    Thanks for the video. I have tightened about 3/4in but the back still hits the rear and when the targa shuts you hear a loud motor sound coming from where it “clicks” into place. I have to put pressure on the noise spot for it to stop and continue raising the top or shutting the top. Have you encountered this issue?

      We have not encountered this problem. Let's see if I understand your description correctly. By "targa", are you referring to the tonneau cover (storage cover)? It locks down with an electric motor. If there are no obstructions to the cover closing all the way, then you may want to examine its latching mechanism more closely.

      @@TopHydraulics yes after reviewing some forum posts I do believe it is the latch that must not be retracting back down all the way and is trying to finish pulling the tonneau down to (close) complete the cycle. I have bought a replacement latch for about $250 now my next issue is trying to replace latch and in doing so, remove the waterfall. Any suggestions on how to replace latch and remove waterfall?

      @@jesseayala8039 I have not replaced that latch before and cannot give any advice on it. However, it would be nice if you could report back on how it went.

      @@TopHydraulics no code errors messages, disconnected the battery yesterday to test it. The batter is good. Also was hoping the top might reset when disconnecting the battery, it didn't. The dealer told me " they put a new pump in it and it works find" 4 days on a transport delivered to me and the top would only retract and the cover would not come down. Then try to put the top back up neither would work? haver had the car two weeks dealer refuses to make it right.

      @@mrfabful With the top in the storage compartment, manually lower the cover. You may need to open the pressure relief valve on the pump 1-2 turns in order to lower the cover manually, and the ignition needs to be off. Close the relief valve afterwards, then push the button to fully open the top, which should activate the latch on the storage cover. After that, index the windows, so the computer knows where they are at, in case it has lost the memory when the battery was disconnected. Read up in your owner's manual how to reset/index/synchronize the windows after the battery has been disconnected if needed. You know that the windows are indexed if they come down a half inch once you open the doors.
      Once the top is down, the cover is locked and the windows are indexed, let's start from scratch: push the button to close the top and report exactly what is happening:
      1) Does the cover unlock?
      2) Do you get a display in the instrument cluster that the top is in operation?
      3) Does the pump run?
      4) Is any part of the top moving?
      Please be precise.

    I have shortened the straps by at least 1" and it drags. Is there any limit as to how much you can shorten the straps? Any other fix for the same problem.

    • @TopHydraulics
      @TopHydraulics  4 года назад

      Thanks for asking. I don't have a clear answer as to how much the straps can be shortened - they might tear if over-tightened. Let's first make sure we are not overlooking anything else. What exactly do you mean by "it drags"? Is the tonneau cover hitting the rear of the soft top or the rear window section? Did shortening the straps improve things at all? Has your top's hydraulic system been low on fluid, lately?

    • @billhornback5101
      @billhornback5101 4 года назад

      @@TopHydraulics Thanks for the reply. Yes the tonneau cover hits the back rear window when raising. This started when I tried to raise the top with something in my trunk. I did not think the trunk was overloaded just maybe something shifted. Afterwards the tonneau would not latch down and the top would only go back about half way. I shortened the straps about a half inch and it still dragged. I shortened again another 1/2 inch and it still drags. I took it to a shop and they replaced the tonneau cover latch mechanism which fixed the raise and lower problem. I forgot to mention to them that the cover drags on the back window. Can the straps be replaced? Should I just not worry about the top dragging?

      I shortened my straps to the max and it improved the condition greatly. It still hits the window, but just slightly. If the condition worsens I will engineer a bungie cord to replace the cheap strap.
