I didn't expect to be able to get through these at basically the same pace as old sunder, heh. Of course when it's primarily a focus on survival instead of some time goal it evens out a bit. And yeah I have to admit I used to think the crusher maze was one of the worst parts in sunder, but now the combination of having to be aware of the crushers and trying to get through quickly while knowing how to manage ammo makes it a enjoyable fight to me. Then again most people might only play it once :D And as for the little things missed during testing... I've got some very interesting strategies for one of the upcoming levels :)

One of the things I love about Sunder and mapsets like it is how utterly gargantuan and cavernous its maps can feel. Like this one really feels like hell's biggest library. Even modern triple A games can't match this for sheer scale.
Yeah it's fucking menacing. Makes you feel so tiny in a bizarre world of strange hellish (or even more otherworldly) constructions. It's such a deep art and I hope insanegazebo never stops creating these maps. My all-time favorites are maps 09, 10, 11, 15, 31, 17, 18, 19, 20 which all belong to the most epic gaming experiences I've ever had.
The verticality in this map is incredible - it feels like the space is truly colossal and could keep extending out of sight forever. It's a clever gag to start the player off outdoors, and then once they finally finish the first fight, to reveal how the archives are on a scale that utterly eclipses the canyon you started in.
27:35 since we never see any of your fails in the super optimized runs of short maps, its just funny to see how you took the time to shoot the wall after the failed jump

I just sat down to have coffee to rewatch 31 & then 16 (Thinking no way 17 is out yet this wonderful Saturday morning) but then in the bottom corner of the browser window under the video, I happen to see the words "DOOM, Sunder, Map 17" 👀 _CLICK ON THE VIDEO_ 🤣 Damn dude. GG ZM. I can't say enough how enjoyable it's been watching you work so to speak. The strategies you execute are things myself as a mortal Doomer wouldn't conceive yet. I'm just not on that level of figuring things out, so it's genuinely fun watching these maps being played completely differently than most other times I've watched them be run. 👍

It shows that even high skilled players can make errors and that everything can not always go as planned by the runner. It's almost reassuring in a way, it reminds us that you are human after all ! Anyway, another great run ! You said you wouldn't publish demos as often as when you did Old Sunder, but actually you're quite fast at conquering New Sunder ! And I'm very happy with that, always a pleasure to see one of your demos uploaded. Thanks a lot for all your efforts !
I have to say, I like Zero Master's Doom runs the best! I like how there's actually a strategy to the gameplay, especially taking calculated advantage of the infighting to help wipe all the enemies out. Anyway great job!!!
I remember feeling very bittersweet when Zero Master posted the final old Sunder map UV Max record since it was an awesome accomplishment to watch, but I knew new Sunder would be too much. I have now learned to never, ever doubt the doomgod Zero Master again! We aren't worthy!
I was stuck on the crusher maze for days now until I found out the best way to deal with it is just running straight to the other corner where the yellow key is located. After that it only took me a couple attempts. I'm glad I did not spoil the strategy for myself by watching this video first haha. I don't like resorting to extensive savescumming or looking up other players' strats. GG.

This is the only map I have ever seen just completely break Decino's will to play. I do think things would have went differently if he had started this map fresh though. Hard to focus after 7+ hours of streaming these maps. The fatigue alone makes it hard not to go full tilt when you run into a wall like he did at the crusher section.
The final battle was interesting as you had about 2000 enemies to go and 20 minutes to kill them I'm going to put this out there, nobody is doing a UV max movie of the completed WAD. At this rate it would (literally) take all day
The last part of the map is really the best and most challenging. What it needs though is to have some shotgun dudes or pinkys to spawn every once in a while behind the player at the edge of the map where he was funelling them to make it more intense and/or add some Archvilles in the mix to make it pointless to stay in that place.
10 minutes ago, I was also playing this map but with IDDQD enabled. What is even happening ZM, you keep on maxing these behemoth of maps in a matter of couple of days.
On this map he just told about the crashers room that has lack of health and random crasher, and even you cannot pass it. But now on your video you proved us it like a bullshit.
This map did in fact break Decino. Should probably be noted though that his attempts on this map were after he had already been streaming for like 7+ hours straight on the previous maps. I am sure fatigue played a bit of a role in Decino's mental state falling apart at the crusher section.

Right off the bat how did you keep the barriers from rising (which would prevent you from re-entering the safe start area) after picking up the Plasma riffle in the very first fight?
the edge of the platform have linedefs that close the barriers, if doomguys center is close to the linedef and moves over 16 units per tic than the linedef will not be activated as the 32x32 unit box never overlaps with the linedef after crossing it. So in this case I use a specific angle, use the fastest movement technique called SR50 and run along the block so that I get both the correct position (getting close to the linedef without crossing it) and having enough speed (at least 16 units per tic) while doing it on both of the linedefs.

Hey ZM, just a question. At around 0:36 you do a certain linedef skip which I absolutely don't understand how you did that. I figured the bars of that arena are closing when walking across the first step of the plasma gun pedestal. But crossing the highest linedef of that platform makes the enemies spawn in. How in the freaking world were you able to skip that linedef that closes the arena but still start the fight? I know this isn't even that hard of a fight to be cheesed but that skip still amazed me a lot.

One thing i like about these maps is not only the complexity, but the height of the maps too, they truly do look massive.

Zero Master really is on an almost inhuman level of skill when it comes to Doom. It's incredible really.
