The qned line has always been underrated. I bought a 65” qned85 mini-led 2 years ago. Classy Tech was impressed in his settings video and I have been very happy with it.

Very cool. Looks pretty good. At that price, should be a solid competitor for the TCL and Hisense crowd. I'm still anxiously waiting to see what LG has up it's sleeve for the 97" G4. Will the lack of MLA make a huge difference? Brian you mentioned that MLA is a must for a WOLED, but I think the G4 could still be very impressive at that size with a A11 processor still at work. We shall see soon.

I am thinking that tv processing capabilities have not kept up with the mini led zone count increases, so maybe right now fald is easier to process from a tech perspective and provide a decent picture. I was considering the Sony X90L for its processing but when I asked the BB rep to show other content I did not think it handled booming well. Any thoughts you can share on the LG 89T's motion and upscaling?

Brian I was in BB the other day. I think I was looking at a Hisense tv and let me tell you off angle isn’t what it used to be. Hardly any graying out of the picture at off angle. I was shocked. Like you and FOMO has been saying I believe LED has caught up with OLED enough that price and size will now be the criteria for purchasing a tv. Picture quality has caught up. I mean look at this beast off angle picture. Well done brother.

So I am watching your presentations and they are superb. I am so blown away by this demonstration. The picture looked more three dimensional than any other of your demonstrations I have seen. Why. The 83" G4 in my humble opinion is the best TV in the world right now. However if you need larger the 98" is a massive size difference. If you sit about 10 feet away the 98" size will be amazing
I know you have the 83" A80L. My question is what TV for 2024 is it comparable to brightness wise as I think i've read it is brighter than say the 77" A80L?

It seems the 98” is not possible to preview unless you go to New York. A lot of the other sizes are on display at Best Buy. I have the 75QNED85TUA near me. Is this exactly the image/tech I can expect in the 98?
Cinema looks a lot like filmmaker, just a bit more contrast and a warmer color temp. If you pause at 6:59 you can use your left and right key to compare those 2 modes. The colors seem to have been tuned well this year in terms of giving you a pleasing image out of the box. It didn't look like any of them were some "cool 50" modes and there is something for everyone in terms of level of enhancement,
Brian, you have now made my buying decision more difficult... I'm wanting a 98 and will be buying one in 2 weeks..was going to get a QM851G but am hesitate on the build quality of TCL.. Not sure if I should be.. So now this LG looks like a viable option.. Also on Best buys website it's lists dolby vision on this LG.. I'm coming from a 2019 Samsung 82 inch full array flagship tv... @Gary-W excellent question! That level of TCl is very good and perhaps more dynamic and vibrant. I'd still question their processing and accuracy. The local dimming on the smaller QM8 was erratic. I'd probably still lean towards the QNED. QNED, in general, has Dolby Vision but not this particular set. That information is directly from LG electronics, not their website, but from them. Dolby Vision and HDR10plus on TCL aren't the best so I'd call lack of Dolby vision on the LG a wash. I hope this helps
My company specializes in the premium TVs so it's true that they are all very excellent high performance digital video displays. Our 21st annual TV Shootout Evaluation event that is now scheduled for Aug. 3-4, 2024 will disclose all of the technical details of all of image quality attributes.
This looked good, but went with the TCL 98" QM851 ... Comparing this QNED with TCL Mini LED QM851, the TCL wins 100%. Brightness, contrast, picture quality, + Dolby Vision, intelligent dimming... Not to mention the TCL somehow achieves it while being 2k less $$$!
Thank you Brian for only complete review of this model at this time! I bought this TV mostly based on your recommendation. I am extremely pleased with the purchase. I use it primarily for movies in light controlled room and it is outstanding!! An important point to note is that this TV uses a VA PANEL instead of IPS panel. Between the VA panel and full array dimming the contrast is phenomenal!! In 2024, LG has gone to VA panels exclusively in this 98in TV. It is a lottery in QNED 90-91s (boo...) Since VA panels have great contrast and poor viewing angle performance I am surprised it does well off angle. I would be interested in what settings you would recommend for this TV.
Not sure! The Samsung lineup is all over the place with their panels VA vs ads pro. The highest end at 8k is excellent but very expensive. I do like the QN95D yet that also in very limited supply.
People want to know what a 1080p bluray looks like upscaled or what hd television sports look like upscaled...or what native 4k bluray looks like in dark scenes etc....perhaps more than jennifers tailored scenes?
I'm looking at getting a new TV and it probably will need to be LED (because of room and lighting). Up till now I was leaning toward the Sony Bravia 7 or 9 (mainly because of the processor). After this review, I am willing to consider the LG but 98" is just too big for my space. Have you see the 90T? How does this relate to the 90T? I see they have the same processor (A8). Is the 89T just a bigger version of the 90T?

Furthermore, I'd clarify it as being misinformed or a misunderstanding rather than lying. But I'm right . Keep in mind that's not the entire QNED lineup, just this model.
Extreme doubt! Those LG LCDs have never been able to compete with even Hisense and TCL, let alone the best from Sony and Samsung. And now with TCL, Hisense and Sony all going for thousands of dimming zones with 4000+ nits, LG is going to have to do something drastic to keep up. Who am I kidding, they'll just focus on OLED 😂
Not sure what you’re talking about the processing on LG beats TCL and Hisense. And hitting highlights nits where it’s necessary is far better than having an always bright tv with processing issues. I think like Sony that’s where LG is focusing. It makes more sense than simply flexing brightness for brightness sake. Even the Samsung QDOLEDs after a few minutes tone the brightness down.
Man. I’m confused.. just watched most of the demo review and it seems pretty obvious there are some blooming issues as well as black crushing and it looks like some bad color/gray uniformity?! Is it just me? 🎉

Man. I’m confused.. just watched most of the demo review and it seems pretty obvious there are some blooming issues as well as black crushing and it looks like some bad color/gray uniformity?! Is it just me? 🎉
