Eren forced them without any discussion whatsoever. And now a lot of Scouts died for it. Gabi and Falco are very interesting characters for this story though. They only got introduced for this final run but I feel like they're almost as important as the older characters. Gabi is definitely a reflection of young Eren. But this time, there's Falco beside him who, in contrast, is a very empathetic boy. Gabi's character arc is some of the most interesting in this season.
Gabbie is an exact parallel to young Eren in season 1. So full of rage and hatred, questioning why her friends and family had to die in such a brutal and spontaneous attack, and not being able to accept that reality.
I love how S4 is currently a reflection of what happened in S1, the things they were taught to hate outside their home are taking away a lot, if not all the things they love in one tragic day. Eren appearing from behind the stage and starting the chaos is pretty much equivalent to Birmingsnort's Collosal Titan kicking a hole through Wall Maria!

Eren has been reminded of this time and time again, and used it to his advantage, for personal profit. He stole the Warhammer titan, and ensured a guaranteed war by attacking Willy Tybur.
The number one rule of Attack on Titan is… you must watch it a second time. There’s such little things like a random character who in season 2 or three (can’t remember exactly) said, “why did I do that” while looking confused at his own actions. I could’ve never understood nor caught such little details if I didn’t watch a second time and it makes so much more sense now. The writing in this show is just at a level never seen before. You can seriously start watching it all over again and you’ll be like… woah! That makes so much sense now.
Some of my favorite details in this show is understanding how the world building is done. There's a reason why the gang (especially Hange) were freaked out about Onion-capone skin colour. They were so closed from the world that they were left in the dark ages. There was also the part where the gang returns to Shiganshina and Armin doesn't know what coffee is (he thought it was some sort of black tea). Even the presence of the Beast Titan, they call it that because they have no idea what a monkey is. Such a great show!
Sasha was supposed to die early in the story in like season 2, but when the author told his editor he cried himself in the bathroom until Isayama gave in to keep her alive for long
The details are a little blurry but it is true shasha was supposed to die in S2 protection that girl in the village but isayama decided to not kill her there.

They were mad at eren and blamed him cuz they didn't want to fight anyone, eren just said in his letters that he would go to war even if they were comin or not, so they had no choice but to protect the founder. I wanted to weigh in on some points that were made. The reason why the scouts are upset is because Eren went rogue and acted on his own accord, forcing the Eldians into battle. They could've ignored Eren's letters ya. But that doesn't change the fact that what Eren planned involved the entirety of Eldians as he was in Marley to declare war. And since Eren has the power to do that, the scouts are forced to support him because of the path he chose. Basically what he sent to them was, "I'm going to declare war in the name of Eldia, up to you if guys if you want to help me or not." But overall, I love this show so much.

If his intension was to declare war he would have stroke before Willy explained how the war got to an end and made the world join forces after willy's speech. He simple was there and waited in hopes his "gut feeling " would not turn out to be true. Thats why he got triggered by Willy's "blablabla ..born into this world" willy declares war. "reiner we really are the same" "transform, eats willy.
Willy's declaration of war is through words. Eren's declaration of war is through actions. Sadly, international law states that the only time a state is allowed to retaliate (if that's what eren did from your perspective) is when they've been attacked. :( In this case, Eren is the first one to attack. Actions matter more than words, because words sometimes don't have weight. Though Willy's words were legitimate, Eren's response was heavier. If you search rules of retaliation in war, it shows that retaliation should be equal to the attack and must only be directed at military not civilians. Eren's actions did not meet that standards. But who cares about humantarian law right?

Reminder: Grisha Jaeger and Dina Fritz (Smiling Titan) birthed Zeke. Remember the 1st half of season 3 was all about the royals and getting Historia/Christa on the throne. Zeke has royal blood, whenever royalty has the Founding Titan, King Fritz' will - the king who established the walls on the island - erases the memories of those citizens there, this is why Grisha..as the Attack Titan killed that family and consumed the Founding Titan. Another note, because the Smiling Titan was Dina, remember some sort of titan lightning happened when Eren punched Dina's hand and those titans attacked Dina. That same lightning happened when Eren kissed Christa's hand when she accepted the throne.

