Shoutout to Joe editing these vids in the hotel while Paul drools over the new products.
You're a hero.
thanks dude!
Gigabyte! Home of the backdoored motherboards!
Sad but true apparently 😢
Yea the fact that the BIOS has a setting to potentionally auto install random crap on windows is pretty pretty bad
Asus has that armory crate install "feature" in their bios. I wonder if it's as insecure. We probably haven't heard the last of this.
@@dkman123 I read that ASUS armoury bloatware is likely also at risk due to the same way it functions. Not sure tho.
@@OGruurd I wonder if youre still effected if you run linux instead of windows. unless its embedded into the UEFI
Really nice new tech this year, and great coverage Paul, also Joe is killing it on the editing, he needs to go out and have a great night, dinner, drinks. Would love to see a small clip with other techtuber friends at dinner or something. Love it when you guys come together. much love!
I've come to appreciate Gigabyte boards over the PCIe options & layouts. They always seem to have the extra PCIe slot or the better split up lanes compared to the competition. When strapped for PCIe lanes they do things like put both a PCIe slot and and M.2 and give you the choice of which one you want to use. (you don't need to shell out more money for exotic adapters!) For building budget server builds this is amazing and has allowed me to retire my old desktop builds to unraid servers.
Glad you've asked. Gigabyte should add small monitors on the back of their monitors, just in case.
😂
How about back doors on their monitors which allow them to push firmware updates without your knowledge or consent?
I guess it's no secret at this point that any new processors that may be released this year by intel will be refreshes of the existing 13th gen series, and as such will not rate a full number upgrade of motherboards, so no z890 this year.
yes exaclty what i thaught , they gonna release new chips soon
Intel Raptor Lake refresh will reach nearly 6.5GHz and dissipate 500W+. Mobo makers are equally making refreshed Z790.
Ya.... been said by MANY RESPONSIBLE casters and JOURNALISTS already, so the "coy" play, ... just sad...
@@tringuyen7519 The refresh is supposed to use less power and run cooler, already been said. There is no way it will even hit 400w, you're crazy.
@@warpedphreak probably just being overly careful about NDA
Paul, thanks for going to Computex 2023 for us. I've watched so many videos about the show I feel I was your companion. Concerning monitors in general. I've owned many monitors over the years. My initial monitors were CRT type. Two features on my later monitors were the placement of the I/O panel and the location of the monitors' controls. Both were easy to see and use. The monitor controls were placed at the front, and some were at the front right side of the housing. They were easy to see and use, with some using LEDs to provide lighting for the control buttons. Today, the monitor makers try to hide the I/O ports and control buttons. To my way of thinking, it's like playing a game of hide-and-seek. These new monitors have gone one step forward and two steps backward. Imagine owning a car with an instrument panel placed underneath the car's dash.
I LOVE that they figured out to leave the two bottom slots open. I have a 3.5 slot 4090 which needs a new system, and I like having an extra pci-e slot or two available. (I'd like to see a 4k display between 34" and 40")
The Reddot Award is not really an Award. You can literally by the "Award"
Really liking the coverage this week Paul. Thanks!
Leave pc gaming it's trash move on to consoles or cloud gaming instead
0:56 I hope they make an AM5 version of this motherboard. A Gigabyte X770 Extreme Aorus Xtreme X will be perfect for my meme build, featuring a Ryzen 7 7700X, an XFX RX 7700 XT, and RAM clocked at 7700 MHz. I haven't decided on an SSD, but I'm sure there's one out there with an adequate number of Xs and 7s in the name.
We need more simpler motherboards that dont have a bunch of dumb things on them so they are cheaper. Not every motherboard needs RGB, LCD screens, IO shrouds, built in IO shield, metal PCIE slots, Gen 5 PCIE slots when we dont Gen 5 PCIE consumer cards yet. A quality motherboard without all the gimmicks at a decent price would very popular right now.
Super grateful for your sponsors and you taking the time to go out and show us new hotness.
More delightful coverage guys.. that angular case was quite nice, and I perish to think how much the X EXTREME X XX-XXX boards will be.. (X).. also it was very nice of them to put a bean bag out!
