I like how even Pat, triumphant in completing this major life goal is forced to look back on the empty futility of his achievement....very deep and ultimately tragic.
20 YEARS is insane! it took me 6 months working/searching 20 hours a day to find a complete collection of wiiU & my top wanted 300 games for the Wii in mint condition. Id never dare to attempt to even try to find my top 200 NES games in this day & age. Game lovers in the past that got started early like John Handcock & Pat & HappyConsoleGamer are very lucky they got in before collecting games became a massive trend.
Congratulations bro !!!!!! That's rare and hard as HELL. I'm a casual COLLECTOR I have a few hundred nes and a few hundred snes games , started SEGA and ps1 lately ( finding a huge quantity of 100s of ps1 games for a $ A PIECE or less ) I don't know if they will ever have any value BUT I love COLLECTING video games, WRESTLING FIGURES and game and WRESTLING memorbila ( I found the huge MARIO statue it was on pawn STARS and paid 50 bucks for it and a original ZELDA manual and poster at a garage sell yesterday ( with DOOM on snes ) I know it's not rare but I LOVED it as a kid and paid 1 $ FOR IT, so 51 $ FOR DOOM on snes , manual and ORIGINAL ZELDA poster NES, AND THE REALLY SUPER COOL ALMOST 3 FT TALK MARIO STATUE OR WHATEVER IT IS , I SEE SOME PEOPLE SELLING THEM FOR 3 TO 5 HUNDRED $ , I DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT IT'S WORTH HONESTLY TO ME IT'S PRICELESS I'M SOOOO HAPPY TO HAVE IT AND I FELT GOOD TELLING THE SELLER ( WHO WAS SELLING HIS ADULT KIDS THINGS HE DIDN'T WANT ANYMORE ) THAT THE STATUE WAS WORTH AT LEAST 150 2OO BUCKS IF HE WANTED TO HOLD IT OR SELL IT ONLINE BUT I WOULDN'T BE WILLING TO PAY MORE THEN THE 50 FOR IT AS I WASN'T RE SELLING IT I WAS COLLECTING IT AND SHOWED HIM PICTURES OF MY GAME ROOM WITH THE NES AND SNES GAMES ON THE SHELVES OF THE WALL NEXT TO BOTH ORIGINAL SYSTEMS ALONG SIDE THE RECENT RE RELEASE OF BOTH SYSTEMS WITH THE GAMES PRE LOADED ON THE HARDWARE . HE SAID 50 WAS FINE THANKED ME FOR MY HONESTY AND WANTED TO SEE IT GO TO SOMEONE WHO WASN'T TRYING TO RE SELL IT AND WOULD LOVE IT AND GIVE IT A GOOD HOME, THAT WAS ME !!! MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SUPER EXCITED AT THE YARD SALE AS WE GOT IT AND I GAVE HER 20 BUCKS TO PURCHASE ABOUT 75-100 GAME BOY GAMES , FROM THE SAME GUY ( I GAVE THE GUY AN ADDITIONAL 30 BUCKS PLUS HER 20 BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANNA BREAK HER HEART WHEN SHE ASKED IF HE SHE COULD HAVE THEM ALL FOR " THIS MONEY'S AMOUNT" LOL , HE HAD A SIGN ASKING 50 FOR THEM ALL WITH A ORIGINAL GAME BOY , SO I PAID HIM THE PRICE FOR A DECENT DEAL AND ME AND MY DAUGHTER HAD A AWESOME DAY OF DADDY / DAUGHTER COLLECTING , THRIFTING AND YARD SELLING
Finishing my bachelor's degree was much the same experience. Thought it would be a great moment and it was just a relief and a void to be filled with other activities
Hey man, thanks for all the content over the years. I was looking back at your vids and it gave me a good feeling. Just teo friends Who value their friendship and taking care off eachother. What iam trying to say thanks and all the best
I've done similar collecting in sportscards. Spent over a decade building two different sets and, when you're done, you don't even know what to think. I eventually got down to one simple question: Do I have this because I want it or because I want to say I have it. Based on your admission of already seeing yourself selling off parts, you've already answered that question. My answer was the same. I sold off everything but a handful of my favorites that I did really want. Best of luck!
