Perfect tutorial. Thxxx
Ur grt David...
I learned a lot from ur bike modeling course few years ago ... one of the best courses for 3d ...
Wow thank you so much! Really glad to hear that! I would love to see some renders if you have it posted anywhere.
@@davidbittorf ... I only learnt the basics of texturing only... the model was urs... that's y didn't post it ...
Is there a way to keep the shader consistent? ZBrush tends to put on a Lambert when sending it to Maya and I always have to change the shader back to a Blinn while working in Maya.
Would I be able to animate the character I made in Zbrush in Maya using this method? Also great video!!
Yes absolutely! Model in Zbrush then rig and animate in Maya! Btw have you checked out my new site? www.davidbittorf.com Let me know what you think. Cheers
mine with maya is Unrecognize file type, i did turn on fbx and obj in Plugin Maya
Hmmm. I should automatically convert it to what it needs. I've seen it not work before but never saying an unrecognized file type. Personally GOz has always worked just fine for me, however, I would say about 50% of the time it does not work for others. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why. When that happens, I won't fight it, instead I just export the old fashion way.
@@davidbittorf i have figured out the problem, my maya vers was 2025 which is not support GoZ
@@yvedjat Oh wow thanks for the heads up! I appreciate it.
when i click on the goz- there is nothing about pathing and putting maya on it, is it because my maya is cracked ?
Hmmm. That is a possibility but I would think that should not matter. Anyone else know?
very nice.....thanks....+1sub
Thank you!
so i edited my mesh in maya and then when i tried to bring it back it crashes zbrush
There could be several reasons why ZBrush crashes when using GoZ with Maya. Here are some common factors that may contribute to the issue:
1. Compatibility Issues: Ensure that you are using the supported versions of both ZBrush and Maya. Using incompatible versions may lead to stability issues and crashes.
2. Memory Usage: ZBrush and Maya are both memory-intensive applications. If your system does not have enough RAM or if the available memory is being utilized by other resource-intensive processes, it can result in crashes.
3. Corrupted Installation: If either ZBrush or Maya is not installed correctly or if there are corrupted files, it can lead to crashes when using GoZ. Try reinstalling both applications to resolve any installation-related issues.
4. Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, conflicts between different plugins or scripts installed for ZBrush or Maya can cause crashes when using GoZ. Try disabling any third-party plugins temporarily and see if the crashing issue persists.
5. Graphics Card Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics card drivers can cause ZBrush to crash. Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card, as recommended by the manufacturer.
6. Performance Settings: Adjusting certain performance settings in ZBrush or Maya might help improve stability. For example, reducing the number of undo levels, adjusting the cache size, or adjusting the number of subdivision levels can help prevent crashes.
7. Complex Geometry: Working with highly detailed or complex geometry in ZBrush and Maya can strain system resources and potentially lead to crashes. Consider optimizing or simplifying your models to reduce the computational load on your system.
8. System Requirements: Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for both ZBrush and Maya. Insufficient hardware capabilities may cause stability issues.
If you have tried the above steps and the crashing issue continues, it is recommended to reach out to the Pixologic support team for further assistance.
why GoZ just keeps open with Cinema4D despite of no path connected? i don't get it
GOz can be super glitchy. Anyone else have any suggestions????
i launched GoZ from zbrush, then maya popped up. maya after booting up, nothing happened?! is there something i'm missing..??
Sometimes it’s so zoomed in on maya’s end that it looks like nothing happed. Press f to frame the object and it will magically appear. Also double check to the outliner to see if anything is actually in your screen.
Hmm.... is that so? Well let me check on that again... also, how were you able to get the goz on the icon shelf? My doesn't have it..
good day @@davidbittorf , i've checked the outliner, but nothing was added there...
When I export a mesh from Zbrush to Maya using GoZ, the orientation of my mesh changes 90 degrees on X axis. Is there a way to fix it? Not by changing every mesh every time manually, but by fixing GoZ? Thank you!
Yes, however you need to change your Maya settings, not GoZ. In Maya go to Windows --> Settings/Preference --> Settings: UpAxis Y. If that doesn't work try UpAxis as Z
@@davidbittorf Yes!!! Thank you so much! This problem has been driving me insane. Now the orientation is correct! Wow!!! However, there is another issue. I am trying to repeat your moves in this tutorial and I cannot help but notice that when my version of DemoSoldier goes to Maya, it appears to have a different scale. My DemoSoldier is so tiny comparing to yours. Is there a way to adjust a scale for any imported mesh?
@@alexxntrewer9412 yes, go to the display settings and open up the grid options. Then in the grid dialogue reset the settings.
@@davidbittorf Thank you so much, David! Now I got it :)
@@alexxntrewer9412 That's awesome! BTW have you had a chance to check out www.davidbittorf.com ? I would be curious on your thoughts if you get a chance to check it out. Cheers!
