everything JR said is 100 percent correct! I'm the "wrong handed" guy and my hand is forever changed. Since his redrilling and coaching my average has increased from 184 to 196. 1 month!! The coolest part was that JR really took time to listen and made sure I focused on being consistent. Truly a bucket list trip!!

    Oh man, this is just I have been working on, because of some of your prior videos on this subject. I gotta tell ya, my last couple of trip to the lanes have been HUGE improvements. I have been working on hand on inside of ball and elbow on the inside of my hand. I have also found that I can get more rev's and less axis rotation, still getting the hook I want (not as much over-hook as I used to) and getting much better drive through the pins. I did some testing one night and found that I get WAY more hook than I thought I would when I go more up the back of the ball and reduce my axis rotation but maintain high rev's. I get much more consistent and predictable hook and MUCH more drive through the pins. Excellent video JR !!!

I was an end-over-end forward roller but finally got rotation. I will try this one too. Thanks Jr

    I've been coached to get my left arm in front of my body until the release. But my body just wouldn't do it... until I tried your tip - have your fingers brush your pant leg when the ball drops. The first practice was probably hilarious to anyone watching. However, two days later at league (sport shot), I was around 20 pins over average. You are correct...it can change your life/game. Can't wait for regular league next week. Thank you very much!

    I focused on this solely during my bowling league last week, and my score vastly improved. Whenever I make a minor adjustment to my play, especially during league, I focus on one change such as this. This has single-handedly helped me out a ton without thinking about it too much and bowling a 640 series. Thanks, JR Raymond.

    Great idea and I use a kettle bell at home upstairs to practice this. To lazy to bring a ball upstairs at my age lol. Just and fyi, I know the chances are slim to none, but please move that couch out from under those bowling balls. I helped out in a pro shop for years and have seen balls fall off the wall or the plastic break from an unseen crack. Hell I even saw a ball fall as someone hit the back side of the wall with a large object they were moving. I don't want to hear about someone being hurt and certainly not the kids.

    I’m going to be 68 in June and just started bowling again this season after a gap of about 35 years due to back injury and two surgeries. What’s your advice on how often to bowl each week for someone my age? I’ve joined three leagues, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights and my average, which started at about 155, is now 187 on Friday night and 165 or so for the other two nights. I’ve purchased two new balls, a Storm Hyroad pearl and a 900 Harsh Reality (moved down to a 14lb weight for the 2nd ball). I only bowled a couple years in my 30’s, so I’m not very experienced and I’m still learning, but I use a finger tip grip and try to rotate the ball with my throw, but I have low rotations so far. I’m also going to try to get some lessons and might consider online instruction if local lessons aren’t satisfactory. Lately I’ve been watching tons of videos and practicing or bowling league 5 times a week and I want to know if this is too much?

    So is there a drill I can do either at the lanes or at home to get rid of the "suitcase" release I was taught 3 decades ago? I started out as a backup ball roller, then a "coach" had me roll the ball with a suitcase release to get the ball motion to hook. Now, because I had done that so much early in life, it became a muscle memory thing. One that I cannot get rid of.

    OK, so tried this last night. It took a lot of getting used to, but I somehow got it to the pocket almost every shot. Did I have more revs? I think so. Was I behind the ball? Hard to say without video. I’ve gotten more revs before trying to stay behind it, but my hand was always on the side of the ball when seeing the video. Anyway, I shot 289 in game 1. Game 2, 2 consecutive pocket 7-10’s for 204. Then shot 246 in game 3 for a 739. I will have to take video to see if I truly changed my release much. That said, I’m 64 years old, and today I have some elbow soreness. I’ve never had that happen in my life. So, I may not be able to bowl like this anyway.

Can someone give me an explanation?

  • @rr2418
    @rr2418 Год назад +2

    I'm a 60 year old senior bowler with a 195 average and I'm happy with my game. If I was getting into many tournaments or had goals to join the Senior Tour, then maybe I would take time off to redo my release and make sure my hand is in the inside of the ball. My release is what you might see in the 1970's or 80's pro release. My game is based on accuracy rather than power. My release at the release point is 5 to 11 o'clock. There are many ways to release a bowling ball. The history of the PBA is a great example of different releases.

    • @jameskinchen2148
      @jameskinchen2148 9 месяцев назад

      A 195 average today is like a 175 average in the ‘70’s. Why on earth would you be happy with that? I used to be a 230’s average bowler. Now, at 64, I’m 220. I don’t feel any different other than being 30 pounds lighter due to heart disease. It frosts me that I can’t bowl 230 anymore, but I throw the ball like you. I have tried to stay behind the ball to create more revs. It’s damn near impossible. Doubt I can execute what he talks about in the video, but I’m gonna try.

    • @rr2418
      @rr2418 9 месяцев назад

      @@jameskinchen2148 Why am I happy with a 195 average? Because I was never a 230 average bowler. Because of my job, I wasn't able to practice and give the attention to my game like I had wanted. Now that I'm retired, I'm starting to get a little practice in. But that doesn't mean I want to take a lot of time to revamp my release. Do I want to improve? Sure I do. Now, you can look at me as a 175 average bowler and that's ok. I know my game and know that I can't be someone that I'm not. I'll never reach a 230 average. I go out there and try to do the best I can each time I bowl. You're a 230 average bowler and that great for you. It's funny though, not all 220+ bowlers are the same. The 220+ average bowlers in the league that I bowl are one of the nicest and coolest people I know. They would never look down on anyone.
