Cochereau Improvisation pour Giscard d'Estaing

This recording was made on the occasion of a private organ demonstration by Pierre Cochereau for a tour group from Germany on March 12, 1978, the day when parliamentary elections were held in France.
Pierre Cochereau was invited to President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing's election party that evening.
François Carbou made a tape recording of the improvisation, which Pierre Cochereau was able to give as a gift to the winner of the evening's election.
Unfortunately, my private recording is not of particularly good quality.
I apologize for this to the willing listeners.
However, it may give an impression of the genius of the improviser Pierre Cochereau.
Cet enregistrement a été réalisé à l'occasion d'une démonstration privée d'orgue par Pierre Cochereau pour un groupe de touristes venus d'Allemagne le 12 mars 1978, le jour où se déroulaient les élections législatives en France.
Le soir, Pierre Cochereau était invité à la soirée électorale chez le président Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.
François Carbou a réalisé un enregistrement audio de l'improvisation que Pierre Cochereau a pu offrir en cadeau au vainqueur des élections de ce soir-là.
Malheureusement, mon enregistrement privé n'est pas de très bonne qualité.
Je prie les auditeurs de bien vouloir m'en excuser.
Mais il donne peut-être une idée du génie de l'improvisateur Pierre Cochereau.
Diese Aufnahme entstand anlässlich einer privaten Orgelvorführung von Pierre Cochereau für eine Reisegruppe aus Deutschland am 12. März 1978, dem Tag, als in Frankreich Parlamentswahlen stattfanden.
Pierre Cochereau war am Abend zur Wahlparty bei Präsident Valéry Giscard d'Estaing eingeladen.
François Carbou machte eine Tonbandaufnahme der Improvisation, die Pierre Cochereau dem Wahlsieger des Abends als Geschenk überreichen konnte.
Leider ist meine private Aufnahme nicht von besonders guter Qualität.
Ich bitte die geneigten Hörer dafür um Entschuldigung.
Sie vermittelt aber vielleicht einen Eindruck von der Genialität des Improvisators Pierre Cochereau.

Die große Orgel blieb erhalten, wurde abgebaut, gereinigt, wieder aufgestellt, zur Zeit wird eifrig an der Intonation gearbeitet. Sie wird nach der Wiedereröffnung der Kathedrale wieder zu hören sein - Gott sei Dank!

Vieux ????? VGE était alors le plus jeune PR que nous ayons eus !!! En 1978, il n'avait que 52 ans... Mitterrand qui lui succédera 3 ans plus tard avait 10 ans de plus et était donc 17 ans plus âgé que lui à son élection !