Since Pat finalized his NES collection watch how much the prices drop on common NES games lol . Congrats , Pat on 20 years of blood ,sweat & tears . I think collectors are now realizing how hard it is to collect for retro .Say you have 500 NES games , no NWC or Stadium Events ......more than likely you have 80% of shit games that take up space . I think refining your collecting into stuff you like to play is the way to go for most and you get more enjoyment out of it . I see the 3 for $5 bins of common NES games making a return .
Patrizio, you're an 80s kid. You should know that nothing emphasizes a moment of triumph more than a power ballad and a montage. For a momentous occasion like completing a collection I would suggest the song sweetest Victory by Touch and then put it against a montage of all the most memorable moments of putting your collection together. I'm not suggesting you put the montage together using video editor software because all the best footage for a montage like that is the memories. So put the montage together in your mind during a quiet, reflective moment.
That's not uncommon to feel that way after completing a collection. When I finished my Amazing Spider-Man collection I just moved on to Fantastic Four. No fan fare no celebrations just moving on to the next adventure.
1969ChargerRTSE You don't have to be a depressed nihilist for your whole life you know. You can choose to start doing things with value and meaning. I wish you well.
Think too you’ve gotten to the point where personal novelty is gone too. Not to say it doesnt hold value for you as a hobbyist but just that the “wow” factor of getting those first few rare carts is something prob never recreate, so yeah getting older shit lol
Getting complete collections for systems I'll never understand. Congrats Pat for getting like 700 games. 600 of them are kinda shit but oh well. It's really fun in the beginning to go out and search for games you want cuz they're good GAMES you'll actually play. Then collectors change, they get the games they want to play and then it becomes a competition to get deals on the other titles to show off to other collectors. "Oh look what I got!" Nowadays everyone has a retro game room in their home they like to decorate. Good job again, Pat I think it's cool it took you 20 years and Ian you rock! Game on guys.
I agree with you. I feel like it's a bit ridiculous to perhaps pay out of the ass prices for some mediocre game you're probably just going to shelf and let it collect dust.
Five Minute Gaming oh I do. But just remember that game collecting does not automatically mean *get every single game that was ever made for this thing*. That's not how it works for some people, some people build a collection of stuff they like, not stuff they *need* just for completion's sake.
Congratulations Pat the NES Punk, I have been collecting for years and unfortunately will never be able to amass a huge collection like that...it is awesome to see someone get some closure on a hobby
"Empty"... in a haunting whisper... Quote Ian. LOL. Aww. Jaded to games. I feel the same wiith my emulated shit, didnt think it would happen with hard copies. :(
I lost my original video games and a lot of other things ten years ago to a house fire and I was close to having a full north American Sega master system ,genesis, snes, gamegear and 65% of a full nes collection. I'm slowly getting all my consoles back and with handhelds I'm back to having 35 different consoles with 20-80 games for them. I'm only collecting games I want to play though and I check them out first on my laptop if they are games I haven't played.
I don't collect, but I know plenty of collectors, and have the fun is always "the chase". It's not just the having, but talking about the act of collecting with other collectors, and hunting down more.
The funco clearance got me into collecting also. It was exciting getting games and tracking them down from stores that had no idea what it was. Never finished a full set but I don't think it would be as much fun as finding a rare expensive cart for nothing, which is next to impossible these days.
good for your Pat I'm glad you finally finished and I'll tell you why 1: it shows that you are capable of completing a task even if it takes a while which says something about you and it is definitely a good thing sense too many people start things and don't finish 2: the second reason being that your path to maturity was this collection and not the completing of it but having it be something you do as opposed to something that consumes you which too many collectors fall into that particular trap so good for you and good luck on all future projects
That's awesome Pat, good work! I think you guys are right about the growing up thing. I've never been the biggest collector of games myself, but I have held on to almost everything I've bought for my game systems since forever. However, over the last couple of years, I've been selling a lot of it. I've probably sold 70% of my stuff! Certain things I'll never get rid of like my original NES and games but it has felt really good to sell everything else because I have no reason to keep it as I don't really use it as it all just takes up space. Plus, someone else gets to enjoy it. Have at it! =)
When I finished my Super Powers collection (all American figures Moc, all vehicles Mib), I happened to hit 40. Bittersweet is exactly how I would describe it.
Hey.. congratulations man. I know life moves in different places but still a nice thing to celebrate! Wouldn't mind seeing a video with your last two games that you needed and doing a review or what not. Great stuff.
