I have another way to solve the 5-point buggered up issue. I learned it from Woodchuck Russ The Deck Dr and it does work. I got in a push mower with the blade tightened down but not aligned on the adapter because the adapter points were swaged off slightly. Use a small drift or cold chisel and hammer and carefully tap the sides of each point back into shape again until you can fit the blade back on correctly. I did this on the mower on the ground tipped on its side but you could certainly remove the adapter and do it in a vice. Only took me less than 5 minutes because the adapter wasn’t real bad.
For me this saved the time and money of having to source a new adapter so I could get the mower back to the customer faster. Worked perfectly!
