Been cutting for almost 50 years this July.. I have never thought about adjusting the tension bar, I took it for granted that the Factory setting were correct. Very good video.. Even Old dawgs can learn something new.

I had some Outliner IIs that I've had for over 25 years...they quit working so I took them apart and cleaned them up. Still wouldn't cut. I literally threw them in the trash and was ready to waste $90 on a new pair. I watched this video and you got me up and running again like they're brand new! Thanks man.

Thanks brotha!!! Been cutting my hair for years. I never knew about both adjustments. Despite that, as a high school teacher my students always tell me how fresh my cuts look. But I came across your video and followed both steps to the T. And it's definitely a game changer. Now my andis outliners are sharp as hell with a lot more power. So I tested your guidance. 1st I adjusted the blade. Wow 10 times better than Ive ever adjusted my blade. It was just like going to my barber. However when I adjusted the tensioner! Game changer. Better than the line up with beard I get at the barber. Thank you brutha. This solution is the right way to adjust your blades. Peace ✌🏾

Bro I absolutely want to thank you for making this video! For years I’ve been trying to get my outliner II and t outliners barber quality sharp and in my unsuccessful attempts my clippers have not been solving my razor bump issue. Your tutorial has my clippers hitting and shaving my face effortlessly. I was on the verge of throwing both of my clippers away because I thought they were too old but nope once I got that above half moon on my tension spring I was golden! Only thing is my tension spring never clicked in to place but I tightened the screw enough for the half moon and I was good also the one screw in my case trick didn’t work I needed both screws or my outliners rattled too much! Overall absolute 10/10 video thanks again!!!!

This will also make sure the blade doesn't move as it's supposed to. Instead of side to side , it'll move in circles and back and forth therefore eventually causing damage to the tension bar.

Hi thanks for your video. I'm in cosmo school and they gave us Wahl.... Any idea how to adjust them or what blade setter to get for that brand?

What does adjusting the tension do?

Puts pressure on the moving blade to create friction. Too little tension pressure and the blades will pull the hair instead cutting and too much tension will cause the trimmer to fuse out and possibly mess up the motor or the positive/negative cables that connect to the motor.
