For the newbies like me wondering how you can quickly setup your eye direction to work well and to be easily adjustable in Blender, I usually ad an Empty, then add a Track To modifier to a bone that I add for each eyeball that tracks to the Empty. When you move the empty around both eyeballs will follow realistically (and at slightly different angles). This will even make the eyes cross-eyed as in real live when you bring the empty close to the face. It works great in animations too. Human eyes tend to lock onto static objects as you move around and locks onto other moving objects when they move around.
Thanks for the detailed instructions! I actually have an old tutorial on just this :) ruclips.net/video/-QZ_TfeKdho/видео.html After posting though I was recommended to use bones instead of empties, something about it being a more robust method for blender. I'd say its quicker to just rotate them into position if its just posing though.
It's very true you can find recourses for modeling and understanding forms in the most unlikely places. That's what I told my girlfriend when she opened that hidden folder marked 'Ref Images'
Quick tip, you can totally avoid retopology by having a base model with good topology and zwrap for zbrush, no need for 3d coat or other software for that
DUDE, this workflow tutorial is so valuable, some details of it just blew my mind.... i've been avoiding blender since i dont understand certain aspects of it, and the tutorials arent always clear on how to use it, but now i see a huge set of posibilities with this workflow
Are you teaching on Skillshare I would pay to learn? Your Zbrush add-on tool, is it only straight hair, or does it also have loose wavy, curly hair? And can it work interchangeably with Blender and Zbrush?
This video is great in so many ways but just learning about the existence of the eye designer add on is awesome in and of itself. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hey Danny! Have you created much full character stuff including body, rigging, etc? I find that stuff to be really fascinating and you're finished products look the best out of what I've seen on youtube, so I was wondering if you did much of that kind of thing?
if you could quickly export zbrush models to blender, modify topology with blender's poly modelling tools, then export it back to zbrush while retaining polygroups and subd levels, I think you'd be able to make literally anything in the world all in high fidelity and with good topology
Hey Danny! Awesome stuff as always! Could you try recording some hard surface sculpting at some point? I know it's "not in the comfort zone" but it would be great to see if it's possible to sculpt say a robot or a mecha in Blender and learn the workflow (I know you can model it, but it would be interesting to see someone skillful trying to sculpt hard surface). It would be great for concepting.
I was gonna be like "Oh shit this guy's worked for Disney, Dreamworks and Pixar what's my excuse!?" Then you got me. Prank'd, welcome back to DannyMac Pranks, GOT EM
So I'm curious. Is this the basic workflow for even large studios these days? Animation and film characters go through the sculpt/retopo method instead of the old box modeling method?
Waguan Danny. I was wondering... How do you do that shape key trick where you have ta meshes and you make the one a shape key for the other. Or plaese what is it called so I can look it up. Thanks hope u r doing well🤙🏾
Mmmmh this is an old video so maybe you work differently now, but using Zmodeler is perfectly fine for lowpolies and retopo, like eyelashes/eyebrows and teeth. Well I don't like modeling in Blender so, I do as much as I can in Zbrush ^^.
Hi thanks for the video, a query, would you recommend studying graphic design to be a 3D animator (also create your own characters, shorts, etc)? I know that in design they teach about color theory and that, would you recommend it? : )
Great Video. I was just wondering if you could tell me, how you get the high level details into blender. Do you use displacement maps, or just a higher poly version, or else? Thx
gorgeous work . Ive been out of the 3d world for long time now, used to use 3ds max very good but now that i want to restart doing 3d what program would you recommend i love modeling and animation
Hey Danny, are you still using the Huion tablet you reviewed sometime back? Anything you noticed since then about the tab? or is everything as good as when you reviewed it? Also let me add that I am a long time follower and love your work. Cheers
Whenever I try sculpting I always end up with a lumpy bumpy mess that's not smooth, somehow it'll fall out of symmetry despite never not using a symmetry tool. I wish I knew how to get along with the tablet + software more, it's a really clunky process for me. Guess I just need to start putting in the hours.
To fix the bumpy issue, drop your polycount as low ass possible. You should always be working with as few polygons as you can, gradually increasing as the sculpt progresses. Hope that helps! I have a stylised head course for blender in the making which will be free so watch out for that :)
@@DannyMac3d I'll have another go today, I tend to have a go at sculpting, do poor, take a huge break. Should practice more. I'll deffo keep an eye out for the blender course :)
I learn so much about character design every time I watch your videos. Do you plan on making a full length course on character creation in Blender - ZBrush? I would buy that in a heart beat.
hey man im getting an error message when i try to install the eye designer saying Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\silen\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.93\scripts\addons\danny_mac_eye_designer\__init__.py", line 68, in execute bpy.ops.object.select_all(action='DESELECT') File "C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 2.93\2.93\scripts\modules\bpy\ops.py", line 132, in __call__ ret = _op_call(self.idname_py(), None, kw) RuntimeError: Operator bpy.ops.object.select_all.poll() failed, context is incorrect location: :-1

I now offer a course on how to sculpt a stylized head! t.co/LSIWCSFcxY
Make a girl with brown hair and green eyes
does this one include how to render?