One hell of an accomplishment man. If I where you I would do a video on each game. Show the game, manual and box. Then video of you playing it. When you're done plug your products and podcast.
Great achievement. Lots of people can get a lot games and even a complete collection for N. America, moneywise. But to actually do it and not just talk about it is another thing. And do it because you want to and because you love the games or the era deserves respect. The discussion of the point when a collection is done or complete are intressting. To hear a collectors piont of view are always welcome to me. I get the feeling that collectors don't like to talk about their collection? Is it because they are afraid to sound bragging?
Hi Pat, I haven't been on youtube in a while and was curious to know how Ian is and if he has recovered from his illness? I really enjoy the podcasts you both do and Its always a pleasure to hear Ian's perspective on gaming and life in general.
Congraturation! Your Collection Is Happy End! I have been collecting for the NES since I was a kid and in a few years I turned my box of a dozen NES games into a few shelves. I right now have around 200, I don't think I will get to what you have, I am working on Atari Lynx collecting. But I completed the Virtual Boy Collection.
Ian is looking away while Pat is talking. Ian can barely contain his jealousy. He constantly compares his life to Pat's and always comes up short. You can see the pain in his eyes.
I got in to retro collection too late, but still built a decent collection, through garage sales, friends and family storage rooms. I am more shocked now when I see people post they are going for a complete collection and they have 100 games, its not going to be cheap or easy, and at this point its less about the hunt or game chasing ( no offence Billy and Jay) but I think thats a thing of the past, at least where I live, now it pretty much swaps and retail stores. Again great pod cast, keep up the good work. Not so common is also really good. ~Jason B from Facebook
Congrats Pat. I am 37 and a Triple Rainbow would flow from my soul if I had the NES collection. I didn't go through your journey though so i can't compare to you but def treat it right and if it needs a new home please donate to someone worthy or start that MUSEUM
Hi Pat & Ian. Let me 1st mention that this is a great Channel with amazing content. How about now you play through the games, through and through. editing the footage until you beat the game and we watch the ending credits? And while you playing talk about about when & where you bought the game at & where you working @ the time??
I try to collect games Id A) like to play or B) find the cover art or something else like that interesting. Ive got a few small collections like the complete North American PS1 and PS2 shooter (not FPS but Sh'mup) library and the PS1 Working Designs library (not counting the Elemental Gearbolt Assassins case w/ gold Guncon) . Other than that I try to just buy what I like and dont really go for complete collections. Congrats on the collection Pat!!
Congratulations pat im actually trying to complete a game collection of games i actually want not a whole set but im really close to finishing my xbox 360 set only a 100 or so games left keep up the great work
its always a blast watching you two talk about ..... well anything honestly. congrats on finishing your set pat :p if u go to sell off some of your other games that you collected trying finding a way to incorporating them into a video before they go .... was just a thought always fun to get a use out of games you might not even use right :p anyway again great video guys keep up the good work.
Congratulations Pat! Also I think that when you started collecting it was a passionate hobby in your life and finding treasures made you happy, but now you have a lot more going on with a successfully published book, successful RUclips channel, and a successful podcast, so the collection is no longer the main source of happiness (not even to mention happiness in your personal life however much there is) and these last few games are just games. That's my impression anyway.
Congratulations, Pat! One thing I started doing with games sitting on my shelf that I wasn't actually playing is giving them away to people who had a higher likelihood of playing them. Of course your case is special in that you have a complete collection and you probably spent an enormous amount of time and money on it. I would suggest hanging on to them for now. Enjoy your accomplishment; bore your friends with it when they come over. And then when you see a video game museum pop up in your area, donate all of your boxed games. It would be a humongous endowment on your behalf, and may or may not be a significant tax deduction. If that doesn't float your boat, find a younger family member or friend who you know for a fact would be interested in them. Let them 'borrow' them one or two at a time, and just never request them back.
I've been collecting since I was 12, and was about to expand on video collection. But decided that I'm just going to stick to Nintendo, Sega, PlayStation and Xbox consoles/games. Also even though I reached a point were I lost a portion to of collection 2013 due to victim of theft. But I've still haven't given up on collecting video games, part that I love is the Artwork/Cover Designs when it comes to collecting games. Also if I did get to a point were I'd give up collection, I'd give up just the Cart games because I can always preserve those games though emulation and roms. Also I'd need to get the other Sega game consoles someday. Sorry for long post, but thought I would share too.
