Hi, it's Jessie with Sharp Edges in Oklahoma.
Today I want to talk about changing the hinge in the blade drive in the Andis AGC Clipper.
When I get a clipper in for service, the first thing I do is check the hinges, I put it on. What I'll do is, I'll pull back on it and you see how that's pulling back away from the clipper.
When the hinge and blade drive is off and needs replacing, you’ll see the cutter blade stops when you pull on the blade assembly. This might also cause you to think your blade’s dull.
That just means the hinge and blade drive needs to be replaced.
The first thing I do is I will take the hinge screws off using the Phillips No.2 Screwdriver.
Once the hinge is off, remove and keep track of the shim lock or whatever before removing the blade drive.
The blade drive needs a number 1 Phillips screw to unfasten.
Take off the worn-out blade drive and replace it with a new one.
This is an OEM blade drive. You can tell it’s got plastic shoulders and it’s rounded. This is the new design.
You want to stretch the fins of the new blade drive to avoid loud noises before installing it to the clipper.
After tightening the screws until it’s snug, make sure to give it an extra quarter turn to avoid damaging the brass bushing. Do it for both screws.
Since the latch is still good, we’re just going to replace the hinge with a new one.
Make sure to insert the little pins in the pinholes of the latch and we’re done with that.
We’ll take the lock keeper shim there, put it back on, and always make sure this little round part right here is facing up.
I’m going to put our hinge back in, make sure it’s set there and put the screws back on.
We’re going to replace the blade cap over here - blade drive cap - I’ve already taken off the old foam. By the way, when you get when you open these up. There’s going to be lots of fur and stuff in here I’ve already cleaned it out for the sake of the video.
I’m going to run my air compressor, it’s really loud.
Ask your blade to drive to your sharpener, you’ll have these little foam pads that you can replace these are important because they keep hair from getting down in your motor.
You put these back on and you’ll pop the hinge back open and you’re good to go.
    I hope that helps someone.

You said, "I hope that helps somenone.." . Thank you so much. You helped me. Just by telling me to pop the hinge open. Mine closed and I couldn't figure out what to open to get my blade back on. Thankyou so much for your help!!! :)

Hi, where can I buy all these pieces. I have an andis and want to see if replacing these pieces will make it work again.