Some of the clearest 3D information delivery with no frills. I still refer to your retopo tutorials for the same reason. Nicely done!
It's very true you can find recourses for modeling and understanding forms in the most unlikely places. That's what I told my girlfriend when she opened that hidden folder marked 'Ref Images'
Yep, I just checked my 'Ref Images' folder and uh... Can confirm.

I love the way you speak… I don’t know, maybe it’s the accent or timbre or both but it’s a pleasure to listen to you
Danny Mac, One of the best 3D sculpt teacher !

I think he did something like that with star guardian lux

Osm keep making videos like this ♥️
Awesome. Love your little tips
What an ominous title
so early the video has the wrong name
"Video Final" was absolutely the correct name at the time. Nothing to see here.
Awesome work!
Awesome, and I also learned a lot, I would love to see more videos like this, they are quite relaxing
Good stuff as always Danny. Great work and concept choice. Love that Blender opacity map painter right on the model. I need that in my life. 😁
So good
Nice.
Thank You :) !

I feel the need of a reaction from Cameron Mark.
My reaction is, Wow! He nailed it.
Thank you@@cameronmark8230 - yes, yes he did :-)
Great pipeline but, Question.. Do all that really couldnt be done only within Blender??
Masterful 🔥
Ohh very cool
Super brother. 👌 . Can you make master design for 3d printing?.
Hi Danny, i like to much yours videos, all succes for you!
I always wanted to make stuff like this but my pc only have 2GB RAM
have u ever tried animating one of ur models and if not it would be really fun the see u try
awesome, can you please make a guide on whow you build the shader for the skin, eyes etc ??
IMMEDIATE like button slap for the intro mask.
Any Chance you might make a full course for something like this using only Blender?
Waguan Danny. I was wondering... How do you do that shape key trick where you have ta meshes and you make the one a shape key for the other. Or plaese what is it called so I can look it up. Thanks hope u r doing well🤙🏾
Hello my friend awesome video! I’m in the beginning stages and am currently learning. May I ask why is it beneficial to use both applications?!
😂🤔 That intro leads me to believe you have seen Lamb (2021) 🐑
Danny can you give approximate timelines on creating these conversions? How long it took you.
Hello I’m new to the channel . Is this blender app on iPad? Not sure if I overlooked it or not.
Amazing as always! but earrings should have been pink color no?
Do you still stream? Where can we watch those?

Great video! Is it worth upgrading Zbrush Core to Zbrush?
Awesome work Danny, lovely as usual!
Now before you leave, here’s a thumb up for you.
Great Video. I was just wondering if you could tell me, how you get the high level details into blender. Do you use displacement maps, or just a higher poly version, or else? Thx
love the hair technique
gorgeous work . Ive been out of the 3d world for long time now, used to use 3ds max very good but now that i want to restart doing 3d what program would you recommend i love modeling and animation
Which monitor do you use for 3d work?
how did you do the eyelashes?
sorry about my lack of knowledge but what's the difference when you make it only in blender using blender's sculpt tools ?
he's just used to and prefers zbrush
HI!Is the hair tool a plugin?
fo o shop
Ominous title gang
Hey Danny have you tried other retopo and UV options like Retopoflow in Blender, Topogun, or Rizom?
I love you work guy
You are the best
Please, Please sir how i can do if i want you to modeling character for me
Do you have tutorial class in skillshare?

I’m getting the feeling that I should get Zbrush.
Amazing really love it so your so funny too.
MANTAP!
Meanwhile me searching on RUclips:-
How to start with a donkey head and end with a clap 😂
I learn so much about character design every time I watch your videos. Do you plan on making a full length course on character creation in Blender - ZBrush? I would buy that in a heart beat.
Danny you are awesome, is there anyway I can send you my WIP for you to review please. I buy you a beer, it be a cheap student one though

Good job as always !!!

100th Like!!!
I think you forgot the fruit that's in her mouth, that's why she has her mouth open
What are you looking at???
我学废了
If you have Zbrush you can avoid all those extra steps jumping all over the place like that.
amazing work man , i love your channel and i learnt a lot from you for anyone seeing this comment you should subscribe now this man is a gem
Do you have Chinese subtitles?
What are the chances of that?
Hmm 🤔.. looks like sculpting in Zbrush
Yeah. Whether you use zbrush or not, you can still learn from watching him regardless of where he sculpts. Software is purely preference.
than you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uses blender for like 10 percent of entire process

Oh my God, you are a furry?
