It comes with a local file transfer section on the app. You open a web browser on desktop, enter the IP address provided by VLC, then drag and drop. Its super easy and LIGHTNING fast. Great comparisons, I like this series. I'm learning Maya now but very comfortable in Blender. A few crucial hotkeys in Blender I think are worth mentioning: When transforming (G/R/S), you can also type a number to get precise increments. For example to rotate 90 degrees on the X-axis, it's R > X > 90. You don't necessarily need to use the numpad a lot. While orbiting the camera, you can then hold Alt and it'll snap to orthographic view. I find this is the quickest and most intuitive way because you don't have to worry about where the left/right, front/back of your model is. Just begin rotating to the angle you want to view from then hold Alt and it'll snap. You also don't need to press any hotkeys or menu buttons to come out of Orthographic view. It will automatically switch to Perspective if your orbit the camera again. I recommend rebinding the numpad period - Frame Selected hotkey to something super accessible like Mouse Button 4. This is my setup for navigation on a keyboard without a numpad and without using the emulate numpad setting. Because the number row hotkeys are also super important. 1=vertex select, 2=edge select, 3=face select. I do like the emulate 3 button mouse setting because it decreases the frequency that you need to click the MMB. Personally it's more comfortable to Alt+Left Click drag to orbit than to MMB all the time. Another huge thing that other software doesn't seem to always have, is holding Shift while dragging things to get finer control. This works on any value slider, gizmo, and works for transforming anything in any workspace. Holding Ctrl will snap in increments. Again, it works for any value slider or any transforming operation/gizmo. And holding both Ctrl+Shift, will snap to smaller increments, works everywhere as well. Super nice. I totally agree that Maya is slightly more intuitive but ultimately slower and a bit clunky (But I'm still working on seeing if that's simply a skill issue or not). And Blender is a bit harder to learn but ultimately, once the hotkeys are muscle memory, it's very nice and quick. The hotkey system is very well designed and consistent across workspaces. For example going into the Node Editors those same 'navigation' hotkeys work. Holding Shift, Ctrl, or Shift+Ctrl. You can move/scale nodes in X or Y directions and type numbers to move specific distances. And all the same hotkeys work in the Graph Editor too for moving/rotating/scaling points.

    • @davidbittorf

      If it worked once then not again with the exact set of images it means your project folder is not set properly. If dose not work with a different sequence it means the name of it most likely wrong. You need to change the _ to a .

      When importing the model make sure that UDIM is checked. That should be all you need to do.

    • @davidbittorf
      @davidbittorf 2 месяца назад

      Hmmm. I should automatically convert it to what it needs. I've seen it not work before but never saying an unrecognized file type. Personally GOz has always worked just fine for me, however, I would say about 50% of the time it does not work for others. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why. When that happens, I won't fight it, instead I just export the old fashion way.

    The real advantage of blender is that it’s FREE. When it comes down to really doing stuff, you really can’t compare both softwares. The good thing though is that Blender still gets the job done, and I think that’s the important thing.

    • @davidbittorf
      @davidbittorf 2 месяца назад

      Not only is Blender Free its better than Maya in a lot of ways. I feel that Blender looks at what Maya does wrong and fixes it. I feel I can model much more efficiently in Blender and I have 20 years experience with Maya.

      @@davidbittorf I get you. If blender works for you, it’s good you stick to it. I’m not into software debates, whatever works for you is the best tool really.