Someone buy me a Friendly's Peanut Butter Cup Sundae!

I hope one day you buy the NES Mahjong game and give it to Ian.
"I don't need Stadium Events to complete my collection." -Pat circa 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017
🤫
"And Alexander looked upon his kingdom and wept, for he knew there were no more worlds to conquer."
Just do it like Ghost N’ Goblins after you win the first time. You have to collect it again!
That sounds evil lol.
I couldn't even imagine to restart a collection that size 😕
Its not the destination its the journey Pat.
Totally went back and rewatched the Ian returns goldberg video XD
Just search "Ian Returns" and its the second video titled "Ian Update, Nintendo Switch Launch, PewDiePie - #CUPodcast" XD
I like how even Pat, triumphant in completing this major life goal is forced to look back on the empty futility of his achievement....very deep and ultimately tragic.
Congrats Pat!!! I thought you had the full set for years now.

Awesome now you have to beat the whole NES collection.
that would be hell... but a fun journey!
"How Pat got Stadium Events" sounds like a great movie idea to me.
Congratulations bro !!!!!! That's rare and hard as HELL. So it didn't fill the hole in his heart?
Classic case of it's the journey, not the destination.
That's life
Are we not going to get the Stadium Events story?
Also, I have a suspicion that Pat got engaged recently.
Congrats Pat! Collecting is like the Mafia. Just when you think you are out, they pull you back in!
Congrats
Getting a Retropie has killed my desire to continue collecting games and to play games on original hardware. Convenience triumphed over nostalgia.
saves money for other things
I've done similar collecting in sportscards. Spent over a decade building two different sets and, when you're done, you don't even know what to think. Prices of common games are slowly going up tho. At least for the good ones. There is no more supply and still demand for them.
Patrizio, you're an 80s kid. You should know that nothing emphasizes a moment of triumph more than a power ballad and a montage. That's deep, man.
J C, still, he apperantly likes the 80s more.
Lalo exactly right. There's a reason he's the NES punk and not the SNES punk or the Genesis punk or the turbo Grafx 16 punk
That's not uncommon to feel that way after completing a collection. When I finished my Amazing Spider-Man collection I just moved on to Fantastic Four. No fan fare no celebrations just moving on to the next adventure.
What a waste of life.

1969ChargerRTSE I don't know what you mean, I wasn't having any difficulty deciding between two or more things.
I'm so glad I watched this video til the very end. That was great. Lol
Only 100 good NES games? Man, I have to rewrite the book then.
I agree with you. I feel like it's a bit ridiculous to perhaps pay out of the ass prices for some mediocre game you're probably just going to shelf and let it collect dust.
Then you don't really understand then.
Five Minute Gaming oh I do. But just remember that game collecting does not automatically mean *get every single game that was ever made for this thing*.
That's not how it works for some people, some people build a collection of stuff they like, not stuff they *need* just for completion's sake.
Nicholas Harron Hey, Nick. Is there ANYTHING you have ever wanted in your entire life that you have never been able to get?
Congratulations Pat the NES Punk, I have been collecting for years and unfortunately will never be able to amass a huge collection like that...it is awesome to see someone get some closure on a hobby
"Empty"... in a haunting whisper... Quote Ian. LOL. Aww. Jaded to games. I feel the same wiith my emulated shit, didnt think it would happen with hard copies. :(
Pat the Famicom Panku?
LOL, I loved when Pat started getting crazy and Ian had to calm him.
Nicely done Pat! I would've liked to hear that story of how you got the last two games, but oh well.
Pat the SNES Punk?
pat the famicom disk otaku?
Pat the SMS Punk
Pat the Amiga punk
Pat the Tiger Electronic Wristwatch Punk?
Pat the Steam Punk. Collecting games, badges an achivements for eternity!
I don't collect, but I know plenty of collectors, and have the fun is always "the chase". It's not just the having, but talking about the act of collecting with other collectors, and hunting down more.

I might of missed it, your collection is all complete box and maual?
CONGRATS! Pat
Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment! :)
hahaha.... Pat got his hole filled ....
Congratulations Pat that is an amazing achievement!
