Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna star in this major-league comedy from the team that brought you Big. Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ballplayer whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the All-American Girls Baseball League of 1943, while the male pros are at war, Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his all-girl team. Big Dottie Henson has a helluva stare down.
Re: The ball coming loose. Dottie was a consummate ball player who knew her responsibility on the field was to her teammates who were playing their guts out. There's no way she'd sacrifice their heroics just to make an opposing player feel better. And, please watch Dottie's face when she saw Kit rounding third. She realized Kit was making a mistake. Dottie WANTED that ball. Kit wanted the win just as much, maybe even more and came barreling into the plate and her sister with everything she had. At 8:44, Dottie is on the ground on the right, absolutely wiped out from that hit and her body language is not someone who's play acting. The way they both flipped and tumbled, I'm not surprised the ball got jarred from Dottie's hand.
Thank you! I’ve always felt the same way, but you explained it in a way that really covers it. For me it was the fact that Dottie was actively doing things to stop her. I don’t think she was expecting Kit to plow through her like that and the ball fell out of her hand.
80 she took a similar hit earlier on the season and held onto the ball. She dropped it on purpose.
Such a good dramatic decision in the script. This movie is wonderful
@@Surfer041 OR she took a pretty hard hit from that other (bigger) player earlier and hurt her shoulder. Not so good at it later on.
This last play was the ONE time Dottie lost her cool. For that reason I think she lost. Panic when seeing Kit charging at her with ferocity and despair when she got hit.
I love the guy standinf on the field in the tuxedo
“Master strategist Jimmy Dugan” has to have his right fielder deeper there with two outs in a one run game. Outfielders deep, corner infielders guarding the line, “no doubles defense”, very standard.
This movie is one of a very select few that are so good. Goonies, stand by me , sandlot..and this one..if you don't like those movies, we probably couldn't be friends..just how it seems to work

Kits a crybaby! Big sister had to throw it at the last second so baby sister COULD COPE with being a REAL BALL PLAYER.
How do we know she dropped it on purpose? The smile on her face as kit was carried away in victory. Dottie won a victory for her sister, she didn’t care about losing a game.

Dottie did her little sister a solid by letting the ball go. She also let her entire team down allowing Kit to score. A split decision of sisterly love.

She did it on purpose. She was whine bag...so big sis felt bad. She was gone after this game. Yet her sister was playing till the end of the league folded.
Kit had to find it in herself. Stop blaming her sister when she got over emotional or went for a bad pitch. You give your best sometimes it enough and sometimes it not. You either rise up or fall down.
People actually watched this whole damn movie and STILL think Dottie dropped it on purpose. That's not how this relationship works 😂😂

Dotty didn't drop the ball on purpose. Dotty never gives Kit a freebee because she wanted Kit to do better, and Kit cannot do that if Dotty threw the game for her. Also, Dotty's love for baseball and her competiveness wouldn't let her do that. She's not a quitter.
Kit earned it. She deserved a moment in the sun.

Though the movie was bases on an actual event… but the characters in the movie are fictional… good movie nonetheless.
But Mr. Dugan seemed to have or was given a very impatient character, as though he didn’t want to be part of the venture but had no choice.
