I don’t think this video can be praised enough. Everything about it, from the information conveyed, the camera work, to the presentation, and the music, was excellent. This video isn’t just a how-to sharpen clipper blades, it’s also a how-to make an instructional video. Mr. Keepitsharp is top tier. And to top it off, he’s a family man with beautiful kids. I appreciate you, Mr. Keepitsharp. I love what you do and how you do!
One of the very best RUclips instructional videos I have ever watched. Started off with live soulful music, then very detailed instructions and mentioned everything necessary for the process, and an enthusiastic vibrant personality that keeps everyone attentive. Sir you're a perfectionist and I appreciate your lesson. 😊
im working on something right now, just trying to figure out how to get the funding, but once i do i will let everyone in on it thanks so much for the support
Oh my goodness. This was the best tutorial video I’ve ever seen. Seriously. The introduction and conclusion with those two fantastic musicians makes this video something that should catch on and become customary for every RUclips video. Well, at least the tutorials. Thanks for the science behind sharpening clipper blades. I had no idea. I’m definitely going to subscribe!
Thank you so much for years I've been throwing away clippers because of dull blades finally someone showing me how to sharpen them a BIG THANK YOU, from South Africa.
I like your video. Years ago maybe 40 years ago I lived in West Virginia and they closed down the coal mines and thousands were out of work, my dad my brother and myself. I told dad, "hey dad what about sharpening some blades and stuff with an edge"? He said let me think, and dad bought the equipment and I studied all I could about saw blade sharpening and the edge of many things people use every day. Barber clippers were one of the items. Your method you show is an exact science that folks don't know about. It actually sharpens the cutting edge of the blade that does the work ! Great video and thank you. Carbide tips on saw blade, face cut and side cut to exact size of each tooth and the blade will cut better than new, hand saws the same except more teeth and we had to bend each tooth alternately left & right so the blade want bind in the wood. Scissors must have the right angle of cutting edge and then they cut well as long as there not bent out of shape which people do all the time cutting things the scissors weren't meant to cut.
Great video. I cut my own hair 20 years now. I have never gone to the barber's. My challenge was to sharpen the blades. Now you have saved me. New idea, thank you so much. God bless you.
I remember bk in the 70’s we had garage bands all over the place, it was a wonderful time to be a kid if your parents had enough disposable income to purchase musical instruments for their kids. We need more young folk that actually know music and study music so you don’t be a one hit wonder, music knowledge opens the mind up, computer musicians are limited, I digress, Now most bands were crappy, but potential was the small part. The bigger part was our parents knew where we were, and we weren’t running around without having something creative and fun to do, yes we got on our parents last nerve “ makin dat racket/ noise” but we were safe. You brought back memories of the past, and thanks for the info on sharpening clippers, I was about to purchase new blades and remembered your video and found it, stay safe, stay well, stay smart, COVID is real,.
Greetings from Phuket in Thailand. I'm a 70 year old Aussie now retired and living in Thailand for the past 12 years. I like a short hair cut #1 or #2 most of the time as it is a hot 30c+ here most days of the year and extremely humid around 85%. Well I have have been doing it all wrong for years! Thank you so much, your easy to listen to and informative video now I know the process and you gave me all the tools I needed to get a perfectly sharp Wahl. I am a knife collector and maker and I know all about knife sharpening so I used my new and expensive Sharpening Stones as they were handy and I know perfectly flat. The process I used was exact the same as your video the only difference is the grits I used were very similar to the 150 & 220 sand paper but more like 180 and 280 or slightly finer. Most of my Sharpening Stones are more in the 1000 - 8000 and even 12,000 grit range so finding a course one was just good luck. I thank you again keep up the good work, and the Kids Rock as well!!! regards Barry Rowe
I watched this about 2 years ago and I am having trouble with my clippers at work. So I remembered this video but wasnt sure if it was the right one. I remembered all the tools in the garage instantly when I saw it. Just wanted to say this is probably the most helpful video I have ever watched on RUclips and I give it a 10 star rating bc you got to the point without all the extra unnecessary talking. Someone needs to pay you for being so great. THANKYOU SIR
Brilliant intro! I just wanted to say a big thank you! I must have 40 sets of clipper blades and it costs me almost as much to have sharpened as it does to buy a new blade and I generally need them in a hurry. Mine dull quickly because I'm using them to clip goats for shows. I really can't believe how easy this is!! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge!
