    It is not " out of our reach" because it is the Lord Who comes and knocks at our door. If we open His Wisdom does guide us IF we trust and love His Love for us. You are very young still Father. We are called by the Lord to become our unique self in and with and for Him and our neighabour. That is learned through the Mystery of His Love and our humility, over Time...a true journey to become who we truly are.
    I agree with you that it cannot be learned from books..they may help..but this is totally the Holy Spirit living in each heart. A Huge and often painful Adventure to discover and recover your life in Christ and its not anything we can guess about. Courage! Go ! follow Him within your soul in all joy and love and tears.
    Ljchmom.

    Excellent message, presuming the spiritual father is trustworthy. Too many stories of abuse and malpractice. Heartbreaking that it has to be so, but the faithful should be warned about that danger.

    • @ProtectingVeil
      @ProtectingVeil  3 года назад +6

      Alas...yes, this presupposes a great deal of trust. I try to remind people that authentic Christian spiritual life never subverts one's free will. Abusive relationships always subvert one's free will...life in Christ should be full of light and spiritual oxygen.

    This was both good and, on a certain level, discouraging because of what seems to be a major dearth of spiritual fathers in America. And it seems like many priests are struggling to keep up with all that is asked and required of them already.

    • @ProtectingVeil
      @ProtectingVeil  3 года назад +10

      I sympathize...that said, (as one example) according to St. Sophrony, St. Silouan did not have a formal spiritual father...he simply confessed to the monastery's confessor and was in obedience to the abbot. St. Sophrony's bigger point is that God blesses one's obedience and can use nearly any confessor priest as a vessel of grace (regardless of the personal virtue of the priest). It's certainly better to have an experienced spiritual father, but God does not abandon us, if we seek Him earnestly...

    • @ProtectingVeil
      @ProtectingVeil  8 месяцев назад +1

      Who else could hear Confession? Only certain priests have been given the authority to absolve sin in Christ's name. There are extremely rare occasions where holy people (such as St. Silouan the Athonite) take *something* of the role of spiritual guide, but even St. Silouan couldn't offer absolution.

      @@ProtectingVeil thank you. Is it recommended or supported to have a 1on1 relationship with Jesus? The orthodox perspective. I'm asking because I don't know anyone here in Greece who has one and I see many Christians in America for example Cultivating one, talking to Jesus all day long.

    Is important to separate spirit from the soul?

    “ To cut off our understanding”? Are you talking about the spiritual life of a monk or a regular layman, Father? Unfortunately, there are so many priests who should not been ordained. Who has a real spiritual father these days? Matthew 15:14.

    💚Good people of all religions must understand that other religions are just other approaches for people to get over themselves. The woke people that we have to live with are 80% selfish ego defilement, delusion and maybe 20% truth. This is what happens when you have no means to get over yourself, like worshiping God.
    The teaching in the video above about abstraction sounds in harmony with the teaching of the Buddha that isn’t personally Jesus’s approach but it is Jesus’s teaching at the level of human wisdom.
    Instead of God in Buddhism they train their minds to transcend abstraction so that they can humble themselves as the very abstraction of “self” is let go of. It could be said that God is moving through them when they transcend the concept of “self” or “ego”. People mistake Buddhism for narcissism or something, BOY is that ever wrong.