The Last Gamer called, he said "that's cute"
Not bad man,I just mine Super NT ,It's freakin cool Congrats on your nes collection it's hard now and days to collect many retro games
Congrats Pat! That's a great feat, I can only imagine the determination. But just for future reference Mexico is also NA :D
Any mexican exclusives you know about?
supercrapnstuff11 Cesar Chavez Mexicana Adventure 1989. It's basically a Mario clone with tacos instead of mushrooms.
Mexico is central america, IIRC.
angel bousono you recall incorrectly, just google it. I live here, I think I'd know.
supercrapnstuff11 yeah, the Chrono Trigger cartridge was made exclusively in Mexico... Read up on it.
End of an era. Congratulations Pat
I'm sad we don't get to see the collection during the podcast anymore, so I'll have to imagine.
If you need a new hobby, have you ever considered piracy? You'd make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts.
Agreed. The Silk Road needs enterprising gentlemen such as pat.
good for your Pat I'm glad you finally finished and I'll tell you why 1: it shows that you are capable of completing a task even if it takes a while which says something about you and it is definitely a good thing sense too many people start things and don't finish 2: the second reason being that your path to maturity was this collection and not the completing of it but having it be something you do as opposed to something that consumes you which too many collectors fall into that particular trap so good for you and good luck on all future projects
I wish my pursuit of collecting money, would come to an end!
What were the last games you needed to complete it? You guys seem to be dancing around it...
I know for a long time Pat needed the Panesian porno games. Idk if he counts them toward a full NTSC collection tho
wasn't stadium events one of the last ones he needed?
It was the journey that was memorable.
Closure isn’t always easy. 👍
🖖
That's awesome Pat, good work!
I think you guys are right about the growing up thing. I've never been the biggest collector of games myself, but I have held on to almost everything I've bought for my game systems since forever. Congrats Pat. I felt the same way when I finished my Transformers statue collection.
It wasn't 20+ years though, more like 10+.
All but three systems could go for me as well, but what's important will stay, so same train of thought for me
@user name no those 3 Don't change, stop smoking crack and getting serious about life.
Congrats Pat! Good luck on your next complete collection. Have you thought about focusing on merch or is that just “as it comes”?
When I finished my Super Powers collection (all American figures Moc, all vehicles Mib), I happened to hit 40. Bittersweet is exactly how I would describe it.
Hey.. congratulations man. I know life moves in different places but still a nice thing to celebrate! Wouldn't mind seeing a video with your last two games that you needed and doing a review or what not. Great stuff.
Congrats, Pats
I love my Super NT. It's fantastic.
This is awesome! I would love to see it in its entirety. My question is how did you acquire Stadium Events? And what was the last game you needed?
Did he ever answer this
Congratulations Pat!
congrats Pat.
Love the show gents

megasquals fun game, but it's NES PAL.
So what? It is part of the NES as well, regardless where it was released. :P
I bet he still misses 3000+ games.

Pat this is great but you should continue de NES Punk series as was done before, those were hilarious!! Congrats on completing your collection!

I am 37 and a Triple Rainbow would flow from my soul if I had the NES collection. I didn't go through your journey though so i can't compare to you but def treat it right and if it needs a new home please donate to someone worthy or start that MUSEUM
Thanks Bud!
Congrats bro!
Hard mode: sell them all and start from scratch.
BitHead1000 does it all the time!

Congrats Pat.
its always a blast watching you two talk about ..... well anything honestly. congrats on finishing your set pat :p if u go to sell off some of your other games that you collected trying finding a way to incorporating them into a video before they go .... was just a thought always fun to get a use out of games you might not even use right :p anyway again great video guys keep up the good work.
Nicely done!
Of course Pat takes over 13 minutes to talk about himself ;)
So help Bithead1000 with his NES Collection!
@@wilsvgaddiction4456 "Anyone know who did Bobby Lupo?"
I said "Empty" at the same time Ian did, LMAO
But hey, Pat's pretty much one of the very few living NES Gods there is. He has finally ascended.
I thought you finished your collection years ago!
And you really bought Stadium Events after everything you said about it?! :P
I'll never finish collecting anything, I'll just have tons of random stuff
Will that’s called hoarding
skinflutey kinda true
Daniel-son! You have to *focus*!
And now we get to see Pat's final form!
It doesn’t count that you’ve stopped collecting once you have all the games
