Mark Knopfler is like an impossible amalgamation of Hank Marvin, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, George Harrison, Mike Oldfield, David Gilmour, Keith Richards, and more, and even with all that talent he throws in his own style!

The studio version of this is one of the best songs for cruising.
It's nice that you enjoyed it so much.🤗
What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having.
Making a living like that wouldn't suck.

    Hi Starr,
I was there back in 1983 when this was filmed and 40 years later it still sounds fantastic!
All of the band were on top of their game, Terry Williams on the drums was out of this world
You won't see a better live performance
We were up on the balcony 5 or 6 rows bac and the whole thing was jumping!
You seemed to have enjoyed it nearly as much as we did.
Now react to Telegraph Road, that was the encore!

Good on you Starr, you not only selected one of my favorite songs, you picked the absolute best version of it. Mark Knopfler’s guitar has it’s own distinct sound and he has a distinct playing style that is instantly recognizable even when he is contributing his skills in the background of other artists’ recordings - absolute genius at his craft. Many great recommendations here for other Dire Straits songs; I would also throw out there Calling Elvis. Thank you for this one.

Love Dire Straits & had their records. They are a great British rock band from the 70's-90's. Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists around. They have had so many hits including "Money For Nothing", "Walk Of Life", "Romeo & Juliet", "Tunnel Of Love", "Private Investigations", "Twisting By The Pool", "Telegraph Road", "So Far Away", "Brothers In Arms" etc. They don't have a bad song.

Mark Knoffler was left handed and played a right handed guitar.
They played the whole set without plectrums.
Brother in Arms a must , written about the Falklands War.

I have heard this song on the radio 1000 times and NEVER has it had this long trio guitar solo and the song played to the point I literally tuned it out and literally got tired of hearing it... Thank god I watch many reactions to all kinds of genres of music because I came across this one day a year or 2 ago now... Watching this and seeing the added guitar rift and the band together in all its glory jamming while the drummer goes nuts the entire song.... REALLY had me rethinking the way I tuned this song out... TRULY masterful performance I get chills every time I watch it and can't help but to WISH AND PRAY I were in that crowd... Just an added note Mark Knopfler went out there live every night and KILLED it with this 3000 (THREE THOUSAND!!) note, FINGER picking, note bending cord progression and never missed a note. A TRUE underrated guitar legend!

Hi Starr, I see that you like these old rock classics and have found and enjoyed Nightwish!
Your reactions to all of the ones I’ve watched were great, it’s really obvious that you enjoyed them all.
I’ve got a new band for you to take a look at, they’re 3 sisters from Mexico whose band is called The Warning, I’ve followed them since 2014 when they were 10, 12 and 14 and even then they were very good! They are now just finishing off a tour of Canada, America and South America, this year they’re going to tour Europe, they’re amazing. A really great track to start off with would be one of their newer ones - Evolve, choose the live version, they’re all dressed in white and it looks like they’re performing in a big garage!

You now have a long journey. 6 Dire Straits studio albums. The Live aLCHEMY album (from which you selected Sultans of Swing). Then 9 (to date) solo albums by Mark Knopfler and 9 sets of film music by him. If you want another up tempo story song try "Telegraph Road" from the aLCHEMY album. If you want some of Marks more emotional songs try "Brothers in Arms". Also Marks song about the 9/11 situation (Marks explains the song and plays it live here ruclips.net/video/rH6ZW7OLhkE/видео.html