It confirms Raptor Lake refresh and no meteor lake probably.
Motherboard refresh in time for Intel's 14th Gen CPUs? They look nice and I bet the price will also be hiked again!
Leave pc gaming it's trash move on to consoles or cloud gaming instead.
Folks are mum at computex regarding 14th gen. Sounds like a gap year
Not sure what the naming will be but I'm curious to see how they will perform. 6.8p/5.0e/5.4ring with 10,000+mts DDR5 with a dab of extra cache would be amazing!
@@Noob._gamer Ok, we got you
A video screen on a motherboard. Now that just screams "I don't care how useless it is, I have more money than brains and I have to have it!"
Right?! The only thing I want generating light in my field of vision when I'm using my computer is its monitor and a 7-segment post code display on its motherboard, and I only want the post codes to be visible when I open its case. I even put electrical tape over the indicator lights on my cable modem and router.
I would buy it but I dont have the money to buy it, lol.
In saying that I do have a 7" LCD screen inside my case, I would assume it is cheaper to go that route instead of buying a motherboard with a built in screen.
you can reputedly feel the bionic shock down to your prostate gland - reputedly
so that the newest latest backdoor you dont know about can come to you in september?
I would love to see them make more 4k OLED monitors that have different sizes and with different features built in for gaming in mind.
4k is pointless at small sizes.
@@drunkhusband6257 I said different sizes, not necessarily small. As in 38" on up.
@@toddhudson9653 We already have 42, and 48 inch monitors so I don't know what you need exactly.
@@drunkhusband6257 i disagree 4k is pointless for small sizes - smaller size is absolutely essential when you're using it as monitor and not a tv, where you sit right up near it on the desk, maybe a foot away.... 34inch would be perfect, maybe 27inch for anyone particularly susceptible to lower PPI. also noticeable graphics improvement from 1440p when gaming.
@@whiskizyo2067 I had a 27" 4k monitor, went to a 3440x1440 ultrawide. 4k isn't worth it
if they are listening for display : my dream dispaly is flat, 4k, 120Hz (or more), 27" and with godd HDR (VESA HDR 600 or 1000)
There's a lot of ultra wide, or curved screen, or big 32" screen, but not a lot of 4k hdr flat 27"
The only screen close to thoses criteria, with a good local dimming and black uniformity score on RTINGS is the Tempest GP27U and I would love to see some more options
Thanks for covering all this good stuff at computex. Hope you enjoy a nice beer while your there.
Are those Gigabyte mb come with backdoors included ?

Thanks Paul For this Video.... Many many years Ago My First Laptop was a Gigabyte.
Interesting stuff. I wonder how expensive those mobos will be? Will 4 x M.2 NVME drives all run at full speed
do they still have the malware-ish bios/firmwares?
The picture on that monitor looks really great even in your video.
Won't that big gen 5 m.2 heatsink interfere with the gpu?
Uhh i wish some would make z790 with qcode and ddr4. Have a nice trip down there !
I have a Gigabyte Z790 and after power-off/power-on (even for just 1 second) getting it to boot again usually takes HOURS, it either hangs on 'boot' indicator light or all lights go off but nothing happens. Unplugging SATA drives and all USB devices seems to help after rebooting over and over again for ~30 minutes.
Something is very wrong with your system. Perhaps mobo, CPU, or PSU.
Thanks to Paul, his crew, and their sponsors for bring us this content. Hopefully Paul & crew have enough time to see the sights, and enjoy some great food and beer. Cheers!
does it come with a free backdoor
The reason is 14th gen is going to be a raptor lake refresh with serious power requirements. Yw.
He knows, he just can't say it for fear of "breaking" his NDA on the chips.
All I want is a 32" 4k/144hz OLED with a VESA mount, won't be cheap but IF I go 4k or OLED I want both
All monitors should have a vesa mount now. It's insane that some don't have that.
that heatsink is mental
Out of all the OEMs out there, AORUS is definitely my favorited. I love my mostly AORUS rig.
