I would not put this game in the same category as the many versions of Tetris. Those are all the same game, with different rules and goals. This. Is sand.
I hadn't noticed how many views this had until watching till the end and thought this was done by a mainstream channel, boy how surprised I was when I scrolled down. Great video, will definitely check this game out! Can't wait to see when you blow up :)
I really appreciate hearing that! thankyou! This is my first vid to do any numbers at all really so it feels good to be getting any exposure at all! Definitely go support the game, it's a surprisingly chill good time once you get over the fact everything is melting.
@@bigrathole Yeah, this felt legit on par with most of the creators I watch. You should definitely consider making the low-fi version; it could be superb algorithm bait (plus, I'd vibe to it) :P P.S. If you talked a bit slower to match the rhythm and made your usual sardonic commentary over the low-fi, I bet that would actually sound pretty sick too. Or maybe that's just a gag to sneak into another video 😂
Thanks for highlighting the game! I liked the concept, very relaxing! First few attempts were rough but then I got the hang of it and my last round lasted for 40 minutes. Definitely the game to kill a huge chunk of time!
Oh shit yeah! glad you're digging it! yeah it's super rough getting started but once you get it, you get it. There's a high score board on their discord channel btw! Maybe something to gun for?
This seems like itll be up there with Not Tetris 2, which adds a bit of bouncy physics to the blocks. (The lines have to be around 95 percent filled to dissapear, which slices the pieces up. Slamming a block into the pile might squish a layer below just enough to trigger some removals but can also spray blocks up into the air to cause problems)
love the little laughs you can hear in the background from i assume a roommate or a partner makes the video feel like i'm in a discord call with a friend. cozy vibes, this one
This is why I am a proponent of the "Tetrish" genre The specific phrasing I came up with to define the Tetrish genre is as follows A polygonal-tile or object based game wherein the player controls the "landing position" of an object _through continual guidance_ as it descends from a single direction. The player scores by removal of grouped tiles from the playspace based on a clearly defined "removal rule". Titles in the Tetrish genre include: Tetris Dr Mario Puyo Pop Not Tetris Anode Tetris Hell There are several examples of games that utilise tetrominos or fit some of the Tetrish definitions, but are not Tetrish titles. This includes Ubongo Wood Block Puzzle for Android Connect 4 Bejeweled Color Surge
If they made this into an original game and touched it up, I'd absolutely buy it on steam. I'm always looking for new puzzle battlers, and unique concepts that work are so hard to come by.
Incredible video! 102nd subscriber too! I can tell you'll be at 10,000 subs in no time, i know it sounds like a lot but i was honestly shocked seeing how little views this video has so just wait a minute & you'll be there!
Pretty good video, nice and straightforward explaination, to the point and it's nice to hear your thoughts without any fluff. The animated mouse is pretty cute and the mouth is funny.
Oh wow I'm witnessing a video getting blessed by the RUclips algorithm Thanks for showing this game! I used to play Tetris for quite a long time, and this variant looks pretty enjoyable to just watch and chill
Now i HAVE played the one gravity tetris game, i forgot where i got it, but i used to play it in school from a USB, now THIS seems genuinely fun whenever im waiting for mods to work, thanks man, wish you luck!
nice video! the game reminds me somewhat of Not Tetris 2 from a while back - similar idea in that the blocks obey actual physics, but in that case they're still solid blocks that rotate freely and the line clears work more like classic Tetris. crazy to think that these bizarre spins on Tetris have been their own genre for like a decade now, if not more.
I would like to point out that the Tetris blocks are not copyrighted, and they'll likely uncopyrightable, As they are a general math concept known as a tetramino (which are only seven of if you count mirrors separately), which are themselves a subcategory of polyminos. Top rating them would be like copyrighting dominos, or a polygon of a specific side number.
Yah, I talk about the block shape but really it was supposed to be about just the piggy backing off the general IP. In fact a few days after I posted the review the game got DMCA'd by the Tetris company. I think it may have been the straight lifting of the music that might have been the nail in the coffin. The new linked version strips off any trouble spots.
“I just wanna draw blocks and watch the sand go down” there was a little game called Powder Game that used elements as pixels. Certain elements react to each other and it was a lot of fun to mess with
I remember this! We used to play it in school since it was considered “science” and we were allowed to play it, lol. It was fun to just mess around with.
Thought this was a big youtuber with how well made this video was. Scrolled down and was surprised. Wont be surprised if you suddenly explode on youtube oneday, stick with it.
The game is Noita! It’s gonna blow your mind i guarantee it if you like the idea of roguelikes with crazy amounts of liquid reactions and particle physics. And thanks!
If you like this, you should also try Not Tetris. It's Tetris, but instead of being grid-aligned, you can rotate the pieces any angle you like aand drop them anywhere you like as well. It's very fun!
I heard about this game before. Glad to know it actually does well. By any chance have you heard of a game called 'Brok the Investigator'? It's a combination beat 'em up and point and click adventure game. It takes place in a dystopian setting where humans died out long ago and animals evolved and took their place. You play as Brok, a gator detective in the Slums just trying to make ends meet for him and his stepson. The developer even made an accessibility patch that lets blind people play it. It may be worth giving a try some day.
Hey I appreciate the tip off! I hadn't heard of it no. Holy crap this dev is really going all out on the accessibility, that's awesome. I'm just looking at the patch notes now.

Its a real mind bender, but incredibly fun once you figure it out! And its also very similar to the OG Tetris