I used to have a clipper sharpening business. What he is showing you may work for home clipper blades for our home hair cutting needs. However, I would say that you have either Oster or Andis clippers and blades. These blades are hollow ground and shouldn't be flat ground sharpened as he was demonstrating. If they were, then he would not have bought that expensive machine to sharpen clipper blades. Believe me, that is why it costs between 6 and 10 dollars to get your blades sharpened professionally and they should demagnetize them also. Also a few tips for keeping your blades sharper longer: 1) If you keep your blades in the barn make sure they are well oiled...don't let rust get started on your blades, pitting kills the blades and when you get them sharpened they will charge more to remove the pitting. If they don't then the blades will not cut well if at all. So I would suggest that you keep the blades in your home where they are less likely to rust...but regardless ALWAYS keep them oiled. WD 40 works well. 2) I see that you are showing your goats. I would assume that you are bathing before you clip them, if not, any dirt in the fur will kill the sharpness of the blade and dull them a whole lot quicker. 3) Find a local sharpener that guarantees his work, or call a dog groomer who will recommend a good one. So one last bit of advice, DON'T sharpen your blades (if they are hollow grind blade) as he showed. They won't cut well and last very long. Hope this helped. BTW my wife is a pet groomer and I still sharpen her blades and scissors...so if you would like, you can contact me and see about sharpening your blades for you. Be safe, Chuck
I've never loved a tutorial as much as this one. Not once did I feel the need to fast forward any portion of this video. You and your kids are awesome!
This is the most informative video. I've been buying replacement blades for all my adult life. My wife graduated barber college 17 years ago. We've always bought new blades at Sally's or BeautyCo. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you! I literally dug a dull set of clippers out of the trash after seeing this. I followed your tutorial and they're better than new. I even did a haircut ten minutes later. Well done!
G'Day Mate. Your teaching skills are extremely good and thorough. Thank You for your succinct presentation. Love the band. Thanks again mate. Greetings from Australia.
My man I've been buying blades for years..my girl even cuts will turn her on...many thanks! Cant wait to try this technique!!! What's knowledge if you keep it to yourself?👍
Very creative and informative! Engaging explanation and demonstration. I came here to learn how to sharpen clipper blades but didn’t expect such a well thought out and choreographed tutorial!
Thank you for taking this subject and putting it down on a shelf where I could reach it! You are awesome! I did exactly as you said and showed and it turned out beautiful! You are much appreciated in this man’s house!
Nice job explaining and demonstrating. I love the intro with you're family. Much love from a Lady barber. This should have been for me 30 years ago when I first got out of school.
I loved the complete video ! Your explanation of how this all works shows You are well prepared and well deserved Aces ! Thanks & Congrats to You, Your Son & Daughter ! Love the Beats and the Bass ! All My Best ~ ` Rick
I've been looking for over two weeks now on how to clean and sharpen my clipper blades and there is a lot of B.S. solutions out there, I know because I tried some of them and they failed miserably!! I can't believe that I found your video this morning and how simplistic you have made it. I'm look forward to try it your way and FINALLY END the hopeless search that was both time consuming & costly!! Thank you very much & God Bless!!
When I was a teenager in the 70s, I learned this from my barber. He used 200 and 400 grit on a piece of plywood. I still have my dad's old clippers I cut his hair with.
Thank you for making this video! I sure like it when the wife cuts my hair like a pro! Was searching for how to service the clippers. We've used them for at least 15 years now, so it's time!