I run on Aorus, love the board 🙂 Hmm, doesn't Intel usually announce its new chips in September...
So - what speeds and what capacity am i able to run in my Z790 Aorus Master? I'm running 2x32Gb 5600 DDR5 now, waiting for some swift 96-128Gb solution for the long term... but if they bring a new MB for higher speeds it may look like i am SOL here....
September, hmm sounds like a Raptor Lake Refresh
The gigabyte z790 master has a bios update for this backdoor issue....has anyone installed this bios update?
Tech Yes City and few others at computex have said that it maybe for the upcoming intel 14 gen cpus. There are reports that it will support the current gen of mobos so minor improvements and an addition of wifi7
why does the usb on my auros b550 drop out and make my mouse stutter?
The giant LCD on the motherboard is really cool, I also liked the Oled monitor, but 48 inches is too big, I wanted something around 32 inches Oled to use on the PC. 👑
Will the new intel cpu refresh be supported on old z690 boards
I wonder if their new boards are for the 13th gen refresh that keeps being hinted at.
Maybe Intel is sticking with the socket, and not requiring a chipset update?
Correct
This will be a simple refresh, like Devil's Canyon.
@FastSloth87 well not so simple...afaik meteor lakes igpu is way faster
Monitor vs TV. Some manufacturers will use words like monitor, display or even theater display when there is no TV Tuner built-in. Awesome coverage of Computex!
i just made a new system with an asrock z690 because the all the z790 boards did not impress me much. and so i look forward to seeing the new z790 boards when they come out, especially since i can get the new gskill royal ddr5 mems that i couldn't get so i stayed with ddr4 because they just look phenomenal. things are looking up.
Late September launch? For cyber Monday in November. Not necessarily for this sku though.
Gigabyte motherboards have always interested me since the B450 era. I always thought they looked very nice but i also always heard bad stuff about their bios and rgb software, hopefully one day ill be able to try their products and see for myself
their rgb software is one of the worst. I have an aorus motherboard. The whites of their rgb is way off. Aside from that, everything else is better price wise compared to let's say asus.
The z790 aorus master was my first gigabyte board and it was a very smooth experience. Ill totally be going with them in the future they are a expensive though
PCIE5 storage cooling are going thicc. Interesting ways manufacturers are doing cooling solutions
5:20 Wtf why HDMI on the front panel I/O?
Wait and see for reviews, always remember to wait... 😂
Leave pc gaming it's trash move on to consoles or cloud gaming instead
Looking at all those RGB motherboards and remembering how I recently spent 15 minutes working out how to shut them off on my Z790 Hero.
I just want to go to bed without rgb shining against my eye lids
@@sirmongoose Yeah. It’s one thing to have all the nice shinies and flashies when your PC is on but who the hec thinks it’s a good idea to have those on when it’s powered down!

They should do a color calibrated ultra wide free sync monitor
Z790 Refresh is 14th gen ready i believe... don't quote me tho.
i just hope that the old z790 boards will support the 14th gen cpu with bios update
Why are most motherboards makers still making a rookie mistake by placing their top gen5 NVME slot so close to the top PCIe5 slot? Gen5 SSDs need really TALL heatsinks, and there are an increasing number of GPUs that are taller, like if they have an active water cooling backplate, so NONE of those motherboards would be usable in a lot of scenarios. All they need to do is move the PCIe5 top slot about an inch lower down the board so there is no physical overlap for top end hardware. Many people, like my, don't want a riser cable.
7:48
Imagine smoking a joint there
refreshed z790 boards eh? 14900K here we come.
I enjoyed the shorter format
That OLED Monitor is cool!
Wish there be thunderbolt 4 port in new middle end boards.
They are making boards out there that have the connection in the back, why not make one that has that as well a making the m.2 slots on the back as well and easily accessible? Maybe?
Is it because Gigabyte's previous 790's and about a few hundred other Gigabyte mobo models are compromised and have hidden firmware backdoors which download and install hidden executable files. Some AMD boards are also on the list of over 100 mobos which contain this vulnerability. Great coverage of the latest news Paul.