A bit of dark humor, but I loved Commander Magath face-palming after Eren juices the Warhammer and starts percussion-pounding/tenderizing the Jaw face-first into the ground. Dude's def not having his best day. WRT Eren eating the Jaw, he'd have to fight Reiner to get him back, and Eren said he's out of strength. Out of gas. Tired. Finished. Done. No more to give. So, the fight's over, and time to run away.
The reason Eren didn't stay to take the Jaw was because he was exhausted. Remember transforming into a Titan takes a whole lot of energy. Actually until now he never transformed a second time, cause he wasn't capable. Here he transformed 3 or 4 times. So he had a way out and he was out of energy

Reiner manager to grab the jaw Titan away. Eren had already turned into a Titan 3 times, he's completely drained and can't fight anymore. Also, Eren forced their hand, Levy and everyone. They couldn't just ignore the letters and leave Eren to be taken by Marley. He was pretty much blackmailing them and force their hand.
I think this is where the controversial opinions on Attack on Titan start. I remember watching these few episodes (4x5 - 4x8) and being absolutely horrified at the sight of our main guys slaughtering the Marleyans. Obviously it's not like Marley as a whole is innocent. However the show has stated time and time again just how horrific war is and how no one wants to kill other humans (or at least shouldn't want to). And now? We're watching the scouts massacre civilians and soldiers without a second thought. Floch is even celebrating "The new eldian empire". I've always been confused by people hating on Gabi for Sascha's death or cheering for the jaw titan to be eaten. At that particular point, I couldn't help but agree with Levi and resent Eren for forcing this attack. What I'm trying to say is, it's really fascinating to see how all of us with our own experiences and ifluences we've grown up with and encountered throughout life react so vastly different to the story coming full circle. Looking forward to the next episodes, because it doesn't really slow down from here!

Just so you know, Eren already transformed so many times before Reiner pops. He might not look like it, but he was definitely out of gas too. Some audience even noticed how he rushed every fight whenever he transformed since it's very uncommon for them to transform multiple times in one battle and Eren already had 3 transformations. He cannot eat them in human form and the Marley troops may regroup anytime. Notice how Levi looks at his watch, they can only stay for a quick raid and need to retreat to the airship immediately - Hange even mentioned "any stragglers will be out of their luck".
Eren holds the power of the Founding titan and is like the King piece on a chess board. If they lose him, they lose the game. The scouts had pretty much no choice other than to rescue him. So, in a way, Eren forced their hand and dragged them into battle. That's why they are all so pissed off at Eren.
Eren basically made himself a hostage by infiltrating Marley. The scouts had no choice but to do what Eren said, fighting the Marleyans and extracting Eren.

They want to have ad many titan warriors as possible and I don't think that once 2 titans are "merged" inside a person, there is a way to separate them again. It lessens the issue of trusting just one person with your military's biggest weapon. If the one mega titan acts against the interests of everyone, there isn't much you could do to stop it, but if one of nine titans do it, there are eight others who can deal with it. Also there is a way to separate the titans, it's just never explicitly shown. We know this because there are nine when previously there was one.

Just because he can see GIMPSE of the future doesnt mean he knows every detail. she knew sasha would die and tried to prevent it, but shit happened anyway. You need to understand that Eren is actually the slave of this story, slave seeking freedom but unable to change anything. Eren seeing his fathers memories doesnt change the future, it was always meant to happen. Time travel is a closed loop in AOT, anything that happens will happen and you cant change it.
Eren used to get really tired and out of combat with 2 transformations, so here with 3 transformations he was beyond tired to continue fighting, that's why he spared Reiner, since he too was too tired to fight, you can even see that he can't make his titan form complete when he transform, lacking parts of his armor.
I think the reason why eren didn’t eat the jaw was because he was literally out of strength. Becoming a Titan takes a toll on the shifters. Especially turning multiple times in a day and while fighting and taking damage multiple times. All that takes a toll. That last punch to the armor Titan was like the last 15% of his power. He used up bacially all of his strength of his titans ability’s . And he probably realized Reiner even though he wasn’t at full strength ether, he probably had way more than eren at that point. Plus the scouts weren’t here for a war. They arnt prepared for a long drivin battle. Just a sneak attack. And leave. So if they kept fighting they would’ve eventually been all killed. Leaving was the best option. Eren got what he wanted. He got the warhammer Titan. And they destroyed their port full of ships. Wrecked havoc and caused chaos. The war isn’t over. It just began. Now they have to retreat and regroup. Both sides took damage.
One of the first times Eren appeared in this season, he was holding a baseball... we know Zeke likes baseball... that's one of the reasons we say to pay close attention to the details in this show 🤣

Regarding collosal transformation: it can be controlled by inheritor eg : bartholth's 2nd apparence in ep 4-5 of S1 it wasn't nuke , so basically if they nuke transformation their body should look slimmer ( they should fix it with armins Transformation)

Eren was out of fuel, he transformed like 4 times already. The mission was to capture the War Hammer Titan and that was accomplished. Better go back home than risk trying to get the Jaw, possibly losing the founder, attack and war hammer titan (which literally implies the end of paradis island) in the process.
War hammer is a bonus. The mission was for Paradis to get both Founding Titan and a titan with royal blood and destroy Marley's maritime force.