I have to say you have the best presentation on RUclips that I have found and I don’t know how long. I have this pair of Styliner M3 clippers by andis they have been sitting in a box a while, because they just did not cut. Years ago, I looked on RUclips for help and a guy was attempting to show how to sharpen the blades, but did a shotty job from what I recall. Yours is straightforward and to the point I will try this as soon as possible and will keep in mind your instructions when maintaining all of my clippers. Thanks for serving your community in this capacity. God bless.
This video is absolutely fantastic. I have a few sets of clippers that I used to cut my husband's and son's hair during Covid, but I also have a senior long-haired cat who refuses to let me brush her and she's to the point where she can't groom herself. She gets matted pretty quickly and since she's 17, I don't want to stress her out too much so I try to shave out the mats as quickly as possible. Naturally, this has dulled the ever-loving crap out of every blade I have and it feels like I'm punishing her by trying to keep her more comfortable. Now with one trip to the hardware store, they should be like new. Thank you so much!
From the Moment this video opened I fell in Love! From the music, to it being Live, to the view of your magnificent vintage machinery, to the representation of several old classic Osters, to the fact that you told me what I'd never Venture to hope to hear-which is that I can use my sandpaper methods on my clipper blades Too! My one question is because I don't have access to your fancy blade cleaner oil. Can I use my "Original Zoom Spout Highest Quality Turbine Oil" instead? The compounds are similar in that they work to keep machinery running without getting gunked up. Thank you for your time and for today's unexpected dose of Pure Solid Joy!
Yea i feel the same way. That why i walked in like that. And by the way i had nothing to do with that jam. I went to them and asked them to make me a intro jam. Thats what they came up with. So all credit to them.
thank you so much! the manner in which you remove the diy taboo(clippers must be done professionally) with the simplicity of how, the "understandable" clarity of why leaves me and the common dude who is lookin to save a some money, with the confidence and knowledge that "I can do this and get better at it!" Im not a genius nor am i a simpleton but that presentation w "cleaning tip"(never knew how quick the damage could be! ..and explains alot of past whys) brought clarity to any prob i ever had w clipper sharpening!! TY n God Bless!! ... oh, ur son n daughter; keep rockin!!! good stuff! having a musical talent is a gratitude u will revere to ur last breath.
Wow! This was very helpful. I usually just replace my outliner and t outliner blades. This will definitely prolong the life of my blades. Thank you very much brother, keep it up. You just gained a subscriber 👍🏾
Until today i would just dull my blades during an attempted clippers sharpening. I watched video 3 times, and sharpened 3 pairs of clippers successfully. Thank You my good man, you didn't need to take the time to teach this method. To all you haters, in your neck, dry, with a pair of clippers.
Thank you for this! I haven't been able to find anyone to sharpen my sheep shears but thanks to your video, I'm pretty sure I can sharpen them myself now.
I feel like I just discovered treasure here. I have a set of old Sears beard Clippers that need attention now. Have other old Clippers here that don't get much use but need a touch up. Thank you. And thanks to the band. Now I gotta go find some blues videos.
Great video sir.,I'm also tired of buying New clippers almost every 3 to 5 yrs.im now 65yrs and retired at 61,but thankful for stumbling onto your vid!! 😊
Nice intro!… you did a very nice job explaining and demoing how to sharping the various blades. Also…thank you for showing everyone that this can be done with sandpaper in your home. This a very low cost technique that produced excellent results. Nice job and thanks for sharing your knowledge! Frank
For some reason I compelled to tell you that you did a great job on this video. Very clear, concise and professional. Plus that intro was the dope. I'm not even a barber but I will subscribe to show support. Good content man!
That was a great video I loved the music at the beginning. Clear, concise and simple you should do more videos on how to do it yourself. Thank you for your help.
This is really cool 😎 Your kids are awesome…you guys made a great team. You could have a show of yours literally. Thank you for the video. Great learning for me.