Is it really "really thin" if only 1 4th of the monitor is thin and the rest of it is chunky?
3 of those oled screens would be great for simracing.
Hopefully the top M.2 Gen5 slot isn't shairing PCIe s lanes with the PCIe x16 slot like the og Aorus Master, hurts my lil brain that Intel does this with the Z790 boards.
why not! thanks Paul
these are the guys that had millions of hackable uefi bios boards
oh joy
14th gen is going to be better version of Raptor Lake which will be the third generation of CPUs to use the LGA 1700 socket along with 12th and 13th gen.
didnt someone have a bionic shark pc at a computex a year ago?
27 inch version Same Specs ?
I’d like to know more about the new people you are meeting there
The new 790s are probably going to come with LGA 1851 sockets, rather than LGA 1700 sockets, at least for the Team Blue mobos.
16:9 27inch 4k OLED monitor @138hz-165hz would be great
32in for me
They need to fix the Z690 and Gen4 SSD errors!
Love me some Gigabyte MB's. My goto
If I am only a really profesional 3d modelling blender artist right now. That z790 xtreme x will be my god damn target I swear to god
I think those boards are for the 14900KS3D
Raptor Lake Refresh incoming..
Love the idea of a 36-42" monitor in 16:9. Quality panels, high refresh rates and low latency are always highest priority. OLED is nice, but not necessary. Biggest issue is getting decent performance at reasonable pricing. Most people aren't looking for $500-1000 monitors.
Thank you, Paul...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
Next motherboards will be xtreme xx
Curved ultra wides or curved 38" or even bigger.
Will Asus be making any refreshed boards? Will their Z790 Extreme be making a comeback?
Derbau8er done a video a while ago that showed a intel board saying it was socket 1700/1800 so maybe intel is finally not changing boards so dang much now
Leave pc gaming it's trash move on to consoles or cloud gaming instead
As far ss boards go, they are getting a refresh because as stated Intel, and perhaps AMD but i know Intel is only doing a refresh if the 13th generation, and sockets have to be made to except more power, if you can cool it, they will buy it, but dang they suck enough juice already, maybe they are just trying to keep their name relatively relevant, who knows, also i think a few board models are being stripped down bling wise and keeping functional aspect, and are supposed to sell in the 100 to 120 to 150 range. That is nice to see if true.
I've always had a gigabyte MB and I ALWAYS hear in game footsteps better than every1 I play with. it's so much better I don't even wanna brag like it's my secret!
14th gen is confirmed to be working on z790
But how much better then 13th gen? Maybe only 12th gen users would be worth it?
@@Bloodsack1 In socket upgrades are never worth it. Wait for the new platform and 15th gen.
Can you confirm when they will go on sale? Or will it be in 2024???
It's a 48" monitor, TVs have tuners built in
hopefully their Newer monitors last for more than a year, Cuz I had an Aorus Monitor die on me 2 years ago.
Cuando salen a la ventaaa y mos precios aish
good job Joe
Thanks Paul!
OK, so when do the CURRENT Z790's go on sale??? Cuz I need one.
I've built two Aorus Master X570 PCs and a sideways upgrade, Aorus Master X570S paired with a 5800X3D. The two X570 PCs are paired with the 5800X. Why the 5800X3D versus a 13700 or the 7800X3D? No thunderbolt support on AM5 and no USB 4.0 until the $500+ MB price point. X570 supports TB 3.0. MB, RAM and CPU price difference of $550 and up. For what I do and play, it turns out the 5800X3D was NOT an upgrade over the 5800X. Going from an EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 (which does 4K just fine TY very much) to an AMD 6900XT to a PowerColor 7900XTX showed the biggest visual and performance upgrade. One of my grandkids got my 1080Ti and a cousin got my 6900XT. He was able to go from 1080P with his X-99-A PC to 4k by swapping out GPUs.
My guess on the new motherboards is a Raptor Lake refresh coming in the Fall...but isn't that public knowledge already?
I'm so excited for more OLED monitors but I want 16:10 or 1600p monitors.
Also the shark skin fans look like a pain to clean.