Quinn, the Scouts blame Eren for Sasha’s death because it was a needless risk they HAD to take, forced upon them by Eren.
They couldn’t risk losing Eren because he is their only playing card against the world that wants them eradicated. Eren has been reminded of this time and time again, and used it to his advantage, for personal profit.
He stole the Warhammer titan, and ensured a guaranteed war by attacking Willy Tybur.
The number one rule of Attack on Titan is… you must watch it a second time. There’s such little things like a random character who in season 2 or three (can’t remember exactly) said, “why did I do that” while looking confused at his own actions. I could’ve never understood nor caught such little details if I didn’t watch a second time and it makes so much more sense now. The writing in this show is just at a level never seen before. You can seriously start watching it all over again and you’ll be like… woah! That makes so much sense now.
Some of my favorite details in this show is understanding how the world building is done. There's a reason why the gang (especially Hange) were freaked out about Onion-capone skin colour. They were so closed from the world that they were left in the dark ages. There was also the part where the gang returns to Shiganshina and Armin doesn't know what coffee is (he thought it was some sort of black tea). Even the presence of the Beast Titan, they call it that because they have no idea what a monkey is. Such a great show!

Sasha was my favorite and I cried like a baby when she died. I still tear up and get upset over it every time I see it. This episode pissed me off so much. Not solely because she died, but that it was so fast.
They were mad at eren and blamed him cuz they didn't want to fight anyone, eren just said in his letters that he would go to war even if they were comin or not, so they had no choice but to protect the founder. They were not attacking marley for the sake of attacking marley. It was just a eren rescue mission

I wanted to weigh in on some points that were made. The reason why the scouts are upset is because Eren went rogue and acted on his own accord, forcing the Eldians into battle. They could've ignored Eren's letters ya. But that doesn't change the fact that what Eren planned involved the entirety of Eldians as he was in Marley to declare war. And since Eren has the power to do that, the scouts are forced to support him because of the path he chose. Basically what he sent to them was, "I'm going to declare war in the name of Eldia, up to you if guys if you want to help me or not." But overall, I love this show so much.

If his intension was to declare war he would have stroke before Willy explained how the war got to an end and made the world join forces after willy's speech.
He simple was there and waited in hopes his "gut feeling " would not turn out to be true.

Willy's declaration of war is through words. Eren's declaration of war is through actions. Sadly, international law states that the only time a state is allowed to retaliate (if that's what eren did from your perspective) is when they've been attacked. :( In this case, Eren is the first one to attack. Actions matter more than words, because words sometimes don't have weight. Though Willy's words were legitimate, Eren's response was heavier. If you search rules of retaliation in war, it shows that retaliation should be equal to the attack and must only be directed at military not civilians. Eren's actions did not meet that standards. But who cares about humantarian law right?

gotta say i don't agree with mason quinn about it not being eren's fault. eren pretty much manipulated them into coming, because they didn't want to lose their friend and of course they'd wanna save him. if they didn't come eren surely would've died. he put all his friends lives at risk for the sake of his plan which they didn't really agree to.
Reminder: Grisha Jaeger and Dina Fritz (Smiling Titan) birthed Zeke. Remember the 1st half of season 3 was all about the royals and getting Historia/Christa on the throne.
Zeke has royal blood, whenever royalty has the Founding Titan, King Fritz' will - the king who established the walls on the island - erases the memories of those citizens there, this is why Grisha..as the Attack Titan killed that family and consumed the Founding Titan.
Another note, because the Smiling Titan was Dina, remember some sort of titan lightning happened when Eren punched Dina's hand and those titans attacked Dina. That same lightning happened when Eren kissed Christa's hand when she accepted the throne.

This time, the scouts didn't sign up for his bullshit.. He didn't have the right to make a call single-handedly just bc he had the founding titan.
There's no option to ignore the letters to begin with, when eren is their survival key to this whole situation against the whole world.