THANK YOU for making this video! I recently got frustrated with salons out here and went back to cutting my own hair (I did it best during lockdown ha). After a move, I dug out my old clippers from when we first got married cuz they were all I could find (I had like 2 others- one was my newer cordless and it apparently grew legs 😫). I had to toss it. They used to get sharpened professionally thanks to my friends that worked in salons, but that was over a decade ago. This clipper in particular I used to take stellar care of until it got placed randomly in a move and we couldn't find it so we replaced it (so it sat in its case for probably 7 or 8 years and I'm sure it was in our storage unit for at least 2 of those 8 years). I was trying to find ways to keep the super nice clipper/trimmer set hubby just got me nice and sharp and stumbled here- could not be happier! THANK YOU! And they're 2 years older, but give your kids a hug and remind them that you're proud of them for helping you make this video. They're pretty darn good! 😊
Bro! This was an EXCELLENT VIDEO! You were amazingly descriptive about every step throughout the sharpening process; You made sure the camera had a clear view of everything going on; And you were very thorough & precise about what we should be doing - as well as making sure your viewers know specifically what NOT to do. This was an extremely classy video & I thoroughly enjoyed the Intro & Outro performed by your Son & Daughter - who are both musically talented. Super tasteful! Seriously though, this was the FIRST TIME I've ever watched one of your videos! I can honestly say I'm diggin' it! I "liked" your video & I immediately subscribed to your channel after watching this! Two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻 I sincerely look forward to seeing your future videos! 💯💯 Much Love ✊🏻 ~Justin in Chicago, IL
My home clipper was sitting in the drawer awaiting tossing in the dumpster. Found this by accident and loved it! Simple, direct, meaningful comments. Thanks for saving my clippers.
Im very thankful for my family and the education ive obtained over the years. Honestly i cant take the credit for it its a blessing from Jehovah God and good people along the way who taught me things thats why i give it back for free. Some one gave it to me for free. Stay tune for part 2
Amazing video from beginning to end! I've seen other "sharpening" videos that didn't help my blades at all. This one not only hit the nail on the head, but the awesome music is such a cool bonus! Keep up the great work :D
You should paint the surface of that blade with a sharpie marker in blue or black so that while you are sharpening that blade, you not only assure yourself that your sharpening the blade evenly, you also assure yourself that you are not taking too much material off the blade that would otherwise result in excessive wear of the blade.
Great video. I learned a lot of stuff I'm sure you've known for a long time. Thank you. I have one question though. When do you recommend that you not sharpen a blade anymore?
Amazing video! Im a dog groomer with so many detachable blades it costs a small fortune to them sharpened, not mention my scissors. My question is: how hard is your pressure when pulling acrossnthe sandpaper. Also, could i use a wet stone for knife and achieve the same effect? Thanks!
I accidently happened upon this tutorial (it auto-played after another video) and I had to stay. the Music was a great but the instructions you gave AND HOW you presented it was just phenominal. Its one of the cleanest/easiest tutorials EVER to watch. Thanks very much for the "Blade Machine Theory" history.
Rhythm section only. Teaching your kids where the soul of the music comes from. Good job man! This is why I love black people. Also fantastic tutorial, clear, concise, entertaining, informative. Everything you could want, nothing you don't. You've scored yourself a fan.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Probably the best tutorial I've ever seen. Well filmed and ultimately dummy proof. Bravo sir & thank you.

I would have to take them with me everywhere I go, that's a sweet entry. I would have that entry going into the mall, Walmart, even Starbucks.
Super! Thank you, sir.
And to Caleb and Naomi for the jammin' entertaining finish -
honed the video out with class and s t y l e .
Your welcome make sure you watch parts 2and and 3for full education

Very pleasantly presented content. Your kids are awesome!

Great video. Very educational and simple methodology that anyone can follow and feel confident executing in their own home. Well done brother.
Simple and straight to the point. Thank you. Since the pandemic, Wahl blade are notoriously dull out of the package.
