I have it, and you havee exactly the correct points. A perfect small travel lens that outperforms the kit lens in low light. However, updating the firmware is a problem - only available on the Chinese language website. Updated firmware is better. Theree is a slight glare issue when shooting slightly towards the Sun, a polarizing filter or using a hand as a hood fixes that.
Can anyone share an opinion how this lens works with older Sony cameras, such as the A5000? I'm particularly concerned with AF performance. I bought this lens and in pair with A5000 AF is disappointing. It is much worse than with a kit lens (only about 70% of accurate shots). In addition, AF problems occur randomly and not at all in difficult scenes. Am I the only one who has such observations? Maybe it is a defect of my particular piece of lens?
Thanks for another great review, Mark! For Fuji, the TTArtisans is great for that aperture ring. I got it for my X-T2! About this one, that "cinematic flare" is really surprising! I think these lenses are great for being shot at f4 or f5.6 for street photography, but is so cool to have the f2.8 for low light/night time. By the way, are you planning on reviewing the TTArtisans' 500mm f6.3? The price is such a good deal, I got it for EF mount (I can adapt it on X-mount too!), rains have not allowed me to test it much but seems to have usable IQ stopped down.
@@markwiemels if you find the time to review it, I will surely look forward to watch that video! I think it will be a gateway for people to do more bird photography, once some transition into more expensive ultra-telephoto lenses, and the TTArtisans becomes cheaper on the used market. Take care!
I would really want to do some side by side testing before making specific comments. I don't recall having problems with either, but it's been a while since I used the TT lens.
Hard to know for sure, but based on what I'm seeing from others channels, it doesn't look like it. I may add it later and see, thanks for the suggestion.
Another great video Mark! As a new photographer I really appreciate the budget lenses you review. A couple of questions. 1: I already own the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 is it worth having a prime that falls within the range of the Sigma? 2: If my goal is to eventually do professional work, are the budget lenses you review worth the investment or will I find myself buying the more expensive one anyway? Thanks for your time and any advice you can give!
@@markwiemels Thanks! I picked up the TTArtisan 56 when you posted about its sale 😊 I think I want a good telephoto next as some of the shots I have planned and done didn’t turn out as I had hoped on the sigma or TTArtisan.
I understand that click bait works, but is anyone actually shocked that companies like 7artisans are releasing good cheap lenses anymore? How many times can this same video be made with the same title? I almost didn't even bother watching because I want to know if the lens is even one I care about before clicking.
** Looks at the other lens ** X, E or Z mount only. ** Cries in Canon RF and EF-M mounts ** Pondering selling all my Canon gear and going Sony or Fuji. :(
I really can’t stand how so many of your videos don’t mention what lens you are talking about until much later in the video, if at all. I don’t know if this is a conscious decision or a strategy to increase monetization my making people watch longer, but I just wind up stopping the video and viewing something else. Even your notes will have a generic "Get the lens here” link and your thumbnails will have a picture of the lens oriented in such a way so you can’t read the front of the lens you are reviewing. So aggravating. If annoyance is your goal, congrats; I shut off my notifications to your channel. Shame, because your content is quite good otherwise.
It was 32 Seconds into the video? Yes, in the past I did do this, but changed that based on the feedback, in all recent videos I try to be clear about the lens model early in the video.

the real question is, should i get this lens or the viltrox 20mm f2.8 for talking head videos and street photography on my zv-e10?
I wish artisans would make 10mm auto focus lens for APS-C
can't guess distance for a 10 mm?
At 10mm you really don't need autofocus hahahaha
Auto focus for a 10mm?
@@bartlevenson7851 with 10mm you can do lot more than taking scenery pictures!!
Despite not having the need for a new lens, 7Artisans, TTArtisans, and Viltrox can't stop releasing budget bangers instead of budget busters
thanks for the great explanation as always, what would you recommend, the 7artisans or the TTartisans?
Ooooh I've been waiting for this one! I ordered it a few days ago and it will arrive in a few days
Have fun! It’s a really cool little lens.
This or the TTARTISAN 27mm F2.8?

How wonderful that your children are interested in photography. It must be very fulfilling.

Photographer family - you love to see that! Thank you for the review, Mark
It would have been nice if you compared the TTArtisans version quality with this 7Artisans lens and not just refer to it at the end.
Thanks, yes, planning that for a seperate video.

I second this!🙏

Hi Mark, can you comment on if this lens and the TTArtisan 27mm AF and how they work with PDAF?
I would really want to do some side by side testing before making specific comments. I don't recall having problems with either, but it's been a while since I used the TT lens.
Any news on their cine zoom?
Noting that I have been told.
Are you sure not including the lens name in the title would increase the traffic to this video?

By the examples posted, at least it's not a boring lens.

7Artisans Shocks Everyone?
My wife and I, and our two dogs, were totally unmoved.