The reason Eren didn't stay to take the Jaw was because he was exhausted. Remember transforming into a Titan takes a whole lot of energy. Actually until now he never transformed a second time, cause he wasn't capable. Here he transformed 3 or 4 times. So he had a way out and he was out of energy

I think the titan shifter can control whether there's a blast during the transformation or not. Bertholdt transformed twice throughout the series without nuking his surroundings. Once when they first attack Shiganshina and the second time when Reiner and him transform on top of the wall in Season 2
Reiner manager to grab the jaw Titan away. Eren had already turned into a Titan 3 times, he's completely drained and can't fight anymore.
Also, Eren forced their hand, Levy and everyone. They couldn't just ignore the letters and leave Eren to be taken by Marley. He was pretty much blackmailing them and force their hand.
Episode 8 broke me the first time I watched it. RIP Sasha T_T
I think this is where the controversial opinions on Attack on Titan start. I remember watching these few episodes (4x5 - 4x8) and being absolutely horrified at the sight of our main guys slaughtering the Marleyans. Obviously it's not like Marley as a whole is innocent. However the show has stated time and time again just how horrific war is and how no one wants to kill other humans (or at least shouldn't want to). And now? We're watching the scouts massacre civilians and soldiers without a second thought. Floch is even celebrating "The new eldian empire". I've always been confused by people hating on Gabi for Sascha's death or cheering for the jaw titan to be eaten. At that particular point, I couldn't help but agree with Levi and resent Eren for forcing this attack.
What I'm trying to say is, it's really fascinating to see how all of us with our own experiences and ifluences we've grown up with and encountered throughout life react so vastly different to the story coming full circle. Looking forward to the next episodes, because it doesn't really slow down from here!

Just so you know, Eren already transformed so many times before Reiner pops. He might not look like it, but he was definitely out of gas too. Some audience even noticed how he rushed every fight whenever he transformed since it's very uncommon for them to transform multiple times in one battle and Eren already had 3 transformations. He cannot eat them in human form and the Marley troops may regroup anytime. Notice how Levi looks at his watch, they can only stay for a quick raid and need to retreat to the airship immediately - Hange even mentioned "any stragglers will be out of their luck".
Eren holds the power of the Founding titan and is like the King piece on a chess board. If they lose him, they lose the game. The scouts had pretty much no choice other than to rescue him.
So, in a way, Eren forced their hand and dragged them into battle. That's why they are all so pissed off at Eren.
Eren basically made himself a hostage by infiltrating Marley. The scouts had no choice but to do what Eren said, fighting the Marleyans and extracting Eren.

As for the question oak asked, I think from my understanding, that they would rather not have many titans with one person. They want to have ad many titan warriors as possible and I don't think that once 2 titans are "merged" inside a person, there is a way to separate them again. If someome eats a guy who has 2 titans, they get the 2 titans. I don't think Marley would want that.
It lessens the issue of trusting just one person with your military's biggest weapon. If the one mega titan acts against the interests of everyone, there isn't much you could do to stop it, but if one of nine titans do it, there are eight others who can deal with it.
Also there is a way to separate the titans, it's just never explicitly shown. We know this because there are nine when previously there was one.

Had they ignored the letters Marley would have taken back the Founder and Attack titan. Marley having the Founder basically means it'd be completely over for Paradis. The scouts (or at least our main group as we see) express not having been board with the plan, so it was either go foarth with a plan they detest or let their greatest weapon kill himself in battle and have their island destroyed.

there was not a great master plan of Eren actually sparing the Jaw. He was indeed out of juice. People like to pretend this is all erens master plan while his reaction to sascha's death clearly showing how hes upset by it. Understand that Eren is the slave in this story. he sees glimpses of the future but does not know how to reach it or stop it.

You need to understand that Eren is actually the slave of this story, slave seeking freedom but unable to change anything. Eren seeing his fathers memories doesnt change the future, it was always meant to happen. Time travel is a closed loop in AOT, anything that happens will happen and you cant change it.

Eren used to get really tired and out of combat with 2 transformations, so here with 3 transformations he was beyond tired to continue fighting, that's why he spared Reiner, since he too was too tired to fight, you can even see that he can't make his titan form complete when he transform, lacking parts of his armor.

I think the reason why eren didn’t eat the jaw was because he was literally out of strength. Becoming a Titan takes a toll on the shifters. Especially turning multiple times in a day and while fighting and taking damage multiple times. All that takes a toll. That last punch to the armor Titan was like the last 15% of his power. He used up bacially all of his strength of his titans ability’s . And he probably realized Reiner even though he wasn’t at full strength ether, he probably had way more than eren at that point. Plus the scouts weren’t here for a war. They arnt prepared for a long drivin battle. Just a sneak attack. And leave. So if they kept fighting they would’ve eventually been all killed. Leaving was the best option. Eren got what he wanted. He got the warhammer Titan. And they destroyed their port full of ships. Wrecked havoc and caused chaos.
The war isn’t over. It just began. Now they have to retreat and regroup. Both sides took damage.

Regarding collosal transformation: it can be controlled by inheritor eg : bartholth's 2nd apparence in ep 4-5 of S1 it wasn't nuke , so basically if they nuke transformation their body should look slimmer ( they should fix it with armins Transformation)