This is the greatest tutorial video I’ve ever seen! Thanks for your efforts in producing this :) love it from beginning to end!
I really enjoyed the intro/entrance. Kind of reminded me of a show from the 80's or 90's. Thanks for the info as well presented, helped out alot.
We will be putting up part 2 very soon
Thought he was gonna jump on the guitar 🔥⚡️🔥🔥
Legend. Thanks pal, all the way from Australia where we are all 'crusty and busty'! Love the music.
Your welcome thanks for the love. The truth is im crusty and busty myself
I sincerely look forward to seeing your future videos! 💯💯
Much Love ✊🏻

Where are you from??
Oh man that was great. Very informative, professional, with a touch of soul
Thanks
keepitsharp357 reminded me of the souuuuuuul train ! From the 60s 70s 😎👌🏼
My home clipper was sitting in the drawer awaiting tossing in the dumpster. Found this by accident and loved it! Simple, direct, meaningful comments. Thanks for saving my clippers.
When the music started I had to sit up and listen, class is about to start.
I know in the end, them blades will be so sharp it would cut atoms! 😆👍
I am a little late to viewing your video, but it is awesome. Love the music "intro" and "outro"... Now I am on to the the part 2 video.
Thank you sir.
A+++ I've never seen blade theory explained so well. Damn.
Couldn't imagine it being explained any better. Thank you.
Love the intro and learned to sharpen my blades!! Thank you keep it going !!
just for anyone interested, this genuinely does work. i’ve just sharpened two pairs of Lister horse clipper and this method worked a charm !!!
Thanks for you input and checking out our videos. Glad I was able to help
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Also you got a blessed family. God bless you all!!!
Im very thankful for my family and the education ive obtained over the years. Honestly i cant take the credit for it its a blessing from Jehovah God and good people along the way who taught me things thats why i give it back for free. Some one gave it to me for free. Stay tune for part 2
Straight and simple, awesome video! Thanks for sharing, God bless you and your family.
Make sure you watch parts 2 and 3 for more education
One of the best tutorials I've ever watched on youtube: thorough, informative, and no fluff, straight to the point! Thank you!
Amazing video from beginning to end! I've seen other "sharpening" videos that didn't help my blades at all. This one not only hit the nail on the head, but the awesome music is such a cool bonus! Keep up the great work :D
I learned something new, this video was educational and very entertaining, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
Thanks for watching i glad it was helpful. I will be putting up part 2 very soon
Best instructional video that's ever been made. Much love from Scotland 🏴
Best tutorial on blade sharpening I've seen so far. You are an excellent teacher👍👍
Amazing video! Im a dog groomer with so many detachable blades it costs a small fortune to them sharpened, not mention my scissors. My question is: how hard is your pressure when pulling acrossnthe sandpaper. Also, could i use a wet stone for knife and achieve the same effect? Thanks!
This came in clutch for my covid haircuts 💀🤣. Thank you!
Your welcome. Make sure you watch parts 2and 3 for full education
Nice workshop! And rhythm section, love it! You are the sharpening professor! Thank you for the great tutorial!!! Those kids keep on groovin!!!
This is exactly what I’m talking about ! 💯 good stuff bro! Now get back to the office and take care of your people 😂😂🤦♂️
Thanks. Doing my best
Didn't know it's that easy. Thanx Sean, pick up your paint brushes. Hahaha!!
GOD bless you and your family. Thank you for the teaching and your love for helping people. You are such a blessing!
You welcome. Thanks for watching
Great tutorial. You kept it simple and to the point.
Sending love from South Africa🇿🇦...this was actually dope to watch and informative🔥
Glad to hear. Thank you very much. Happy you were entertained and learned something.

Rhythm section only. Teaching your kids where the soul of the music comes from. Good job man! This is why I love black people.
Also fantastic tutorial, clear, concise, entertaining, informative. Everything you could want, nothing you don't. You've scored yourself a fan.

You sure can. Wish you the best
