Yes if you're outside I can imagine it being annoying but who games outside? 2) I can play any game in ultra settings with decent fps around 80-90 for cyberpunk and hogwarts legacy no lag 3) the fan is loouder than I thought it would be but stays cool

      Quintessential. The reason that Dell is not upgrading those crappy panels is exactly the people you are representing🤣🤣. A 300 - 350 nit screen was the standard in 2020, and I'm surprised you are four years behind us. Please note, the dodgy stuff Alienware provides apparently can't justify the pricing, even if you don't see that the mainstream for 18' panel is 400 - 500 nit brightness, refresh = 240 Hz.

      @@letsqu1tThey are the cheapest, the panel cost is factored in. The panel is over 300 nits, closer to 350 btw which is FINE for normal indoor usage. Don’t be a hater mindlessly, simping for bright panels because laptop makers are pushing them doesn’t show nuanced thinking in context. If they cost the same you’d have a legit criticism, but they don’t so the criticism doesn’t stand.

      I wish more would also not shy away from this and have well built, well cooled, feature & port packed laptops. I have 4 sticks of RAM, one HDD, 2 nvme SSDs, I regularly use the 4 USB type A ports, along with the other ports. Oh, and it has a DVD too. Though to be fair, in these 7 years, I think I used it about 10 times only. Still, the idea that is a true workhorse, able to do absolutely anything you need / throw at it stands.

    I bought two, with the plan to keep the better of the two… both throttle at any setting but it’s fast spike that doesn’t hit gaming. One unit clearly had a better Element 31 pasting, and better screen so it’s worth getting two to return one. Also, many report an annoying whistle hitch is due to the bottom grill, which can be partially taped over to stop with no real change in thermals.

    2K for 165hz only? No HDR screen? No Thunderbolt 5? No USB 3.2 Gen2x2 or USB 4 Gen2 for all other USB ports? Slow RAM? And for 4000+ bucks? Alienware is crazy.

    • @ovrskr
      @ovrskr 2 месяца назад +2

      they're not crazy, the entry level model is very reasonably priced at 1899, and performs very well. I have it. the screen is also great, no issues with the colors and the eye can't differenciate 165 vs 250 hz anyway.
      The RAM can be upgraded as you wish like with any machine, and the USB 4.2 thing, Idk what difference it makes, 2% faster. What's Thunderbolt 5?
      The only thing I can think of that uses thunderbolt is external GPU, which you definitely don't need with this thing anyway.
      I find it well balanced, you get a fast cpu, a fast GPU, a good keyboard, a good screen. Nothing is the best, but nothing sucks either about it. Except the weight, it is indeed a bit heavy. The case is a tank too, unlike the other laptops which are plastic.
      There's also a 5 GB ethernet port, that's first class connectivity that I don't see elsewhere.
      Yeah the 4090 is expensive, but 100% of that is the NVIDIA chips costing $3500 because of the AI bubble and monopoly situation

    The key difference between gaming laptops nowadays are the design, because everybody putting bunch of power on a device and selling them with stupid amount of money. I don't like this design. They somehow expected to make a difference by combining alienware design with the first gen HP Omen. This not retro, this is old fashion.

    • @zechssiguro7476
      @zechssiguro7476 9 месяцев назад +1

      I also don't like the design, too smooth for m, the base looks like it could slip off of a desk with the slightest incline. I prefer the design & look of the older Alienware models, Area 51 & before, much more futuristic ergonomics to me.

    They should nearly never be used outside so when would you ever want to use them in 'flashlight' mode?

    I'm sorry for bothering but..
    I'm buying this evening or tomorrow one gaming laptop between
    the HP Omen 16 (2021) and the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16:
    .Hp Omen 16 2021:
    i7 11800h, 3070 maxq, 16gb ddr4, 1Tb, fhd 16:9 1080p
    price: 1000€
    .Acer Predator Helios Neo 16:
    i9 13900hx, 4060, 16gb ddr5, 1Tb, qhd 16:10 1600p
    price: 1600€
    .Is Neo16 far better for gaming?
    .Is Neo16 more powerful cpu really useful for gaming?
    .Are 500 vs 300 nits important for a good visual experience?
    .Does the Neo 16 worth spending 600€/$ more?
    Please and thanks

    I think its very sad, that on the new Alienwares not even the Alienware logo under the screen lights up. Only the keyboard, startbutton and the rear of the laptop are illuminated. On the older models you had many rgb zones like speaker grills, logo, tochpad, control button bar ...

Crazy colors isn't good for Photoshop photo processing & 3D content dev. 🙂 I wouldn't want to have to re-set every key individually. I wonder, when will all those manufacturers stop "saving" on the quality of speakers, microphone and webcam. I really don't get it. We are talking about 4K or even 5K USD laptops here and what we are getting? Crappy speakers, crappy microphone and a crappy webcam. For 5K USD price tag ... I wish Microsoft would finally start supporting Apple M3 processor architecture, so I could get the brand new MacBook Pro leaving all these ridiculous issues behind once and for all ...

    • @lsp6032
      @lsp6032 9 месяцев назад

      Dell is known in the gaming laptop space and even XPS space for cheaping out on parts, Lenovo laptops(using one right now) simply have better speaker and webcam(gamers like me won't care since we use headphones when gaming and we even taped over webcam when not in use), along with microphone and screen and it is more reasonably priced than Dell. But to be realistic, if you want to play demanding AAA games which will push your laptop to the absolute max(forget battery life and noise level even with MacBook Pro at that stage and just plug into the adapter), would you buy a high end headset with microphone for that purpose instead since you definitely can afford that? Cheaping out on parts still isn't an excuse at that price point though.

It's effectively a better looking 16 in laptop, with a better screen, for what's effectively the same performance, however I only have 32 gigs of ram, because I simply do not need 64 at all right now. I got it on sale for $2700 and currently have 3tb of storage in it, still for cheaper than that that Alienware.
