A League of Their Own is a 1992 American sports comedy-drama film that tells a fictionalized account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). Directed by Penny Marshall, the film stars Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, and Lori Petty. Yes, he always includes this in one of his top 3 movies to film because he played baseball all summer.
That scene at the urinal is the one scene that has stuck in my head all these years more than any other.

I could really identify with the looks he made as he was peeing. Sometime it just feels great when you finally get to go.
That entire scene was pure old fashioned comedy. Penny Marshall insisted they include dirty humor because she herself is a comedian.

Hanks works so well in this role because he's not actually threatening. He's one of those guys that's funny when he's mad, so all his outbursts work as comedy instead of feeling uncomfortable
My favorite scene is when he knocks the shit outta stilwell. I just love how he contemplated throwing a bat at him before he throws the mitt and then that evil laugh. Got him! 😂😂😂😂😂

The interesting thing about this role for him was that Penny didn't think he would want it, since it was a supporting role He had already been nominated for an Oscar, but had had a slight slump. He begged her for the part. He even got on his knees and thanked her, saying he hoped it was another "Big"

This was, and is a wonderful movie although I've never been into ball sports but the way they made the movie was so good..I remember when it came out and watching it maybe twice or more. Tom Hanks is a fabulous actor and the lady's done a fantastic job as well. The ending was so sad but happy at the same time ❤

The premise of the film is so loaded for moments of small satire, and all met by a great cast. Hanks as stereotypical manager and a knowledgeable, experienced, cynical lush … maybe his favorite role ? At 8:55 he maintains diplomacy with tense fingers and nearly dribbles sot weed juice - vaudeville profile. His reaction to getting a swig from Coke in that bottle is a moment. The history of Coca Cola and WW2 is as big as American Baseball. One brief quip not shown here occurs after Dottie and husband have returned…. Dottie, “ We got as far as Yellowstone and turned back.” Jimmy, “Trouble with the bears?” It’s a quiet throw-away line. Great writing, very, very entertaining film with needed serious moments. Love it.
Let’s see A league of our own, Forest Gump, Big, Philadelphia, Green Mile, The money pit, Castaway….my favorite TH movies!🤗
